Víg­ľaš leží v údo­lí rie­ky Sla­ti­na vo Zvo­len­skej kot­li­ne, v nad­mor­skej výš­ke 385 met­rov nad morom, 14 km od Zvo­le­na. Na plo­che 32 km2 tu žije 1523 oby­va­te­ľov. Prvá písom­ná zmien­ka pochá­dza z roku 1392 (Wiki­pe­dia). His­to­ric­ké náz­vy: Wee­les, Vyles, Wig­los, Weg­les, Podwig­leš (najk​raj​sik​raj​.sk). Domi­nan­tou je gotic­ký zámok z kon­ca 14. sto­ro­čia. Pôvod­ne to bol poľov­níc­ky zámok, kto­rý pre­šiel via­ce­rý­mi úpra­va­mi (Wiki­pe­dia). V 16. – 17. sto­ro­čí bol Víg­ľaš pro­ti­tu­rec­kou pev­nos­ťou, úspeš­ne čelil Tur­kom. Od roku 1890 sa odtiaľ­to vyvá­ža­la mine­rál­ka Vera. V roku 1828 tu v 84 domoch žilo 636 oby­va­te­ľov, kto­rý sa zaobe­ra­li poľ­no­hos­po­dár­stvom a cho­vom dobyt­ka. V roku 1890 bola zalo­že­ná Bur­ka­to­va výrob­ňa syrov (najk​raj​sik​raj​.sk). V polo­vi­ci 20. sto­ro­čia bol Víg­ľaš stre­dis­kom boha­to ozdo­bo­va­ných píš­ťal a fujár (najk​raj​sik​raj​.sk).

V roku 1945 zámok vyho­rel, z pôvod­nej stav­by sa zacho­va­li iba obvo­do­vé múry. Kom­plet­ne zre­kon­štru­ova­ný bol v roku 2013 (Wiki­pe­dia). Zámok je zapí­sa­ný v zozna­me Národ­ných kul­túr­nych pamia­tok. Je prí­stup­ný verej­nos­ti, voľ­ný vstup je do na vstup­né nádvo­rie s hrad­ba­mi. Kona­jú sa tu aj pre­hliad­ky, zámok slú­ži aj ako hotel (Moni­ka Maj­te­ny­i­ová).


Víg­ľaš lies in the val­ley of the Sla­ti­na River in the Zvo­len Basin, at an ele­va­ti­on of 385 meters abo­ve sea level, 14 km from Zvo­len. In 1828, 636 inha­bi­tants lived in 84 hou­ses, enga­ged in agri­cul­tu­re and catt­le bre­e­ding. In 1890, the Bur­kat che­e­se fac­to­ry was estab­lis­hed (najk​raj​sik​raj​.sk). In the mid-​20th cen­tu­ry, Víg­ľaš was a cen­ter for ela­bo­ra­te­ly deco­ra­ted pipes and fuja­ras (najk​raj​sik​raj​.sk).

In 1945, the cast­le was des­tro­y­ed by fire, with only the peri­me­ter walls remai­ning from the ori­gi­nal struc­tu­re. It was com­ple­te­ly recons­truc­ted in 2013 (Wiki­pe­dia). The cast­le is lis­ted as a Nati­onal Cul­tu­ral Monu­ment. It is open to the pub­lic, with free entry to the cour­ty­ard with walls. Guided tours are avai­lab­le, and the cast­le also ser­ves as a hotel (Moni­ka Majtenyiová).

Veľ­ké Kar­lo­vi­ce sú typic­kou valaš­skou obcou, nachá­dza­jú sa tu stá­le pas­tvi­ny so stá­da­mi oviec (vel​ke​kar​lo​vi​ce​.cz). V 19. sto­ro­čí tu boli zalo­že­né sklár­ne. Maleb­né Veľ­ké Kar­lo­vi­ce ležia v srd­ci Bes­kýd na seve­ro­vý­cho­de Mora­vy, láka­jú nád­her­nou prí­ro­dou, tra­dí­cia­mi a pohos­tin­nos­ťou. Oko­li­té hory, lesy, krás­ne údo­lia posky­tu­jú mož­nosť vyži­tia sa turis­tom, cyk­lo­tu­ris­tom a v zime aj lyžia­rom. Geomor­fo­lo­gic­ky je to veľ­mi pes­trá a zvl­ne­ná kra­ji­na, kto­rá posky­tu­je úchvat­né výhľa­dy. Fun­gu­jú tu aj ter­mál­ne kúpe­le. Ochut­nať mož­no tra­dič­né jed­lá, regi­onál­ne špe­cia­li­ty, napr. syry, klo­bá­sy, kys­nu­té knedle.


Veľ­ké Kar­lo­vi­ce lie in the foot­hills of the Javor­ní­ky and Bes­kids, wit­hin the pro­tec­ted lands­ca­pe area of Bes­ky­dy. They were foun­ded in 1714, and the vil­la­ge is home to 2,296 inha­bi­tants (vel​ke​kar​lo​vi​ce​.cz). Veľ­ké Kar­lo­vi­ce epi­to­mi­ze a typi­cal Valaš­sko vil­la­ge, with pas­to­ral sce­nes of she­ep gra­zing still pre­va­lent (vel​ke​kar​lo​vi​ce​.cz).
