Barokový Schlosshof
Schlosshof slúžilo ako prázdninové sídlo Habsburgovcov. Nachádza sa neďaleko od Devínskej Novej Vsi. Odporúčam prechádzku cez Cyklomost Slobody, bude to príjemná polhodinka.
Schlosshof served as a holiday residence for the Habsburgs. It is located near Devínska Nová Ves. I recommend taking a walk through the Cyklomost Slobody (Cyclist Bridge of Freedom), it will be a pleasant half-hour stroll.
Schlosshof is a settlement of the town of Engelhartstetten. In the 12th and 13th centuries, the Hof Castle is mentioned as the fortress Hof, belonging to the Eckarstau Castle (Wikipedia). The complex is the largest in Central Europe – spanning over 50 hectares. There are rich gardens, everywhere is full of greenery. In addition, there is a mini zoo, space for a farm, horses, and farm animals. Hof Castle is the largest Baroque building in Austria. Its modern history dates back to 1726 when it fulfilled the wish of Eugene of Savoy. The architect was Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt. Maria Theresa received this castle as a gift in 1755. At the end of the 19th century, Emperor Franz Joseph handed the property over to the imperial army. During World War II, the building served the German army and since 1945, the Soviet army. Reconstruction began only after 2002. Since 2005, the castle has been open to the public (schlosshof.cestovanie.biz).

Rieka Morava
Niva rieky Morava je vzácne územie, patrí medzi najzaujímavejšie lokality v Strednej Európe, niva Moravy patrí medzi významné vtáčie územia Bird Life International. Preteká Českom, Slovenskom a Rakúskom.
The Morava River floodplain is a rare territory, counted among the most interesting locations in Central Europe. The Morava floodplain is recognized as a significant bird area by Bird Life International. It is easily accessible from the town of Stupava. The area is traversed by cycling routes that showcase, among other things, the riparian forests that once dominated this landscape (stupava.sk). The river flows through the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria. Its German name is March. It originates in the Northern Moravia on the southern slope of Králický Sněžník at an altitude of 1380 meters above sea level. It flows into the Danube River directly beneath Devín Castle. The river covers a distance of 329 km (Wikipedia).
The name of the river is one of the oldest Old European hydronyms, predating even the Celts, with its original meaning as water or swamp. The historical region of Moravia also derives its name from the river. The highest flow occurs in spring. In summer, the water level decreases, rising again in autumn (Wikipedia). The river is used for irrigation and hydroelectric power generation. In 1997, the river experienced floods caused by abnormal precipitation in the Jeseníky Mountains. These floods claimed 49 lives, with over 250 villages evacuated, and the damages exceeded 63 billion CZK (Wikipedia CZ).

Signálom pokrýva južnú a strednú Moravu a časť východných Čiech.
Vďaka silnému signálu z vysielača dosahovalo neskôr vysielanie z Brna a Dědíc až na územie Rakúska, kde ho preberala televízia ORF a šírila ďalej.
Raz vypadol signál počas Verdiho opery a obsluha zaradila monoskop a k nemu melódiu “Ole, olé, kupte si zas, ole, olé náš ananas …”.
The Kojál transmitter is a 340-meter-tall broadcasting tower situated on the hill of the same name between the villages of Lipovec and Krásensko, approximately 25 km northeast of Brno. It is the tallest structure in Moravia and the third tallest in the Czech Republic. Its signal covers southern and central Moravia and parts of eastern Bohemia. Constructed between 1957 and 1958, it has been in operation since January 1, 1959 (Wikipedia CS).
In 1968, it became a site of resistance. After the invasion of the Warsaw Pact forces, broadcasting continued from the Brno studio, and a transmission bus with 20 employees fled to Kojál, where their colleagues provided support. Thanks to the strong signal from the transmitter, broadcasting from Brno and Dědice reached as far as Austria, where it was picked up by ORF television and relayed further. In the 1980s, the transmitter underwent reconstruction. During the transition from analog to digital broadcasting, modernization took place. In 2009, the analog signal of ČT2 was switched off here, followed by Nova, ČT1, and Prima in 2011. Initially, around 60 employees worked at the transmitter, but by 2019, only two permanent employees operated it (Wikipedia CS).
The Kojál transmitter is among the essential components of the Czech Radiocommunications infrastructure. It had an excellent reach, reaching approximately 2.5 million inhabitants of the former Czechoslovakia. It was established as the fourth television transmitter in Czechoslovakia. Its steel structure was designed by the outstanding engineer Josef Wanke, who worked at Hutní projekt in Prague at the time. Inside the tower, there was an elevator reaching a height of 290.62 meters, taking about 10 minutes to ascend. Once, during a broadcast of a Verdi opera, the signal failed, and the staff played a tape with the melody “Ole, olé, buy our pineapple again, ole, olé…”. Many complaints were received, accusing the staff of being barbaric. In 1963, there was a mouse plague, and a proficient mouse exterminator named Markup, who knew all the cable routes, was deployed. Markup was an indispensable helper whenever a new cable needed to be pulled somewhere (Jakub Karásek). The transmitter is equipped with an 800 kW backup generator capable of supplying the entire electricity demand within 20 seconds of a power outage (pira.cz).
The transmitter is located on a bleak hill, said to be where the wind mourns. In the 14th century, mothers rested on the hill and breastfed their children. The hill was originally called Kujál, from the word “kujati,” meaning to blow or roar (Jan Celý).
