Plavecký hrad sa vypína nad obcou Plavecké Podhradie. Píše sa rok 1273. V kronike anonymného notára kráľa Bela IV. sa píše o veľkom vojenskom stretnutí uhorského kráľa Ladislava IV. a českého kráľa Přemysla Otakara II. pod hradom Detrek. Názov „Plavecký“ má zrejme pôvod v súvislosti s Plavcami, presnejšie Kumánmi, ktorých úlohou bolo pozorovať pohraničie (odklinaniehradov.sk). Hrad prešiel aj rukami Matúša Čáka, Stibora, Fuggerovcov, Pálfiovcov. Majiteľmi v 15. storočí sa stali grófi zo Svätého Jura a Pezinku. Tí sa pustili do rozsiahlej prestavby, vznikol druhý gotický palác s veľkými reprezentačnými sieňami a predhradie. Vznikla tajná chodba ústiaca do malej puklinovej jaskyne pod hradom. V 16. storočí Fuggerovci posilnili hrad mohutnu delovou baštou. V roku 1706 cisársky generál Siegbert Heister hrad od Rákociho povstalcov dobyl a ťažko poškodil (odklinaniehradov.sk).
Plavecký Hrad (Plavecký Castle) towers above the village of Plavecké Podhradie. The year is 1273. In the chronicle of an anonymous scribe of King Béla IV, there is an account of a major military encounter between the Hungarian King Ladislaus IV and the Czech King Přemysl Otakar II beneath Detrek Castle. The name „Plavecký“ likely has its origin in connection with the Plavci, more precisely the Cumans, whose task was to observe the borderlands (odklinaniehradov.sk). The castle changed hands over time, passing through the ownership of Matúš Čák, Stibor, the Fuggers, and the Pálffys. In the 15th century, the counts of Svätý Jur and Pezinok became the owners. They embarked on an extensive reconstruction, giving rise to a second Gothic palace with grand representative halls and a forecourt. A secret passage leading to a small crevice cave beneath the castle was created. In the 16th century, the Fuggers strengthened the castle with a mighty artillery bastion. In 1706, Imperial General Siegbert Heister captured and heavily damaged the castle during the Rákóczi uprising (odklinaniehradov.sk).
