Devínska Kobyla je unikátna lokalita celosvetového významu

Hits: 6804

patrí k najdlhšie osídleným lokalitám na Slovensku. Už v období 5000 rokov pred n.l. si tu neolitickí roľníci stavali svoje prvé sídla. V 4 storočí pred n.l. sa tu usadili , ktorí začali klčovať . Po nich ovládli územie v 1. storočí n.l. Rimania a založili na juhozápadných svahoch Devínskej Kobyly  (devinskakobyla.sk). Pod severovýchodnými svahmi medzi Dúbravkou a „Technickým sklom“ sa odkryli pozostatky vidieckej usadlosti rímskeho typu – villa rustica z 3. storočia (panorama.sk).

Britský botanik D. Moore v publikácii Plant Life pripravil celosvetový výber prírodovedne osobitne zaujímavých lokalít a z desiatich vymedzených pre celú Európu venoval dve strany Devínskej Kobyle (inba.sk). Patrí do Devínskych Karpát.

Vyskytuje sa tu kavyľ pôvabný Stipa pulcherrina a Stipa joannis, 26 druhov vstavačov (Orchideaceae), hlaváčik jarný Adonis vernalis, poniklec černastý Pulsatilla nigricans, poniklec veľkokvetý Pulsatilla grandis, ľalia zlatohlavá Lilium martagon, kosatec nízky Iris pumila, kosatec dvojfarebný Iris variegata, Platanthera bifolia. Vzácnosťou je ihlica nízka Ononis pusilla, Lathyrus sphaericus, Conringia austriaca, Potentilla pedata, Smyrnium porfoliatum, Bupleurum rotundifolium, Consolida orientalis ssp. paniculata, Aplenium adianthum nigrum (sazp.sk), stepný relikt Gypsophila fastigiata (devinskakobyla.sk).

Svahy Devínskej Kobyly boli pôvodne pokryté dubovo-hrabovými lesmi, ktoré boli v minulosti vyrúbané a následne niekoľko storočí udržiavané ľudskou činnosťou – kosením, pasením a vypaľovaním.

Devínska Kobyla is one of the longest inhabited sites in Slovakia. As early as 5000 years BC, Neolithic farmers established their first settlements here. In the 4th century BC, Celts settled, initiating deforestation. Following them, in the 1st century AD, the Romans dominated the area and founded vineyards on the southwest slopes of Devínska Kobyla (devinskakobyla.sk). Under the northeastern slopes, remnants of a Roman-type rural settlement – villa rustica from the 3rd century, were uncovered between Dúbravka and „Technické sklo“ (panorama.sk).

Geologists refer to the massif of Devínska Kobyla as the „treasury of geological phenomena.“ Approximately 300 million years ago, this area was part of the supercontinent Pangaea. In subsequent periods, the region was repeatedly flooded by the sea, forming limestones and dolomites – Devínska hradná skala, Waittov lom, Štokeravská vápenka, . The Baden Sea, which existed here 14-16 million years ago, shaped a significant fossil site on Devínska Kobyla – Sandberg. and Danube rivers significantly contribute to the formation of Devínska Kobyla. Their beds gradually shifted, and about 600 thousand years ago, their confluence was formed in the area of today’s Devínska Nová Ves. The geological changes moved Devínska hradná skala about 130 thousand years ago (devinskakobyla.sk). Devínska Kobyla is the starting point of the massive Carpathian arc. The Hundsheim Hills on the right bank of the Danube in Austria also belong geologically to the Carpathians. Southern slopes consist mainly of gray limestones, dolomites, and carbonate breccias, dating back 160-180 million years. The summit is composed of Mesozoic cherts, formed by cementation of beach sand (Information Board).

Devínska Kobyla is one of Slovakia’s most unique locations. British botanist D. Moore, in the publication „Plant Life,“ selected globally scientifically interesting locations, dedicating two pages to Devínska Kobyla for the whole of Europe (inba.sk). It is part of the Devínske Karpaty, located in close proximity to – a district of Bratislava, near the confluence of the Morava River with the Danube. It includes Sandberg and is highly frequented. Familiarly known as Kobyla, it boasts a rich variety of natural forms. It exhibits a high degree of biodiversity due to its history as a originally forested area that humans have historically managed, deforested, and cultivated (Wikipedia). Devínska Kobyla used to be grazed by sheep, goats, and cattle, but pasture gradually diminished around the mid-20th century (broz.sk). Devínska Kobyla hosts thousands of animal species, such as the Saga pedo bush-cricket and the Mantis religiosa mantis. Over 600 butterfly species, including the Papilio machaon swallowtail and Parnassius mnemosyne clouded Apollo, more than 380 beetle species, like Lucanus cervus stag beetle, and Cerambyx cerdo great capricorn beetle. Falcons, such as the Falco tinnunculus kestrel, nest on the rocks, while Monticola saxatilis rock thrush occasionally visits. The rare long-necked mantis Mantispa styriaca and the scarce swallowtail Iphiclides podalirius are also found here (devinskakobyla.sk, sazp.sk).

The vegetation is dominated by thermophilic and calcicolous plants, with over 1,100 species of higher plants. Among them are 26 species of orchids, thermophilic insect species adapted to extreme and prolonged periods of drought (broz.sk). The elegant feather grass Stipa pulcherrina and Stipa joannis, 26 species of orchids (Orchideaceae), Adonis vernalis, Pulsatilla nigricans, Pulsatilla grandis, Lilium martagon, Iris pumila, Iris variegata, Platanthera bifolia. Rare species include Ononis pusilla, Lathyrus sphaericus, Conringia austriaca, Potentilla pedata, Smyrnium porfoliatum, Bupleurum rotundifolium, Consolida orientalis ssp. paniculata, and the steppe relic Gypsophila fastigiata (devinskakobyla.sk, sazp.sk).

Devínska Kobyla is the highest peak of the Devínske Karpaty, with an altitude of 514 meters above sea level, and simultaneously the southernmost extension of the . It has legal protection, designated as a National Natural Reserve since 1964, covering an area of 101.12 hectares (Wikipedia). Devínska Kobyla is also a so-called area of European significance, part of the Protected Landscape Area of Malé Karpaty and part of the NATURA 2000 protected areas (broz.sk). Waittov lom, depicted in the photographs, is located near Sandberg, approximately 600 meters towards Devín. In the past, it served as a limestone quarry (slovakia.travel).

Today, Wait’s Quarry is part of the Sandberg – Pajštún Geopark. There are historic quarries on Devínska Kobyla, with quarry walls exceeding 200 meters in length. The vertical walls were created by manual extraction of blocks of porous Neogene limestone. Devínska Kobyla has provided building stone continuously for over 2,000 years. The oldest known use dates back to the 1st century BCE, when a Celtic ruler commissioned the Romans to build a palace on the castle hill in Bratislava. The stone was both durable and easy to work, making it suitable for simple stone carvings and sculptures. Sandy limestones and calcareous sandstones were quarried in the Líščia stráň and Merice locations, directly above Devín. These stones were used, for example, in the construction of St. ‚s Cathedral. The greatest expansion of quarrying occurred in the 15th century, when the material was used for the reconstruction of Bratislava Castle, St. Martin’s Cathedral, the tower of the Franciscan Church, Academia Istropolitana, the Old Town Hall, and various townhouses. Quarrying was mostly surface-based. A new period of development in quarrying began in the mid-19th century with the construction of the railway between Vienna and Budapest, particularly the Bratislava – Marchegg section. Wait’s Quarry was the second largest after the Štokerau Limeworks. Originally, it was called Mittelmann’s Limeworks, as Móric Mittelmann’s limeworks operated between 1897 and 1932, providing stone for riverbank regulation and reinforcement. In March 1929, the quarry was acquired by Jozef Wait, and production at the limeworks gradually declined, ceasing entirely in 1932. On the surrounding land, Jozef Wait established vineyards and an orchard. During World War II, the limeworks site was used as a labor camp for Russian prisoners, who were forced to construct a wooden bridge over the Morava River to Schloss Hof. From a geological perspective, the upper part of Wait’s Quarry is considered the remnant of an ancient underwater cave (Information Board).

The majority of the Devínska Kobyla National Nature Reserve represents a cultural landscape. The slopes of Devínska Kobyla were originally covered by oak-hornbeam forests, which were cleared centuries ago and maintained through human activities such as mowing, grazing, and burning. This led to the formation and preservation of unique meadow and forest-steppe ecosystems, rich in rare thermophilic plant and animal species. Sheep, goats, and cattle historically grazed in the area. In 2013, after more than 50 years, goat grazing was successfully reintroduced. Grazing helps prevent the overgrowth of invasive shrubs and contributes to preserving the traditional forest-steppe character of the region (Information Board).

The observation tower is located at the highest point of Devínska Kobyla, at an elevation of 514 meters above sea level. It stands more than 21 meters tall, with the highest platform positioned approximately 20 meters above the surrounding terrain. The tower offers views of Devínska Nová Ves, as well as the Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary. The observation tower was designed by the architectural studio ARCHITEKTI ŠEBO LICHÝ. A legend suggests that its appearance was inspired by the praying mantis, which inhabits the local environment. However, according to the architects, the structure is based on the genius loci of the site. From this point, one can see into three different countries, which inspired the triangular floor plan of the Devínska Kobyla observation tower. The triangle motif is repeated throughout its design.

Kr. e. 4. században a kelták telepedtek le itt, akik elkezdték erdőket irtani. Utánuk a rómaiak vették át a területet a Kr. u. 1. században, és szőlőültetvényeket alapítottak a Devínska Kobyly délnyugati lejtőin (devinskakobyla.sk).

A geológiai változásoknak köszönhetően a Devínska hradná skala mintegy 130 ezer évvel ezelőtt került át a területre (devinskakobyla.sk). A Devínska hradná skalán kezdődik a Kárpátok hatalmas íve területünkön. Geológiai értelemben a Kárpátokhoz tartoznak Ausztria jobb partján található Hundsheim-hegyek is. A déli lejtőket főként szürke mészkők, dolomitok és karbonát brekciák alkotják. Az üledékek 160-180 millió évvel ezelőtt keletkeztek. A csúcs másodlagos kvarctartalmú homokból kialakult a mezozoikum korszakban (Információs tábla). A Devínska Kobylyon keresztül indul a Kárpátok hatalmas íve területünkön. Geológiai értelemben a Kárpátokhoz tartoznak Ausztria jobb partján található Hundsheim-hegyek is. A déli lejtőket főként szürke mészkők, dolomitok és karbonát brekciák alkotják. Az üledékek 160-180 millió évvel ezelőtt keletkeztek. A csúcs másodlagos kvarctartalmú homokból kialakult a mezozoikum korszakban (Információs tábla).

A Devínska Kobyla az egyik legszigorúbban védett hely Szlovákia egész területén. A brit botanikus, D. Moore, a Plant Life című munkájában a világ számos természeti szempontból érdekes helyéből választott ki, és a tíz európai hely közül két oldalt szentelt a Devínska Kobylynak (inba.sk). A Devínske Karpaty része. Bratislava városrészéhez, a Devínhöz, nagyon közel található. A Morava és a Duna folyók torkolata mellett fekszik. Ide tartozik a Sandberg is. Nagyon gyakran látogatott hely. A „Kobyla“, ahogyan Bratislavában hozzászoktak nevezni, valóban gazdag a természet változatos formáinak palettájában. Magas fokú biodiverzitást mutat, részben azért, mert eredetileg erdős terület volt, ahol azonban történelmileg gazdálkodtak, erdőt irtottak, kaszáltak stb. (Wikipedia). Itt legeltettek juhokat, de kecskéket és is. A legelők körülbelül a 20. század közepéig fokozatosan megszűntek (broz.sk). A Devínska Kobylyon több ezer állatfaj él. Például a Saga pedo sáska, a Mantis religiosa imádkozó sáska. Több mint 600 pillangófaj, például a lepkefarkú lepke Papilio machaon, a Parnassius mnemosyne tollaslepkű, több mint 380 bogárfaj, például a szarvasbogár Lucanus cervus, a nagy szarvasbogár Cerambyx cerdo. A sziklákon fészkel a vércse Falco tinnunculus, és ide is repül a Monticola saxatilis, a keleti rétisas Falco cherrug (devinskakobyla.sk). Több északi elterjedési határon élő faj is él itt. Ritka hosszúnyakú imádkozó sáska, Iphiclides podalirius sáska is előfordul itt (sazp.sk).

Itt a melegkedvelő és mészkövet kedvelő növények dominálnak, összesen több mint 1100 faj magasabb növény nő itt. Közöttük 26 orchidea faj. Itt élnek a száraz időszakokhoz alkalmazkodott melegkedvelő rovarfajok is (broz.sk). Itt található a szép Stipa pulcherrina és Stipa joannis, 26 orchideafaj (Orchideaceae), a tavaszi sáfrány Adonis vernalis, a fekete kankalin Pulsatilla nigricans, a nagyvirágú kankalin Pulsatilla grandis, a törpe liliom Lilium martagon, az alacsony írisz Iris pumila, a kétszínű írisz Iris variegata, a Platanthera bifolia. Rendkívüli ritkaság a kis ononis Ononis pusilla, a gömbölyű levelű pillangós Lathyrus sphaericus, a Conringia austriaca, a Potentilla pedata, a Smyrnium porfoliatum, a Bupleurum rotundifolium, a Consolida orientalis ssp. paniculata, az Aplenium adianthum nigrum sziklai relikvia (devinskakobyla.sk).

A Devínska Kobyla a Devínske Karpaty legmagasabb csúcsa, tengerszint feletti magassága 514 m, és egyben a Kis-Kárpátok legdélibb kiterjesztése. Törvényi védelmet is élvez, 1964 óta Nemzeti Természeti Rezervátum (NPR) 101,12 hektáros területtel (Wikipedia). A Devínska Kobyla az Európai Unió fontos területe, része a Kis-Kárpátok Védett Tájterületének és a NATURA 2000 védett területeknek (broz.sk). A fotókon látható Waittov lom a Sandbergtől nem messze, körülbelül 600 méterre Devín felé. Régebben mészkőbányaként szolgált (slovakia.travel).

Ma a Wait-kőfejtő a Sandberg – Pajštún Geopark része. A kőfejtés többnyire felszíni bányászati módszerekkel történt.

A Devínska Kobyla Nemzeti Természetvédelmi Terület nagy része kultúrtáj.

A kilátótorony a Devínska Kobyla legmagasabb pontján található, 514 méterrel a tengerszint felett.

Birds of prey, or raptors, are characterized as groups of birds that exhibit hunting behavior and possess the ability to capture other animals. They have distinctive sharp talons and strong beaks adapted for catching and processing the meat of their prey. Their excellent vision and flying abilities enable them to efficiently hunt in the air, preying on other birds, small mammals, reptiles, etc. Many species of birds of prey establish territories that they aggressively defend against other raptors. These territories include areas for nesting and hunting. Nesting among birds of prey can occur on cliffs, trees, or even on artificial structures such as electrical poles.

Birds of prey are typically solitary, meaning they spend most of their time alone. However, some species can be social and form groups, especially during migration or hunting. Some species of birds of prey are endangered and face various threats, including habitat loss, persecution, and poisoning from agricultural pesticides.

In culture, birds of prey carry various symbolic meanings, representing strength, courage, and natural instincts. Throughout history, they frequently appear in myths, legends, and heraldry. Birds of prey play a crucial role in ecosystems by regulating the populations of other species they prey upon. Their unique adaptations for a predatory lifestyle make them some of the most remarkable and biologically fascinating birds.

Záhorie, kraj hraničný, ležiaci za horami

Hits: 5467

Záhorie si pamätá pochodovanie rímskych légií, zjednotenie slovanských kmeňov do Veľkomoravskej ríše. Viedli tu nemeckých rytierov i českých kniežat.

Chvojnícka pahorkatina má tri časti: Skalický hájik, Unínsku a Senickú pahorkatinu.

V 5. a 6. storočí sem prichádzali , ktorých atakovali avarské kočovné kmene. Tatársky vpád v rokoch 1241 a 1242 spôsobil zánik dreveno-hlinitých hradov a stavali si kamenné . Od roku 1221 mala Viedeň právo skladu. To znamenalo, že tu tovar museli vyložiť a ponúknuť domácim kupcom. Zároveň boli nútení kupovať od viedenských kupcov drahý tovar privezený zo západu. sa snažili kupci obísť. Kupci prebrodili Dunaj až v Ostrihome a pokračovali po Českej ceste do Trnavy, cez do Jablonice, Senice, Holíča a odtiaľ do Brna, Prahy a veľkomiest západnej Európy.

Myjava, Vrbovce a Sobotište pytlikárstvom.

Záhorie is a region situated between the Czech Republic to the north, Austria to the west, the Small Carpathians to the southeast, and the Danube River to the south. Záhorie has a rich history, witnessing the march of Roman legions, the unification of Slavic tribes into the Great Moravian Empire, and the presence of German knights and Czech princes. For centuries, it has been a borderland. With an area of approximately 2500 km2, Záhorie is home to nearly 300,000 residents (zahorie.sk). The name Záhorie has its roots in the 17th century, derived from the Latin term „Processus transmontanus,“ which referred to the region behind the Small Carpathians, beyond the mountains. Other historical names include Moravské pole na Slovensku, Slovak Pomoravie, Moravská nížina, and Moravský dol. Administratively, Záhorie has never formed a unified entity (zahorie.sk). It includes the districts of Skalica, Senica, Malacky, partially Myjava, and Bratislava – Záhorská Bystrica. The majority of the territory is characterized by the Záhorie Lowland (zahorie.sk).

Human economic activities led to the movement of sand, prompting afforestation of the loose sands in the Záhorie Lowland during the 16th and 17th centuries. However, the natural character of the forests on windy sands was altered by the extensive planting of pine trees (zahorie.sk). Today, Záhorie is known for its pine and riparian forests and sandy soil. Winds are frequent in this region (lozorno.sk). Originally, the Záhorie Lowland was a heavily marshy area with swamps, lakes, and dead river branches. Soft riparian forests still exist on the floodplains of the Morava and Myjava rivers. On higher elevations, there are hard riparian forests. The wetland forests on permanently waterlogged peat soils, such as in the nature reserve Bezdné near Plavecký Štvrtok, are unique. From a botanical perspective, is also remarkable (zahorie.sk).

The Záhorie Lowland is divided into two parts: the Borská Lowland and the Chvojnická Hills. The central part of the Borská Lowland consists of windswept sands northeast of Lozorno and Malacky. To the north, sand dunes rise in Lakšárska Hills. Along the Morava and Myjava rivers, there are the river basins of Myjavská and Dolnomoravská niva, gravel-sand deposits disturbed by river meandering. Between Cerová and Zohor, there is the Podmalokarpatská Depression, where extensive marshy areas formed. The Chvojnická Hills have three parts: Skalický hájik, Unínska, and Senická pahorkatina. Thick layers of loess and loess-like soils are found here. Záhorie also features karst areas in the Small Carpathians – Borinský and Plavecký kras. The Myjavská Hills extend between the Small and White Carpathians (zahorie.sk). The Záhorie Lowland does not have a dense river network, and human activities have significantly altered the original network. The region is relatively dry, with major rivers being the Morava, Myjava, and Rudava. However, significant groundwater reserves are found, especially in the sandy and loamy sands. Numerous water reservoirs, gravel pits, and ponds are also present (zahorie.sk). Most lakes in Záhorie were formed by gravel and sand mining. Caves such as Deravá skala and Pohanská are part of the Malé Karpaty karst (lozorno.sk). Birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon, nest on the rocks and ruins of castles in the Small and White Carpathians (zahorie.sk). Additionally, oil and natural gas deposits have been discovered near Gbely, and industrial mining has been ongoing since 1914 (lozorno.sk).

Záhorie is one of the earliest settled areas in Slovakia. Among the oldest inhabited sites are the Deravá skala cave near Plavecký and a Paleolithic settlement near Sološnica. In the 6th to 5th centuries BCE, the Scythians arrived, followed by the Celts. Settlements from the later Iron Age have been found in places like Myjava, , and Šaštín. The Celts built well-fortified settlements, excelled in metallurgy, and produced tools, weapons, and jewelry (zahorie.sk). The extensive oppidum on Pohanská hill was constructed during this period (lozorno.sk). The Germanic Markomani and Quadi displaced the Celts and Dacians around the turn of the eras. Their scattered tribes also reached Záhorie. The last Germanic tribe in Záhorie were the Lombards in the first half of the 6th century. In the 5th and 6th centuries, Slavs arrived, facing attacks from Avar nomadic tribes. From the time of the Great Moravian Empire, settlements and forts are known in Podbranč, Plavecký Štvrtok, Senica, Rohožník, Stupava, Zohor, Vyšná pri Morave, and Devín (zahorie.sk). After the establishment of Hungary, Záhorie became a border area with the Kingdom of Bohemia and Austria. To protect the borders, tribes like the Sikuls and Plavcs were summoned, and local names like Plavecký hrad, Plavecké Podhradie, Sekule, and others bear witness to their presence (lozorno.sk). The Tatar invasion in 1241 and 1242 led to the destruction of wooden and earthen castles, prompting the construction of stone castles. From 1221, Vienna had the right to store goods, meaning that merchants had to unload and offer their goods to local merchants. Simultaneously, they were forced to buy expensive goods brought from the west by Viennese merchants. Merchants sought to bypass Vienna, crossing the Danube at Esztergom and continuing along the Czech Road to Trnava, over the Small Carpathians to Jablonica, Senica, Holíč, and from there to , Prague, and major cities in Western Europe. This decision elevated the Czech Road to a fundamental European route, around which feudal castle estates began to form in the second half of the 13th and 14th centuries (zahorie.sk).

After the Battle of Mohács in 1526 and the Turkish campaign in 1663, the Slovak population in Záhorie decreased. Croatian colonists became the new ethnic group settling the hills around Myjava, Dúbravka, Lamač, and Záhorská Bystrica. In 1528, Hutterites, a reformist Anabaptist group known as Habans, arrived in western Slovakia. Sobotište became their center. They lived as one large family, collectively managing their affairs, and no one was allowed to have private property. They were involved mainly in pottery and ceramics. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Skalica gained renown for its fine wool. Brezová pod Bradlom became a center for leather and linen production. Myjava, Vrbovce, and Sobotište were known for their bag making. In Šaštín, a cardboard factory was established in 1736, which, until its demise in 1847, was the largest and most famous manufactory in Slovakia. It was one of the largest in Europe, employing almost 20,000 people, with its spinning centers in Lower Austria, especially in Vienna. A majolica manufactory was founded in Holíč. Moreover, it became a center for sheep breeding improvement. In the 1770s, Skalica, with 5,000 inhabitants, was among the ten largest cities in Slovakia. In 1848-49, Myjava was one of the centers of the national movement. The first national assembly was held here, declaring the Slovak National Council as a representative body (zahorie.sk).

In the summer, the largest and most significant meetings of military historical vehicles and clubs of military history in Slovakia, named Sahara and Slovak Sands, take place here. Other cultural events include the Malacky Music Spring, Malacky Cultural Summer, theatrical event Zejdeme se na hambálku, and Apple Harvesting in Malacky, Stupava, and Jabloňovo. Haban Festival in Veľké Leváre, International Children’s Folklore Festival Mravenec in Plavecký Štvrtok, Garden Gallery Alojz Machaj in Plavecký Štvrtok, Beer Festival and Cabbage Cooking Days in Stupava, Village of Crafts and Arts Abeland near Lozorno, Days of Grapes and Wine in Lozorno, Pomoravia Festival in Jabloňovo, Goulash Cooking Competition in Rohožník, folk event Festival Podhoran, Krumpolový deň, gastronomic event Cooking Christmas Sauerkraut in Sološnica, Harvest Festival in Plavecký Petřich, Trdlofest, musical event Musica Sacra, vine-growing Open Barn Day in Skalica, Tereziánske dni, Castle Beer Festivities in Holíč, Castle Celebrations in Podbranč, Aviation Day and ‚s Lantern Parade in Senica, Dragon Boat Races on Kunovská Reservoir (Michaela Janotová, Eduard Timko).

Habaner Festival in Veľké Leváre, International Children’s Folklore Festival Mravenec in Plavecký Štvrtok, Garden Gallery Alojz Machaj in Plavecký Štvrtok, Beer Festival und Cabbage Cooking Days in Stupava, Village of Crafts and Arts Abeland bei Lozorno, Days of Grapes and Wine in Lozorno, Pomoravia Festival in Jabloňovo, Goulash Cooking Competition in Rohožník, folk event Festival Podhoran, Krumpolový deň, gastronomic event Cooking Christmas Sauerkraut in Sološnica, Harvest Festival in Plavecký Petřich, Trdlofest, musical event Musica Sacra, vine-growing Open Barn Day in Skalica, Tereziánske dni, Castle Beer Festivities in Holíč, Castle Celebrations in Podbranč, Aviation Day and Martin’s Lantern Parade in Senica, Dragon Boat Races on Kunovská Reservoir (Michaela Janotová, Eduard Timko).

Hits: 11625

je jadrové pohorie na západnom Slovensku. Patrí do Fatransko-tatranskej oblasti. Od zástupcov hmyzu (fuzáče, , rôzne ) cez obojživelníky (salamandra škvrnitá, skokany), plazy (slepúch, jašterice, vretenica), (z dravcov ojedinele orol kráľovský a sokol rároh, myšiaky, jastraby, zo spevavcov napr. sýkorky, žltochvosty, ďatle) (Wikipedia).

Považský Inovec is a volcanic mountain range in western Slovakia, belonging to the Fatra-Tatra region. Stretching for 48 km with a variable width of 15 to 25 km, it covers an area of 600 km². The highest point of this diverse terrain is the peak Inovec at an elevation of 1,042 meters above sea level. The region has a complex geological structure and is rich in mineral water springs. The mountain range exhibits a variety of flora, with both thermophilic (heat-loving) and mountainous plant species thriving in the area. Human settlement in this region dates back to the Stone Age. Particularly in the northern part, there is a relatively high occurrence of mineral water springs, known locally as „kyselky.“ Among the most important springs are the thermal waters emerging through tectonic faults in , in the area of Kúpeľný ostrov. These thermal waters are a rare type of healing water reaching temperatures of up to 60 °C.

The area is abundant in wildlife, hosting various insects (beetles, stag beetles, different butterflies), amphibians (spotted salamander, frogs), reptiles (slowworms, lizards, vipers), birds (birds of prey such as the golden eagle and peregrine falcon, owls, hawks, and passerines like tits, wagtails, woodpeckers), among others. The name „Inovec“ is related to the fact that the summit of the highest mountain often glows similarly to an innovation. Among the notable landmarks are the Great Moravian court in Kostolec above the village of Ducové, the church of St. George near Nitrianska Blatnica, and the castles of , Topoľčany, Tematín, and Hlohovec. The cave Čertova pec under Havran has revealed the oldest cave settlement in Slovakia. Other interesting locations include Zoofarma Modrová and the peak.
