Hits: 5315

S príchodom jari, teploty stúpajú a príroda začína odhaľovať svoju novú tvár. Jarné mesiace sú časom, keď začínajú kvitnúť rôzne druhy kvetov a stromov. a vône kvetov pridávajú živý a farebný prvok do krajiny. Spring is a season in the annual cycle that follows winter and precedes summer. It is a period when nature undergoes renewal and awakening after the winter dormancy. With the arrival of spring, temperatures rise, and nature begins to reveal its new face. The spring months are a time when various types of flowers and trees start to bloom. The colors and scents of the flowers add a lively and colorful element to the landscape. Leaves reappear on trees and bushes, and nature takes on a fresh green hue. Forests, parks, and gardens are filled with new life. The sounds of birdsong become more pronounced as they return from their migration routes and begin seeking partners and building nests. Spring equinox brings longer days and shorter nights. This shift in the length of daylight has a significant impact on the growth and activity of various organisms. Many wild animals begin their mating season and prepare for a new year of offspring. People often engage in outdoor sports and activities such as cycling, running, picnics, and gardening to make the most of the pleasant weather. Spring is a time of hope, renewal, and new beginnings. For many, it symbolizes new life and opportunities.

Markthof

Hits: 2025

Markthof leží neďaleko od hraníc zo Slovenskom, oproti Devínskej Kobyle, resp. mestskej časti Bratislavy – Devínu, na brehu .

Do roku 1906 bolo pomenovanie Hof an der March. V roku 1774 zničila ľadová povodeň most cez Moravu. V roku 1880 zničila povodeň v dôsledku ľadovej povodne most znova. Následne nebol už viac postavený. Spojenie medzi Hofom a Devínskou Novou Vsou prevzala kompa. V roku 1882 začala aj výstavba ochrannej hrádze (gedaechtnisdeslandes.at).

V roku 1938 tu pôsobil mäsiar, dvaja hostinskí, dvaja obchodníci so zmiešaným tovarom, mliečne družstvo, kováč, dvaja obuvníci a viacero poľnohospodárov. Do Devínskej Novej Vsi viedol cez Moravu most, ktorý bol okrem pilierov demontovaný počas studenej . Nachádza sa tu farský kostol Markthof, kostol svätého Juraja, kaplnka na ochrannej hrádzi – kaplnka svätého Floriána, socha svätého Jána Nepomuckého z roku 1722 (Wikipedia).

Dňa 22. decembra 1971 sa konalo posledné zasadnutie obecného zastupiteľstva. Od 1. januára 1972 patrí Markthof k obci Engelhartstetten. V roku 2010 sa rozhodlo o výstavbe cyklistického a pešieho mosta cez Moravu. Spája cyklotrasu Železná opona resp. cyklotrasu Kamp-Thaya-March a cyklotrasu Marchfeldkanal s cyklotrasou . Názov má pripomínať železnú oponu a ľudí, ktorí pri pokuse prekročiť Moravu do slobodného západu prišli o život (gedaechtnisdeslandes.at).

Markthof lies near the border with Slovakia, opposite , which is a part of the district , on the bank of the Morava River.

Until 1906, the village was named Hof an der March. Markthof is a settlement of the municipality of Engelhartstetten. It is located at the very eastern end of Marchfeld, where the Morava River flows into the Danube. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1273. In 1822, the village had 58 houses (Wikipedia). Its origin is probably related to the royal estate Disinfurth, which Emperor Henry IV, along with the right to ferry across the Morava, granted to Bishop Altmann of Passau on March 6, 1067. However, this name later disappeared, possibly due to floods that destroyed the village. The oldest written records of the village under the name de Hoven date back to the 12th century. For centuries, the settlement suffered from floods of the Morava and Danube rivers. In 1774, an ice flood destroyed the bridge over the Morava. In 1880, a flood again destroyed the bridge due to an ice flood. Subsequently, it was not rebuilt. The connection between Hof and Devínska Nová Ves was taken over by a ferry. Severe floods hit this area in February 1876, September 1890, June 1892, spring 1895, and in 1896 and 1897. A request by the village for relocation was denied by Emperor Franz Joseph. However, he ordered the extension of the Danube protection dam up to Hof an der March. In 1882, the construction of the Marchfeld protection dam also began (gedaechtnisdeslandes.at).

In 1938, there was a butcher, two innkeepers, two general store owners, a dairy cooperative, a blacksmith, two shoemakers, and several farmers operating in the village. A bridge over the Morava River led to Devínska Nová Ves, which, except for the pillars, was dismantled during the Cold War. The village features the parish church of Markthof, the church of Saint George, the chapel on the protection dam – the chapel of Saint Florian, a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1722 (Wikipedia).

On December 22, 1971, the last meeting of the municipal council took place. Since January 1, 1972, Markthof has been part of the municipality of Engelhartstetten. In 2010, it was decided to build a pedestrian and cyclist bridge over the Morava River. It connects the Iron Curtain Trail and the Kamp-Thaya-March Trail with the Marchfeldkanal Trail and the Danube Trail. After initial difficulties in finding a name, it was finally agreed to name it the „Freedom Cycle Bridge“ (Slovak „Cyklomost slobody“). The name is intended to recall the Iron Curtain and the people who lost their lives trying to cross the Morava River to reach the free West (gedaechtnisdeslandes.at).

Skočil mu do voza a prevrátil ho.

Smolenice majú dve časti: Smolenice a Smolenickú Novú Ves (pôvodne Neštich).

Smolenice is a village situated at the foothills of the Small Carpathians. The first mention of Smolenice, then called Solmus, dates back to the year 1256. At that time, it belonged to the Pezinok-Saint George Counts. By the end of the 14th century, it was owned by Stibor of Stiborice, and later again by the Pezinok-Saint George Counts. In the 16th century, it belonged to the Orság family, and after the 17th century, to the Pálfy family. Within the village’s territory lies Smolenice Castle, surrounded by a beautiful park. A significant historical site is Molpír, a Hallstatt hillfort, a princely fortification dating back to the older Iron Age (7-6th century BC), featuring massive stone fortifications with gates and towers (Information Board). The hillfort covered an area of 12-14 hectares, with three courtyards protected by ramparts. The fortifications consisted of loose stones, reinforced embankments, and wooden structures. Foundations of towers, a round bastion, and residential wooden huts were discovered on-site. The inhabitants engaged in tool-making, knife production, weapon crafting, bronze casting, and the production of stone grinders. The most important was likely the production of threads and fabrics, and at its peak, around 800 people lived here (Wikipedia.sk). Molpír is considered a former political and economic center of the wider region and disappeared in the 4th century BC (Information Board).

Near the hillfort is a Slavic burial site from the pre-Great Moravian and Great Moravian periods, which disturbed a barrow from the Middle Bronze Age. In the vicinity of Smolenice, a relatively large number of Neolithic artifacts were found, such as axe hammers, stone axes, grinding stones, and ceramics. From the period around 1700-1500 BC, remains of the Middle Danubian barrow culture with its distinctive grooved pottery were discovered. Smolenice is associated with Smolenice Karst, which includes a nature trail of the same name. The National Nature Reserve Driny Cave, the only publicly accessible cave in the Small Carpathians, is part of it. Another national nature reserve, Dolina Hlboče, is located above the village. Záruby (767 m) is the highest peak in the Small Carpathians, overlooking Smolenice, along with other peaks like Veterlín (Source: Information Board).

According to local legend, the site of the current village was once a forest with a road passing through it. Once, a resin worker (smoliar) was traveling along the road with a wagon full of resin. Nobles were hunting in the forest, chasing a deer that, startled, ran onto the road right into the resin worker! It jumped into his wagon and overturned it. The resin spilled on the ground. The terrified resin worker exclaimed, „Smole nic!“ which means „Nothing but resin!“ And so, this place began to be called Smolenice (panorama.sk).

Smolenice consists of two parts: Smolenice and Smolenická Nová Ves (originally Neštich). Count Jozef Pálfy built a chemical plant for wood processing in the valley below Majdán near the village of Horné Orešany between 1880 and 1883. A forest horse railway began to be built, later an industrial railway from the factory to the station. The entire network was dismantled after 1960. In 1968, the history of another chemical plant producing paints, Chemolak, began. Notable personalities from Smolenice include parachute inventor Štefan Banič and regional historian Štefan Jastrabík (Wikipedia.sk).

Čachtice – obec na úpätí Malých Karpát

Hits: 5319

Územie bolo osídlené už v neolite, čo dokazujú nálezy, hradisko, popolnicové pohrebisko lužickej kultúry z doby bronzovej, haltštatskej, rímskej, slovanskej a z ranného stredoveku (Informačná tabuľa).

Kamenný most je vzácna ojedinelá pamiatka stredovekej architektúry u nás (Ammer). Obyvatelia sa tu pôvodne zaoberali roľníctvom, vinohradníctvom a remeslami, ktoré rozvinuli najmä habánski usadlíci zo 17. storočia (Wikipedia.sk). Nachádza sa tu pôvodne gotický kostol svätého Ladislava z roku 1373 – 1390 ( Informačná tabuľa). V roku 1680 bol prestavaný. Rozšírili ho a zbarokizovali (Wikipedia.sk).

Vykopané boli do spraše s hladkými stenami, románskymi a gotickými klenbami.

Z pohľadu mestského človeka je v Čachticiach pokoj. v stánku som mal nárok kúpiť iba do 11-ej, potom už bolo zavreté. Žije to azda najviac na ceste z Piešťan do Nového Mesta nad Váhom.

Čachtice is a village situated between the Váh River and the Small Carpathians. Above the village rises a castle, more prominently visible from the village of Višňové. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1248. The area was inhabited as early as the Neolithic period, as evidenced by findings such as a hillfort, burial grounds from the Bronze Age, Hallstatt, Roman, Slavic, and early medieval periods (Information Board). A Slavic settlement is documented from the 8th to the 9th century (cachtickapani.cz). It is located at an elevation of 203 meters, and in 2004, it had a population of 3,630 (Wikipedia). Mammoth bones have been discovered here. Stone tools from the later Stone Age and pottery with volute decoration have been found. From the late Stone Age, there is ribbed pottery. A valuable grave from the Bronze Age, likely of the Vĕlatic culture, and pottery from the Hungarian culture have also been discovered. Significant Roman period finds include agricultural tools and vessels, providing evidence of Slavic settlement. In the first half of the 13th century, the village was mentioned as Čekče. Later names include Chechte, Czachtan, Czachticz, Ceythe (Ammer), Chekche, Csejthe (Wikipedia.sk). Bartolomej Revický claimed that the name comes from the Old Slavic „čechati,“ meaning to forge or dig. There were many underground labyrinths here (Wikipedia.sk).

In the 14th century, Čachtice became a royal town and played a significant role in defense against enemies. The stone bridge is a rare medieval architectural monument in the region (Ammer). The original inhabitants were engaged in agriculture, viticulture, and crafts, especially developed by the Haban settlers in the 17th century (Wikipedia.sk). The originally Gothic Church of St. Ladislaus from 1373-1390 still stands here (Information Board). It was rebuilt in 1680, expanded, and baroquized (Wikipedia.sk). It is connected to the rectory by a unique stone bridge. Next to the church is an older chapel in the stone fortress. The Gothic Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua, dating back to 1330, shows several elements of the Great Moravian Empire (Wikipedia.sk). In 1599, the village was devastated by the Turks (Hanuš). Another monument is the Renaissance Draškovič Castle, housing the Čachtice History and Tatrín Literary Association Museum, which established the standard Slovak language in 1847 (Information Board). Mikuláš Draškovič had it built in 1668. From the buildings of the owners of Čachtice Castle, the Drugetovcov manor remains, built in the early 17th century as a smaller noble residence where the Orságh Castle once stood. The Imperial Nádašdy Castle, built before 1645 and inhabited by Elizabeth Báthory, did not survive (Hanuš).

The baroque Marian column in the square dates back to 1742 and was built to ward off frequent fires that plagued the village in the 18th century. The baroque Calvary from 1620 was erected by Judita Révaiová, the daughter-in-law of Elizabeth Báthory, as a plea for forgiveness for her mother-in-law’s sins. The statue of St. Florian (patron saint of firefighters) was erected by Pavel Forgáč. The chapel with the statue of St. John of Nepomuk from 1801, the monument to fallen soldiers in World War I and II by Pavel Bán, and the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes in a cave, commissioned by Baron František Horecký, are located on Urbanovského Street. Behind some vineyard stone lodges and cellars were tunnels – catacombs. Excavated into smooth-walled ash, they had Romanesque and Gothic vaults. Today, many of them are filled and degraded (Wikipedia.sk).

In Čachtice, I captured a few photographs of the life unfolding here. Unfortunately, I couldn’t capture the Saturday and weekday markets that I witnessed a few times. From the perspective of a city person, Čachtice exudes tranquility. I was only allowed to buy newspapers until 11 AM at the kiosk; after that, it was closed. Life seems to be most active on the road from to Nové Mesto nad Váhom.
