Stránske

Hits: 2746

Stránske got its name from the steep slopes that surround it. The first mention of it dates back to 1368. The construction of the Church of St. Helena began in 1368. In 1858, an earthquake heavily damaged the church, and in 1877, it was closed. Today, only the ruins of the ancient church remain. Near Stránske, there is a historical road from the 14th century. It stretches between Rajecké Teplice and Stránske, connecting the spa town of Rajecké Teplice with the ruins of the Gothic Church of St. Helena in Stránske. The road, now 2 km long, offers views of Lúčanská Malá Fatra with the peaks of Minčol, Veľká Lúka, and Kľak. Towards the southwest, you can see the Strážovské Vrchy, while the Súľovské Vrchy are visible to the west. Along the road, 25 deciduous trees have been planted (Information board).

Martinské hole – známa lyžiarska oblasť

Hits: 3038

Martinské Hole is, for me, a favorite skiing destination. However, it’s not just the skiing potential that makes Martinské Hole special. It’s a mountainous region, part of the Malá Fatra mountain range, characterized by ridges, deep valleys, and dense forests. The views from Martinské Hole are truly breathtaking, showcasing the prominent peaks of Veľký Rozsutec and Malý Rozsutec. During the winter months, Martinské Hole transforms into a winter sports haven.

Located west of , in the Lúčanská Malá Fatra, beneath the towering Veľká Lúka, Martinské Hole has been a hub for skiing and tourism since 1921. The terrain’s slope ranges from 10 to 38 degrees (Rastlislav Mažgút). The ski resort spans an elevation from 1150 to 1456 meters above sea level (martinky.com), situated on the southern slope of Krížava (wikipedia.sk).

Access to the ski resort is possible by car, reaching an elevation of 1240 meters above sea level. During winter, it’s advisable to consider snow chains (slovenske.cz). The first ski lift was erected in 1957, followed by a chairlift in 1974 (martinky.com).

Martinské Hole is not only a skiing destination but also a gateway to the stunning natural beauty of the Malá Fatra mountains. Whether you’re a skiing enthusiast or someone seeking the tranquility of winter landscapes, Martinské Hole offers an unforgettable experience in the heart of Slovakia.
