Na Slovensku žije niekoľko druhov sýkoriek, patria do čeľade Paridae. Tieto malé a živé vtáky sú obľúbené pre svoje pestrofarebné operenie a aktívne správanie. Sú pomerne prispôsobivé. Sú aktívne a energické vtáky, ktoré sa živia hmyzom, semenami a inou potravou, ktorú nájdu v okolí. Parus major, hlava a hrdlo sú čierne, boky hlavy sú bieložlté, chrbát je zelenomodrý, brucho je žlté. Je najväčšou sýkorkou na Slovensku. Hniezdi v dutinách stromov. Cyanistes caeruleus má modré vrchné časti tela, žlté brucho a boky. Často sa vyskytuje v záhradách, hniezdi v dutinách stromov. Periparus ater má čiernu čiapku a líca, biely krk a hrdlo a hnedý chrbát. Žije v lesoch, zvlášť v horských oblastiach. Hniezdi v dutinách stromov. Lophophanes cristatus má hlavu zdobenú parožkami, vrchná časť tela je sivá, spodná časť je žltá. Preferuje ihličnaté lesy, hniezdi v dutinách stromov. In Slovakia, there are several types of tits, belonging to the Paridae family. These little, lively birds are popular for their colorful feathers and active behavior. They’re quite adaptable and feed on insects, seeds, and whatever else they find around. Parus major has a black head and throat, yellowish-white sides of the head, a greenish-blue back, and a yellow belly. It‚s the largest tit in Slovakia and nests in tree cavities. Cyanistes caeruleus, with its blue upper body, yellow belly, and sides, is often spotted in gardens and nests in tree cavities. Periparus ater rocks a black cap and cheeks, a white neck and throat, and a brown back. It lives in forests, especially in mountainous areas, and nests in tree cavities. Lophophanes cristatus, sporting a head adorned with „horns,“ has a gray upper body and a yellow lower body. It prefers coniferous forests and nests in tree cavities. Poecile palustris, with its gray head and neck, brown back, and white belly, hangs out in wetlands and stream banks, nesting in tree cavities.

V parku v Piešťanoch sa nachádza, v jeho centrálnej časti, množstvo búdiek, kam chodí celé roky prikrmovať vtáky pán Karol Fano. Už od roku 1970. Nie raz som ho tam stretol. Chodí pravidelne v rovnakú hodinu, vtáky si naňho už určite zvykli. Iste aj vďaka tomu to je vďačné miesto pre fotografa.

Za sledované obdobie celého roka kŕmidlo navštívilo 28 druhov vtákov. Predovšetkým sýkorka veľká a vrabec poľný. Veľmi častými návštevníkmi je brhlík obyčajný, ďateľ veľký a ďateľ prostredný. Často sa objaví drozd čierny, hrdlička záhradná a sýkorka belasá. Občas priletí sýkorka mlynárka, sýkorka uhliarka, sýkorka hôrna, sýkorka chochlatá, zelienka obyčajná, kanárik poľný, pinka obyčajná. Zriedkavo vrabec domový, havran, kavka, vrana popolavá, sojka, škorec, kačica divá. V zime červienka obyčajná, glezg obyčajný, čížik obyčajný, pinka severská, kôrovník dlhoprstý. Občas uloví na kŕmidle nejakého vtáka aj jastrab krahulec (Kaňuščák, 2012).

In the park in Piešťany, in its central part, there are numerous bird feeders where Mr. Karol Fano has been feeding birds for many years, since 1970. I have encountered him there more than once. He consistently visits at the same hour, and the birds have surely grown accustomed to him. Certainly, this has made it a grateful spot for photographers.

Throughout the observed period of the whole year, 28 species of birds have visited the feeder. Particularly common visitors include the great tit and the house sparrow. Other frequent visitors are the great spotted woodpecker, the greater spotted woodpecker, and the middle spotted woodpecker. The blackbird, the common wood pigeon, and the Eurasian blue tit are also seen frequently. Occasionally, the crested tit, the coal tit, the marsh tit, the willow tit, the greenfinch, the common linnet, and the common chaffinch make an appearance. More rarely observed are the house sparrow, the carrion crow, the jackdaw, the hooded crow, the magpie, the jay, the great grey shrike, and the mallard. In winter, the common redpoll, the Eurasian siskin, the common chaffinch, the northern bullfinch, and the long-tailed tit are added to the mix. Occasionally, a sparrowhawk captures a bird at the feeder (Kaňuščák, 2012).
