Hits: 3019

Pred výstavbou muselo byť preložených 12 km železníc a 35 km ciest (Maroš Trnik).

The water reservoir is located on the Váh River, upstream of the town of Púchov. It was constructed between 1949 and 1957 and was initially named the Priehrada mládeže” or Youth Dam” (Wikipedia). It stands as the oldest dam on the Váh River. During its construction, a carbonated water spring erupted from a depth of 67.5 meters. The water exhibited aggressive behavior towards iron and concrete, leading to an extended construction period (teraz.sk). Basalt blocks had to be piled onto the bedrock, which were then covered with concrete (Miro Mikáč). The spring was therapeutic, contributing to the establishment of the healing spa, Nimnica. The damming of the Váh River resulted in the flooding of the village of Okrut and a section of the village of Nosice, leading to the relocation of the inhabitants of the village of Milochov. Prior to construction, 12 km of railways and 35 km of roads had to be rerouted (Maroš Trnik).

The surface area of Nosice Reservoir is 5.7 km², with a volume of 36 million m3. Its maximum depth is 18 meters, and the dam wall is 36 meters high and 472 meters long (Wikipedia). At its widest point, the shores are 1.5 km apart (Maroš Trnik). Nosice is part of the Váh Cascade. Since 1957, it has housed a hydroelectric power plant (Wikipedia), serving the purpose of weekly flow regulation (seas.sk). Nosice Reservoir also serves as a summer recreation area, providing opportunities for swimming, surfing, boating, sailing, and fishing (slovakianguide.sk). At the foot of Hradisko, above the dam wall, a tower-observatory has been erected, offering panoramic views. It’s an excellent spot for observing 160 bird species (Maroš Trnik).

Žijú tu dobrosrdeční a pracovití ľudia. Several sources of drinking water can be found in the area. During World War II, Obyce served as a partisan village. The inhabitants are known for being kind-hearted and hardworking.

The first written records of Obyce date back to 1075, mentioned in a document of the Svätobeňadické opátstvo abbey as part of the property Ebedec.” Obyce had various historical names, including Ebedec, Edeci, Ebeydyz, Ebedech, Ebedych, Ebdecz. In the late 18th century, there was a paper mill in Obyce, which ceased to exist around 1840. However, the name Papierňa” (Paper Mill) still persists in the area, despite the fact that there is now a mountain hut there (obyce.eu).
