Maľ­ba je jeden z naj­star­ších spô­so­bov ako sa člo­vek vyjad­ru­je, ako obja­vu­je krá­su a ako komu­ni­ku­je. Nie je to len spo­je­nie farieb, ale je to meta­fo­ra vnú­tor­né­ho sve­ta. Prvé prav­de­po­dob­ne boli jas­kyn­né maľ­by, kto­ré roz­prá­va­jú pra­dáv­ne prí­be­hy.
