Z Novej Lesnej je krásny výhľad na celý hlavný masív Vysokých Tatier. Nová Lesná ponúka skvelý priestor pre milovníkov turistiky, lyžovania (Peter Kaclík). Obec leží na styku Popradskej kotliny a juhovýchodného úpätia Vysokých Tatier. Žije tu 1250 obyvateľov. Prvá písomná zmienku je už z roku 1315, založili ju Berzeviczyovci. Obyvateľstvo bolo v hojnom počte nemecké. V obci pôsobil ako učiteľ Ján Stiel (1805 – 1890), ktorému sa pripisuje prvenstvo vo výstupe na Gerlachovský štít. Po vysťahovaní Nemcov obec chátrala. Dnes sa obyvatelia zaoberajú aj rôznymi službami v cestovnom ruchu, početné sú penzióny. Každoročne v lete sa koná medzinárodné atletické podujatie – beh do vrchu z obce na Hrebienok (vysoke-tatry.info).

The village is located at the junction of the Poprad Basin and the southeast foothills of the High Tatras. It is home to 1,250 residents. The first written mention dates back to 1315, and it was founded by the Berzeviczy family. The population was predominantly German. In the village, the teacher Ján Stiel (1805 – 1890) worked, credited with the first ascent of Gerlachovský štít. After the departure of Germans, the village fell into decline. Today, residents are also involved in various services related to tourism, and there are numerous guesthouses. Every summer, an international athletic event takes place – a hill run from the village to Hrebienok (vysoke-tatry.info).
