Once, I was fortunate enough to witness the Easter procession in the late hours from my window. I didn’t have the necessary equipment immediately at hand, but, in my opinion, the result is worth seeing. In the photos, you can see that the procession encircled the entire roundabout, elegantly wound around it, and continued back towards the church from where it originated.

Text: Kornel Duffek It’s late evening, almost night – Easter Vigil. In the distance, a drawn-out chant is heard. Many people are singing, a large choir. The melody is familiar; yes, it’s the Alleluia. A procession is moving down the street – altar boys in the front, behind them a priest with the monstrance, and the faithful. They are celebrating the Resurrection feast. The Easter procession in , originating from the Church of St. Cyril and Methodius, is different from others in that it passes through two roundabouts. At both, police officers stand, stopping traffic so the procession can pass undisturbed. Meanwhile, the continuously singing faithful turn at the second roundabout and slowly make their way back to the church.

was the coronation city of Hungarian kings. This tradition has been revived since 2003, and Coronation Festivities are held here annually. Typically, they take place on the first weekend of September, but in 2011, commemorating the 270th anniversary of Maria Theresa’s coronation on June 25, the event occurred on a different date. In 2003, Maximilian II was crowned, portrayed by Matej Landl. In 2004, Maria of Spain (Anna Šišková), in 2005, Rudolf II (Vladimír Hajdu), in 2006, Matthias II (Martin Nikodým), in 2007, Anna of Tyrol (Zuzana Fialová), in 2008, Ferdinand II (Maroš Kramár), in 2009, Maria Anna of Spain (Ivana Surovcová), and in 2010, Ferdinand IV Habsburg (Emil Zvarík) were crowned (Wikipedia).

Hits: 2029

V roku 2012 naši hokejisti nečakane doniesli na Slovensko strieborné medaily z Majstrovstiev sveta. Fotografoval som ako bežný občan, nemal som prístup do „privilegovanej zóny“.

In 2012, our hockey players unexpectedly brought silver medals from the World Championships to Slovakia. I photographed as an ordinary citizen; I did not have access to the „privileged zone.“

Historická regata v Benátkach

Hits: 3120

The Historical Regatta in Venice is an attractive cultural event that attracts a large number of visitors. The event recalls famous moments in Venetian history, especially the glorious medieval victories. During the regatta, you can see many Venetian gondolas and other historical boats, beautifully adorned and manned by rowers in period costumes.

The Historical Regatta takes place regularly in Venice on the first Sunday of September. The event has an incredible tradition that is palpable and overflowing. It has been held since 1315, primarily along the Grand Canal. The Historical Regatta has both its festive historical and more sports-oriented parts. I would evaluate the overall character of the event as cultural-social with a relatively strong sense of patriotism for the locals. It was evident that this event was a soul-soothing experience, especially for the more mature inhabitants of the city. The boats were beautifully decorated in the ceremonial part, and the crews were also nicely dressed. In the sports section, there were competitions in various categories, and I only watched the beginning. Women, men, and children competed, all elegantly coordinated, of course.
