Čo všetko znamená akvaristika? Pokúsim sa krátko o tom napísať. Skúsenejší si určite dobre pamätáme aké to bolo, keď sme sa kedysi dávno rozhodli chovať doma svoje prvé rybičky. Pohnútky, ktoré nás k tomu viedli boli často emotívne, čo bolo v každom prípade vhodné, lenže išlo o živé tvory, preto by sa nám vtedy nejaký rozum hodil. Skúsenejších akvaristov možno zaujme môj pohľad, ktorý má snahu byť objektívny, inšpirujúci a zrozumiteľný. Fotografie použité v tomto článku ilustrujú výsledky snaženia mnohých akvaristov a sú zároveň aj názorným príkladom rôzneho účelu nádrží – od funkčného až po estetické.
Tak, poďme na to ! :-)). Predstavme si situáciu: chcem akvárium, Čo ďalej? . Nezáleží na veku, vždy je fajn, ak poznáme problematiku, čiže ak nás napadne mať doma kúsok prírody, je dôležité sa touto myšlienkou vážne zaoberať. Treba si uvedomiť, že to nie je hračka, alebo vec, ktorá sa použije a môže sa zahodiť – ryby, vodné rastliny, krevety, slimáky, napokon aj mikroorganizmy v akváriu sú živé tvory, ktoré je nutné si vážiť a chrániť ich. Pekné farebné rybičky sa páčia asi každému a nevidím na tom nič zlé tento vzťah rozvíjať. Mladý akvarista by mal rozvíjať svoj obdiv voči rybám, vodným rastlinám, prípadne voči akváriu ako celku aj v jeho jednotlivostiach. To znamená, že treba chodiť do rôznych akvaristických obchodov, prípadne tí šťastnejší môžu zájsť ku chovateľovi. Neodporúčam sa príliš spoliehať na Internet. Nabádam k tomu, aby sa náš obdiv neorientoval len na „nejakú červenú“, alebo „modrú rybičku”, ale aby prípadný adept získal aspoň trochu prehľad. Návšteva zoologickej alebo botanickej záhrady je vhodná, pokojne aj takej, kde vôbec akvária nie sú – myslím si, že ak človek prejavuje cit voči rybám, určite sa prejaví aj voči iným zvieratám. Odporúčam napr. ZOO Lešná, Tropikárium Budapešť, ZOO Budapešť, Arborétum Tesárske Mlyňany. V prípade, že záujem zotrvá, prípadne sa prehĺbi a potenciálny akvarista bude nástojiť na akváriu aj vo svojej domácnosti, poobzeral by som sa po informáciách. Siahol by som v prvom rade po klasickej akvaristickej literatúre, v každom prípade aj po nejakej staršej. Nepokladám za vhodné poslúchnuť trendy modernej akvaristiky, prípadne obchodný záujem predajcu akvaristickej techniky a nakúpiť výkonné a “zázračné“ technické a iné pomôcky. Pýtate sa prečo? Technika je pokročilá a výkonná, ale zvádza k tomu, aby sa človek nezaoberal tým, ako funguje. Okrem toho, prípadné prvotné neúspechy pri drahej technike vedia pôsobiť deprimujúco. Mnohé pomôcky sú skôr “bežcami na dlhé trate” – napr. vonkajší filter je výborná vec, ale poriadne funguje po pomerne dlhej dobe. Niektoré iné pomôcky majú mať naopak opačný účinok – majú za úlohu veľmi rýchlo dostať akvárium do dobrého stavu – nie som vôbec zástancom týchto super vodičiek a super urýchľovačov. Prirovnal by som to napr. k postupu v práci – veľa najmä mladých ľudí chce byť čo najrýchlejšie manažérmi, ale nič poriadne nevedia urobiť. Aj v akvaristike je lepšie začínať od začiatku, všetko si trpezlivo prežiť, porozumieť a potom neskôr pokojne prejsť ku drahšej výkonnej technike.
Rád by som pripomenul, že dobrá kniha sa nemusí nutne nachádzať v kníhkupectve, ani v akvaristickom obchode. A nemusí sa hneď kupovať – knihy sa dajú požičať v knižniciach – a trúfam si povedať, že výber tam bude väčší a asi aj kvalitnejší. Osobne by som odporúčal nájsť nejakú knihu od Stanislava Franka, Rufolfa Zukala, Zdeňka Drahotušského, či Jindřicha Nováka. Dnešné knihy plné krásnych fotiek by som skôr odporučil pre prvú fázu, ktorú som vyššie spomenul – pre fázu obdivovania. V každom prípade by som však s informáciami nakladal opatrne. Ak nemáte skúsenosti, je ťažké posúdiť, či je zdroj informácií vhodný. Čo sa týka Internetu, tak je to médium veľmi široké, ale zväčša veľmi neseriózne. Poskytuje neskutočné množstvo informácií, aj množstvo kvalitných, a inde sa nevyskytujúcich, ale treba oddeliť zrno od pliev, nuž a s tým má istotne začiatočník problém. Týmto chcem upozorniť, že netreba veriť každému zdroju, je vhodné si vždy informácie preveriť. So, let’s get to it! :-)) Let’s imagine the situation: I want an aquarium, what’s next? It doesn’t matter what age you are; it’s always good to be familiar with the issue. If the idea of having a piece of nature at home crosses your mind, it’s essential to take this thought seriously. One needs to realize that it’s not a toy or an item that can be used and discarded – fish, aquatic plants, shrimp, snails, and even microorganisms in the aquarium are living beings that should be respected and protected. Colorful fish appeal to almost everyone, and I don’t see anything wrong with developing a relationship with them. A young hobbyist should cultivate admiration for fish, aquatic plants, and the aquarium as a whole and its individual components. This means visiting various aquarium stores or, if lucky, breeders. I do not recommend relying too much on the Internet. I encourage cultivating admiration not only for “some red” or “blue fish” but for the potential enthusiast to gain at least a bit of an overview. Visiting a zoo or botanical garden is suitable, even one without aquariums. I believe that if someone shows affection for fish, it will manifest towards other animals. I recommend places like ZOO Lešná, Tropicarium Budapest, ZOO Budapest, Arboretum Tesárske Mlyňany. If interest persists, or deepens, and the potential hobbyist insists on having an aquarium at home, I would look for information. I would turn first to classical aquarium literature, possibly something older. I don’t think it’s appropriate to follow modern aquarium trends or the commercial interest of an aquarium equipment seller, buying powerful and “miraculous” technical tools. You may ask why? The technology is advanced and efficient, but it tempts people not to delve into how it works. Besides, initial failures with expensive equipment can be discouraging. Many tools are more like “marathon runners” – for example, an external filter is an excellent thing, but it works well after a relatively long time. Some other tools are supposed to have the opposite effect – to get the aquarium into good condition very quickly – I am not a fan of these super conductors and accelerators. I would compare it, for example, to a career – many young people want to become managers as quickly as possible, but they don’t know how to do anything properly. Similarly, in aquarium keeping, it’s better to start from the beginning, experience everything patiently, understand it, and later, if necessary, move on to more expensive and efficient technology.
I would like to remind you that a good book doesn’t necessarily have to be found in a bookstore or an aquarium store. It doesn’t even have to be bought right away – books can be borrowed from libraries – and I dare say the selection there will be more extensive and probably of better quality. Personally, I would recommend finding a book by Stanislav Frank, Rufolf Zukal, Zdeněk Drahotušský, or Jindřich Novák. I would recommend today’s books full of beautiful photos for the first phase, which I mentioned earlier – for the admiration phase. In any case, I would handle information carefully. If you don’t have experience, it’s challenging to judge if the information source is suitable. As for the Internet, it is a very broad medium, but generally very untrustworthy. It provides an incredible amount of information, including many high-quality ones that are not available elsewhere, but one must separate the wheat from the chaff, and this is undoubtedly a problem for beginners. I would like to point out that you shouldn’t believe every source; it’s always advisable to verify the information.
