Rapsódia bocianov v Marcheggu

Hits: 7497

Marchegg – mesto bocianov – Storchenstadt. Leží neďaleko od hraníc zo Slovenskom – v podstate vedľa Devínskeho jazera (marchegg.at). Ďalšou atrakciou sú Viedenská brána – Wiener Tor a Uhorská brána – Ungartor (marchegg.at).

Marchegg – the City of Storks – Storchenstadt. It is located near the Slovak border, essentially next to Devínske Jazero (marchegg.at). Situated in Lower Austria, it is home to one of the largest colonies of white storks (Ciconia ciconia) in Central Europe (rakusko.sk). The city is famous for its high number of storks from March to August. It lies at an altitude of 141 meters and has approximately 3,650 inhabitants. It was founded in 1268 by King Ottokar II of Bohemia. A point of interest is the water castle built in the 13th century, originally serving as a hunting lodge (marchegg.at). In 1621, the water castle was acquired by Paul IV Pálffy, who owned estates in nearby Malacky, Plavecký Castle, , and Bojnice. The castle resembles the manor house in Malacky, as modifications were made by his descendants in coordination. Today, its interiors feature exhibitions about Ottokar II and the Pálffy family (Krno). The castle grounds include beautifully landscaped parks. Other attractions include the Wiener Tor (Vienna Gate) and Ungartor (Hungarian Gate) (marchegg.at). Today, the castle serves as a regional museum (tourist-channel.sk). Near Marchegg, there are natural reserves such as the Floodplain Forests and Kleiner Breitensee Lake. The area hosts the largest colony of tree-nesting storks in Central Europe, with 50 pairs of white storks – a stork principality (Krno). The first storks arrive in Marchegg in March from their wintering grounds in Africa. In May, chicks hatch, grow during the summer, and learn to fly. By late August, the storks begin migrating back to warmer regions, with the last ones leaving by October (rakusko.sk). The WWF March Auen – Morava Floodplains Reserve was established in 1970 and is part of the Ramsar Site Morava River Basin. The wetlands with floodplain forests are a rare ecosystem, as endangered as tropical rainforests (teraz.sk). Marchegg is surrounded by the Lower Morava Floodplains Nature Reserve, which spans approximately 1,100 hectares. This reserve is home to various bird species, including storks, and offers visitors the chance to observe them in their natural habitat. The floodplain forests and wetlands in the area provide ideal nesting conditions for storks (austria.sk).

Mesto Gbely upravilo pred časom pláže, parkovacie plochy, vysadilo a kríky, vybudovalo sprchy, umyváreň, sociálne zariadenia. Adamov je mestskou časťou mesta Gbely (gbely.sk). Adamovské jazerá sú ojedinelým príkladom spolužitia a človeka. Je len málo mieste, kde môžete nahliadnuť do sveta vtáctva z takej bezprostrednej blízkosti. Desaťročia tu človek a žijú vedľa seba (Informačná tabuľa).

The Adamov Lakes are located at the 85th river kilometer of the Morava River. They provide opportunities for fishing, summer recreation, and swimming. There are three ports here, and two boats operate. From the Gbely Adamov port, you can sail to České Tvrdonice. The Adamov Lakes consist of two gravel pits, thus they are artificially created water areas. Since 1969, gravel mining has been taking place on the western side of the larger northern gravel pit. There are 13 islands in the southern part, where more than 80 species of birds nest. Once there were wetlands here, but they disappeared due to the regulation of the Morava River. The town of Gbely recently renovated beaches, parking areas, planted trees and shrubs, built showers, washrooms, and social facilities. Adamov is a district of the town of Gbely. The Adamov Lakes are a unique example of coexistence between nature and humans. There are few places where you can observe birdlife from such close proximity. For decades, humans and birds have been living side by side here.

The Adamov Lakes are among the most significant ornithological sites in . They are an important migration stopover and resting place for geese. The lakes are part of the Morava Protected Bird Area. Almost half of the breeding population of wild geese (Anser anser) in Slovakia nests here. They stay here from February to July. The black-headed gull (Larus ridibundus) has the largest colony in Záhorie. The common tern (Sterna hirundo) also settles on islands without high vegetation. In March and April, the spring migration of ducks peaks here. The Eurasian coot (Fulica atra) is almost entirely black. The red-crested pochard (Netta rufina) considers the lakes one of the northernmost breeding sites. Other species include the great crested grebe (Podiceps cristatus), the sand (Riparia riparia), the white wagtail (Motacilla alba), the white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), the northern pintail (Anas acuta), the mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), the smew (Mergus albellus), the common goldeneye (Bucephala clangula), the Eurasian hoopoe (Upupa epops), the grey heron (Ardea cinerea), the black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), the bearded reedling (Panurus biarmicus), the bluethroat (Luscinia svecica), the sandpipers, and the wagtails. In mid-November, large flocks of geese fly here. From the north, the greater white-fronted goose (Anser albifrons) and the bean goose (Anser fabalis) arrive. The northern lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) nests around the lakes.

In 2009, the town of Gbely built an eight-meter-high wooden lookout tower here. Locals call it „ávéháčka,“ meaning the Adamov bird lookout (infoglobe.sk). The lookout offers a very good view not only of bird colonies and the surrounding area but also, especially in the winter months, of the distant Little Carpathians, White Carpathians, and Pavlov Hills (Pálava) (ubytujemsa.sk). I go to the Adamov Lakes quite often, including for swimming. Sometimes I stop here on my way from Moravia. The buffet – refreshment facility, which I quickly grew fond of, is interesting. In summer, there are quite a few people here, but it’s still tolerable, and I haven’t had any parking problems yet (Peter Kaclík).

Jazerá a vodné nádrže

Hits: 3002

Absorbujú zrážky, regulujú odtok vody a udržiavajú rovnováhu vodných zásob.

Above the surfaces of lakes and reservoirs, tranquility and the beauty of nature prevail. Lakes and water reservoirs play a crucial role in the environment. They provide a home for numerous plants and animals and serve as a vital source of drinking water for both humans and animals. People utilize these waters for recreational activities such as swimming, fishing, and water sports. They also hold significance in shaping the landscape and are integral to the water cycle. By absorbing precipitation, regulating water flow, and maintaining the balance of water resources, lakes and reservoirs contribute substantially to the overall harmony of nature.

Island – ostrov ľadu a ohňa

Hits: 1936

V rokoch 1783 kvôli sopečnej činnosti sopky Laki zmizla veľká časť Islandu, mnoho ľudí a zvierat zomrelo. Dánska vláda vtedy uvažovala o premiestnení všetkých 40 tisíc obyvateľov do Dánska (Marta Horáčková). Následky výbuchu sopky Askja v roku 1875 zničili islandskú ekonomiku a spôsobili hladomor (Wikipedia).

Jedinečnou prírodou, bohatou históriou a kultúrnym dedičstvom. Ponúka pôsobivú kombináciu drsnej studenej krásy a sopečnej energie.

Iceland is located at the junction of the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans and is the second-largest island in Europe. It is approximately 800 km from Scotland, 970 km from Norway, and 287 km from Greenland (Wikipedia CS). Positioned on the boundary of two tectonic plates in the region of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Iceland is where new oceanic crust is formed. Beneath Iceland, a hot spot is believed to exist (Olivier Bourgeois, Olivier Dauteuil, Erwan Hallot). Iceland officially became a sovereign state on June 17, 1944. With an area of 102,775 km², it is home to 350,710 inhabitants. The first settlers of Iceland were likely Norwegians and Celts in the late 9th century. Viking chieftains established „thingy“ assemblies to resolve disputes, and in 930, the world’s first parliament was formed in Iceland (Wikipedia). From 1262, Iceland was subject to the Norwegian king (Marta Horáčková). In 1357, Iceland came under Danish rule (Wikipedia CS). In 1783, due to volcanic activity from the Laki volcano, a significant portion of Iceland vanished, resulting in the death of many people and animals. The Danish government considered relocating all 40,000 inhabitants to Denmark at that time (Marta Horáčková). The eruption of the Askja volcano in 1875 had devastating effects on Iceland’s economy and led to famine (Wikipedia).

On December 1, 1918, Iceland gained independence, maintaining a personal union with Denmark. The population of Iceland is predominantly of Germanic origin. In recent times, there has been an influx of immigrants from around the world. Icelanders take pride in their Viking heritage and possess a strong work ethic, working the longest hours among developed countries. Iceland is a liberal country, advocating for equality (egalitarianism). In 930, the world’s first parliament was established in Iceland. Known for its geysers, Iceland has the highest number of hot springs and gas eruptions in the world. Geothermal energy from the Earth’s depths is utilized for heating. Winters on the coast are mild, while the interior experiences an almost polar climate (Wikipedia). The entire island is volcanically active, featuring lava fields, mountains, and glaciers in the interior (Wikipedia CS).

Iceland is one of the most fascinating places on Earth, boasting a unique nature, rich history, and cultural heritage. It offers a compelling combination of harsh cold beauty and volcanic energy. Icelandic geysers are arguably the most famous globally. Other typical elements of Iceland’s landscape include glaciers and waterfalls. The Icelandic language is one of the oldest unwritten languages in Europe, with significant historical and literary traditions. Sagas, old tales, and legends form an essential part of Icelandic cultural heritage and are considered treasures of world literature. Iceland is known for its progressive society and is one of the happiest places on Earth. The blend of an advanced social system, high quality of life, and respect for nature makes Iceland one of the most desirable places to live. Traditional Icelandic cuisine is based on local ingredients such as fish, berries, and lamb. Visitors should definitely try traditional dishes like hákarl (preserved shark), hangikjöt (smoked lamb), and rúgbrauð (dark bread).

At , the charm extends beyond the lake itself to its surroundings. Notably, just below the lake’s surface, there are additional water features known as the „Jazierka lásky“ or „Love Ponds“ (Peter Kaclík). Originally named Štrbské Rybníky, these ponds were originally established for trout breeding (.sk). Founded by Jozef Szentiványi in the late 19th century (strba.sk), the larger pond was called Jozefov rybník, and the smaller one Mikulášov rybník (Ivan Bohuš). Since 1940, the Slovak double cross has been situated at the bottom of the larger pond (strba.sk). Today, they serve as a peaceful walking and relaxation spot (tatry.sk), conveniently located near the central parking area of Štrbské Pleso, in close proximity to the road (strba.sk). The ponds are fed by the Mlynica stream (Oskár Mažgút).
