ČSOB Marathon – inline korčuliari

V roku 2011 sa ČSOB Marathon konal 25.- 27.3.2011. Súčasťou programu bol aj beh korčuliarov. Niesol názov Erdinger Inline Race. Po prvý krát som videl podobné preteky, bolo to celkom zaujímavé pre mňa. Inlajnisti štartovali pred bežcami snáď polhodinu. Najlepší bežci dobiehali korčuliarov na trati, čo samozrejme nevadí.

In 2011, the ČSOB Marathon took place from March 25 to March 27, 2011. As part of the program, there was also a race for inline skaters called the Erdinger Inline Race. It was the first time I had seen such a race, and it was quite intriguing for me. The inline skaters started about half an hour before the runners. The top runners caught up with the inline skaters on the course, which, of course, was not a problem.

Silvester v Bratislave

Každý rok sa mesto Bratislava pripravuje na posledný deň v roku – Silvester. V poslednom období je vyvrcholením osláv ohňostroj nad Dunajom. Uličky v centre sú večer na Silvestra plné ľudí. Obyvatelia zvyknú variť kapustnicu.

Each year, the city of Bratislava prepares for the last day of the year – New Year’s Eve, also known as Silvester. In recent times, the culmination of the celebrations is the fireworks display over the Danube. The streets in the city center are filled with people on New Year’s Eve. It is a tradition for residents to cook sauerkraut soup for the occasion.

Jašterica na love

Jašterice sú skvelí lovci, využívajú rôzne lovecké techniky. Niektoré jašterice praktizujú aktívny lov, čo znamená, že sa pohybujú a hľadajú potravu. Rýchle druhy jašteríc, ako napríklad leguánovité jašterice, lovia pohyblivé koristi. Ich rýchlosť a obratnosť im umožňujú efektívne sledovať a chytiť hmyz, malé bezstavovce alebo iné jašterice. Niektoré jašterice, napríklad chameleonovité jašterice, používajú pascový lov. Tieto jašterice majú schopnosť pohybovať očami nezávisle na sebe, čo im umožňuje sledovať korisť až do chvíle, keď môžu rýchlo vystreliť svojím jazykom a chytiť ju. Jašterice, ktoré sa živia hmyzom alebo malými bezstavovcami, môžu používať hrabanie ako loveckú techniku. Niektoré druhy jašteríc sú aktívne v noci a lovia za slabého svetla. Ich zrak a iné prispôsobenia im umožňujú loviť aj za tmy.

Lizards are excellent hunters, utilizing various hunting techniques. Some lizards practice active hunting, meaning they move around and search for food. Fast lizard species, such as iguana-like lizards, hunt mobile prey. Their speed and agility allow them to effectively track and catch insects, small invertebrates, or other lizards. Some lizards, like chameleon-like lizards, employ ambush hunting. These lizards have the ability to move their eyes independently, enabling them to monitor prey until the moment they can quickly extend their tongues to catch it. Lizards that feed on insects or small invertebrates may use digging as a hunting technique. Some lizard species are nocturnally active, hunting in low light conditions. Their vision and other adaptations allow them to hunt even in darkness.

Príchod slovenských hokejistov po zisku striebornej medaily

V roku 2012 naši hokejisti nečakane doniesli na Slovensko strieborné medaily z Majstrovstiev sveta. Fotografoval som ako bežný občan, nemal som prístup do “privilegovanej zóny”.

In 2012, our hockey players unexpectedly brought silver medals from the World Championships to Slovakia. I photographed as an ordinary citizen; I did not have access to the “privileged zone.”

Protest Gorila v Bratislave

3.2.2012 sa konal na námestí SNP v Bratislave tzv. Gorila Protest. Bol to podľa všetkého najväčší protest občanov Slovenska voči stavu spoločnosti, voči korupcii od roku 1989. Bola to pre mňa fotografická udalosť, sám ako občan by som sa zrejme takejto akcie nezúčastnil. Navyše ak aj áno, zrejme po krátkom čase by som odišiel, pretože by som sa nudil. Mal som a mám stále veľké názorové rozdiely s tým, čo chceli, resp. neustále menili organizátori. Aj s tým ako sa správali. Chcieť priamu demokraciu, robiť legislatívu cez Internet, diskutovať o všetkom a všetci, výmenný obchod apod. sú utopistické až bláznivé predstavy, ktoré sa vymykajú realite. Samotní organizátori mali pekné ideály, chceli zmeniť a riešiť všetko. Mal som pocit a diskutoval som o tom s viacerými, že vedenie protestov nemá asi tušenie ako funguje štát. Navyše ak vodca rozpráva o tom, že on je len obyčajný človek a necíti sa byť vodcom, rapídne stráca kredit. Šlo o príliš vážne témy. Škoda, že silne prevládali emócie nad rozumom, škoda že sa organizátori nespojili s inteligenciou, kultúrnou obcou. Chýbalo prepojenie, spolupráca. Namiesto toho som vnímal vydeľovanie sa. Dnes, takmer po roku sú zrejme frustrovaní, že nie je vôľa meniť stav vecí verejných, ako som počul v televízii. Je veľká škoda, že sa nevyužil potenciál proti korupcii. Že sa sily rozbili na celkom odlišných ambíciách. Odporučil by som hľadať chyby v sebe. Klesajúci záujem ísť sa zúčastniť “Gorila Protestov” je odrazom reakcie nás všetkých.

Ja som ešte takú davovú silu, aká bola pri fotografovaní, keď sa dav pohol z námestia, ešte nezažil. Terén – námestie SNP a okolie poznám výborne. Mal som šťastie, keď sa dav pohol z námestia ku Úradu vlády, bol som na jedinom mieste viac ako 10 minút. Dav elektrizujúco hučal, bolo to magické, povznášajúce. Napriek tomu, že vládla celkom slušná zima, a vtedy už aj tma, prsty mrzli. Nižšie je výsledok môjho snaženia. Veľká časť fotografií je práve z času, keď sa dav hýbal.

On the 3^rd of February 2012, the so-called Gorilla Protest took place in SNP Square in Bratislava. It was, according to all indications, the largest protest of Slovak citizens against the state of society and corruption since 1989. It was a photographic event for me; as a citizen, I probably would not have participated in such an action. Moreover, even if I did, I would likely have left shortly afterward because I would have become bored. I had and still have significant ideological differences with what the organizers wanted or constantly changed. Also, with how they behaved. Desiring direct democracy, making legislation through the Internet, discussing everything with everyone, barter, etc., are utopian and even crazy ideas that defy reality. The organizers themselves had nice ideals; they wanted to change and address everything. I had the feeling, and I discussed it with several people, that the leaders of the protests probably had no idea how the state functions. Moreover, when a leader talks about being just an ordinary person and does not feel like a leader, he rapidly loses credibility. These were too serious topics. It’s a pity that emotions strongly prevailed over reason, a pity that the organizers did not connect with intelligence, the cultural community. There was a lack of connection, cooperation. Instead, I perceived division. Today, almost a year later, they are probably frustrated that there is no will to change the state of public affairs, as I heard on television. It is a great pity that the potential against corruption was not utilized. That the forces broke up due to entirely different ambitions. I would recommend looking for faults within oneself. The declining interest in participating in the “Gorilla Protests” reflects the reaction of all of us.

I have not experienced such a crowd force, as there was during the photography, when the crowd moved from the square. The terrain – SNP Square and its surroundings – I know very well. I was fortunate when the crowd moved from the square toward the Government Office; I was in one place for more than 10 minutes. The crowd was electrically buzzing; it was magical, uplifting. Despite the quite decent winter weather and the darkness that had already set in, my fingers were freezing. Below is the result of my efforts. A significant portion of the photographs is precisely from the time when the crowd was in motion.
