Mečovky vytvárajú hierarchiu alfa samca a beta samca.

V nich umiestnená samička rodí mladé, a tie buď unikajú do uzavretého priestoru cez priestor úzkych štrbín, alebo prenikajú cez tieto štrbiny do voľného akvária.

Swordtails belong to the livebearer category. Their previous Slovak synonym was Mexican swordtail, but today it is known as the green swordtail. As the species name suggests, it originates from Mexico. Its distribution extends from northern Mexico to the central and western parts of Guatemala and Honduras (Axelrod, Wischnath, 1991). It is one of the most well-known fishes overall. Keeping them is straightforward, but it’s essential to consider that swordtails heavily impact their environment with their excrement. They are literally energy conversion machines, pejoratively referred to as combines” in aquarium slang. Their metabolic transformation is remarkable. They accept various foods like flakes and pellets but should also be provided with a varied diet, including blanched lettuce, spinach, or other vegetables. Swordtails establish an alpha and beta male hierarchy. Sexual dimorphism is evident, with males distinguished by their external genital organ, the gonopodium. Additionally, males are generally slimmer, and they grow a sword-like extension from their caudal fin. Males may engage in occasional fights.

Reproduction is straightforward. Pregnant females can be identified by their full abdomen and a dark spot in the abdominal cavity. Females are cannibalistic, so to raise the fry, preventing direct contact with the mother is necessary. Commercially available breeding traps can serve this purpose. These traps allow the female to give birth, and the fry either escape to a closed compartment through narrow slots or penetrate through these slots into the main tank. The choice depends on personal preference. Similar handcrafted breeding traps can be used for raising other livebearers like Poecilia reticulata, Xiphophorus maculatus, Xiphophorus nezahualcoytl, etc. During birth, it’s crucial to place the female in water with a temperature similar to her accustomed environment. Otherwise, premature births of underdeveloped or dead fry may occur. Swordtail fry are relatively large; they grow slowly in the first month and later exhibit faster growth. It is said that males whose swords grow later tend to have more significant potency than those whose swords develop earlier.

Swordtails are known for their ability to change gender when there is a lack of males in the population. Females transform into males, growing a gonopodium, although it is usually smaller. However, their robust female appearance remains unchanged. Unfortunately, this remarkable change often does not lead to success – transformed males are typically infertile.

Swordtails serve as the basis for numerous breeding experiments, resulting in countless forms. Notable examples include Vienna swordtails, considered among the rarest of standard swordtails. They are characterized by a lighter, pale red color with red eyes and are more delicate than other forms. Almost all males are infertile, with perhaps one in 200 being fertile. Therefore, they are propagated through planned crossbreeding. Other well-known forms include Berlin swordtail, green swordtail, etc. There are also morphological variants like lyre-shaped, veil-shaped, wagtail, delta, etc. Swordtail competitions are organized where they are judged based on established standards.

I register these forms: albino, Belize, Berlin, black, black Hi-fin, black lyretail, blacktail velvet sword, bx, calico Hi-fin, calico lyretail, cd, delta, hx, gold & black, gold lyretail, golden, golden comet, golden Hi-fin, golden wagtail, green, green wagtail, jalapa, lancetilla, lemon, li, lyra, lyretail, lyretail sword, marble, mixed color, mixed color Hi-fin, mixed color lyretail, mystic blue, neon, neon Hi-fin, neon lyretail, neon wagtail, painted sword, pineapple, pineapple Hi-fin, pineapple lyretail, red & white, red albino, red calico, red comet, red eye, red tuxedo, red velvet, red velvet Hi-fin, red velvet lyretail, red wag, red wag Hi-fin, red wag lyretail, rossa, sarabia, Schwerttraeger, sunset, tuxedo, tuxedo Hi-fin, tuxedo lyretail, velvet sword, velvet wag sword, verde masc, white, Wien, wagtail.

Ich melde diese Formen: Albino, Belize, Berlin, Schwarz, Schwarz Hi-Fin, Schwarzlyra, Schwarzschwertschwanz, Bx, Calico Hi-Fin, Calico-Lyra, Cd, Delta, Hx, Gold & Schwarz, Goldlyra, Golden, Goldener Komet, Goldener Wedel, Grün, Grüner Wedel, Jalapa, Lancetilla, Zitrone, Li, Lyra, Lyra-Schwert, Marmor, Mehrfarbig, Mehrfarbig Hi-Fin, Mehrfarbig lyra, Mystic Blue, Neon, Neon Hi-Fin, Neon-Lyra, Neon-Wedel, Gemaltes Schwert, Ananas, Ananas Hi-Fin, Ananaslyra, Rot & Weiß, Rotalbino, Rotcalico, Rotkomet, Rotes Auge, Roter Frack, Rotes Samt, Rotes Samt Hi-Fin, Rote Lyra, Roter Wedel, Roter Wedel Hi-Fin, Roter Wedel lyra, Rossa, Sarabia, Schwertträger, Sonnenuntergang, Frack, Frack Hi-Fin, Fracklyra, Samtschwert, Samt-Wedelschwert, Verde Masc, Weiß, Wien, Wedel.

Najväčšie jazerá sú Neusiedler See (Neziderské) a Bodamské – hraničné, a Atterské jazero (Wikipedia.sk). Často spôsobujú rýchle topenie snehu a záplavy.

V 1. až 5. storočí tu boli rímske provincie Norikum, Récia a Panónia. V 5. storočí nastali germánske a húnske vpády. V 6. storočí slovanské. V 8. storočí Bavori. V 9. storočí patrilo severovýchodné Rakúsko k Veľkej Morave. Ostatná časť podliehala Bavorsku, ktoré patrilo pod Franskú ríšu. Tzv. V roku 1278 porazil Rudolf I. Habsburský Přemysla Otakara II. a vytvoril základ panstva Habsburgovcov.

V Rakúsku žili a pôsobili mnohí svetoznámi hudobní skladatelia: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss starší aj mladší, Gustav Mahler, dirigent Herbert von Karajan. Maliari: Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschk, Egon Schiele, fyzici: Wolfgang Pauli, Erwin Schrödinger, Ludwig Boltzmann, zakladateľ psychoanalýzy Sigmund Freud, etológ Konrad Lorenz, výrobca automobilov Ferdinand Porscheekonóm Friedrich August von Hayek (Wikipedia.cs). Známe sú lyžiarske strediská: Flachau, Altenmarkt, Schladming, Ramsau, Dachstein, Kitzbühel, Hintertux, Kaprun – Zell Am See, Bad Gastein (info-tour.info).

Austria (Rakúsko) is our southern neighbor, and we share a historical connection with it. Its capital city is Vienna (Viedeň). A common greeting in Austria is Grüss Gott,” which means God greet you.”

The name Österreich” translates to Eastern Realm. It originates from Old High German Ostarrichi,” which referred to the Eastern March, the easternmost territory with German inhabitants. The name Austria” is derived from the border fortress Ratgoz, now Raabs, located at the confluence of the Moravian and German Dyje rivers. Austria is divided into 9 federal states (Bundesländer): Burgenland, Niederösterreich (Lower Austria), Oberösterreich (Upper Austria), Kärnten (Carinthia), Salzburg, Steiermark (Styria), Tirol, Vienna, and Vorarlberg. The country has a population of approximately 8.5 million people. The total area of Austria is 83,871 square kilometers, with the majority covered by the Alps, making it the second-highest country in Europe. Brenner Pass serves as a crucial transportation route through the Alps from north to south. Austria’s highest peak is Grossglockner, rising to 3,798 meters above sea level. The alpine region is sparsely inhabited due to its challenging terrain, and the Brenner Pass has been historically significant for travel to Central Europe, Italy, and the Mediterranean. About one-third of Austrians reside in five major cities: Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg, or Innsbruck. Salzburg, known for its well-preserved historical monuments, is sometimes referred to as the Rome of the North.”

The Danube River, flowing entirely within Austria, is navigable. The largest lakes are Neusiedler See (Neziderské) and Bodensee (bordering Germany and Switzerland), and Atterské Jazero. Austria experiences typical alpine weather with temperature fluctuations, varying wind direction and strength. Cold mountain winds rapidly warm up in the valleys, resulting in the formation of foehn winds. These winds often lead to rapid snowmelt and floods. Precipitation, mainly snow, occurs around 250 days a year in mountain slopes facing west and northwest. The Salzburg Alps receive an annual precipitation of up to 2,400 mm, while the Pannonian Plain receives only about 600 mm. Glaciers, primarily in the High Tauern, cover 600 km², contributing to 580 lakes, mostly of glacial origin, especially in the Central Alps. The Danube River flows through Austria for 350 km. The territory of present-day Austria has a rich history, including the Hallstatt culture (700 – 450 BC) and Illyrian settlements (1000 – 400 BC). From 450 BC to the turn of the millennium, Celts inhabited the area (La Tène culture). In the 1st to 5th centuries, it was part of the Roman provinces of Noricum, Raetia, and Pannonia. In the 5th century, Germanic and Hunnic invasions occurred, followed by Slavic settlements in the 6th century and Bavarians in the 8th century. In the 9th century, northeastern Austria belonged to the Great Moravia, while the remaining part was under Bavarian rule within the Frankish Empire. The so-called Eastern March (previously Avar March) formed the basis of today’s Austria. In the first half of the 10th century, it was occupied by the Magyars. After 955, it became the Eastern March of the East Frankish Empire. From the late 10th century, the designation Austria” is documented. Since 1156, it was correctly listed as the Duchy of the Holy Roman Empire. After the extinction of the Babenberg dynasty (9761251), disputes arose between Czech Přemyslids and Hungarian Árpáds. In 1278, Rudolf I of Habsburg defeated Přemysl Otakar II and laid the foundation for the Habsburg rule. Carinthia became part of Habsburg Austria in 1335. In subsequent developments, Bohemia and Hungary joined Austria (1526), and in 1556, Ferdinand I became both the ruler of Austria and the Holy Roman Emperor.

In 1804, Austria underwent a transformation into the Austrian Empire, and in 1806, the Holy Roman Empire ceased to exist. After the revolution of 1848 – 49, a harsh police regime known as Bach Absolutism was implemented. In 1867, the empire was transformed into Austria-Hungary. After World War I, Austria-Hungary was defeated, leading to its breakup into successor states. The First Austrian Republic existed in the interwar period from 1918 to 1938. In 1933, an unsuccessful fascist coup known as the Dollfuss Putsch took place. In 1938, Austria was annexed by Germany in the Anschluss. After World War II, the Second Austrian Republic was established under the administration of the victorious powers in 1945. Since 1955, Austria has been independent and neutral. Around 1527, Austria had a population of 1.5 million, which grew to over 3 million by 1810 and nearly 6 million by 1900. Approximately 98% of Austrians speak German. There is no standardized Austrian German, but Austrian variants exhibit differences from standard German, documented in the Austrian German dictionary. Two main dialects prevail: Alamannic and Bavarian. The national anthem is Land der Berge, Land am Strome” (Land of Mountains, Land by the River). Austria has been home to many world-famous composers, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, the Strauss family, Gustav Mahler, and conductor Herbert von Karajan. Notable painters include Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, and Egon Schiele. Physicists such as Wolfgang Pauli, Erwin Schrödinger, and Ludwig Boltzmann, the founder of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud, ethologist Konrad Lorenz, automobile manufacturer Ferdinand Porsche, and economist Friedrich August von Hayek also lived and worked in Austria. Famous ski resorts in Austria include Flachau, Altenmarkt, Schladming, Ramsau, Dachstein, Kitzbühel, Hintertux, Kaprun-Zell Am See, and Bad Gastein.

Na Braunsbergu často chodia modelári so svojimi modelmi lietať. Braunsberg is a hill above Hainburg. There is a beautiful view of Bratislava and Devin Castle from it.

The oldest significant settlement on Braunsberg dates back to the Hallstatt period, around the 7th to 6th centuries BCE. It was once inhabited by Celts. On the western side of the hill, there is a replica of a Celtic watchtower (Haratíková). It is one of three Celtic hillforts in the area of the Hungarian Gate. The summit reaches 376 meters above sea level. Devin, another hillfort, is located less than 2 km to the northeast. The most significant was the oppidum at Bratislava Castle. It is assumed that the fortifications were built by the Boii over 2000 years ago (Urban). Model aircraft enthusiasts often frequent Braunsberg to fly their models, making it interesting to observe their passion.
