Po tom­to oddy­chu vraj neoby­čaj­ne svie­ži pokra­čo­va­li v ces­te (pies​ta​ny​-spa​.info). His­tó­ria mes­ta Pieš­ťa­ny je úzko spä­tá s roz­vo­jom kúpeľ­níc­tva v 16. sto­ro­čí. Prvý pod­rob­ný opis pra­me­ňov pochá­dza od pre­fek­ta Šariš­ské­ho hra­du a krá­ľov­ské­ho rad­cu Jura­ja Werh­ne­ra z roku 1545. Neskor­šie opi­sy pochá­dza­jú od leká­ra rakús­kych cisá­rov Johan­na Cra­ta de Craf­he­i­ma z roku 1571, od osob­né­ho leká­ra pápe­ža Six­ta V. Andrea Bac­ciu­sa Elpi­dia­nu­sa z roku 1588, od nemec­ké­ho ces­to­va­te­ľa Mar­ti­na Zeil­le­ra z roku 1632. Naj­sláv­nej­ší opis kúpe­ľov pochá­dza od Ada­ma Tra­jan v bás­ni Salu­ber­ri­mae Pis­ti­nien­ses Ther­mae z roku 1642. V roku 1772 sa v Pieš­ťa­noch obja­vu­je význam­ný bal­neo­lóg, pro­fe­sor Hein­rich J. von Cranz. Až po jeho náv­šte­ve posta­vi­li prvú stá­lu budo­vu kúpe­ľov, dovte­dy sa pou­ží­va­li iba jamy vyko­pa­né v zemi.

The hea­ling effects of ther­mal mine­ral water and sul­fur mud were first desc­ri­bed by phy­si­cians in the 14^th cen­tu­ry (danu​bius​ho​tels​.sk). It is even said that the hea­ling effects of the springs were dis­co­ve­red by Roman sol­diers. They res­ted on a mud­dy mea­dow near the Váh River after a long and exhaus­ting jour­ney. After this rest, they repor­ted­ly con­ti­nu­ed the­ir jour­ney remar­kab­ly ref­res­hed (pies​ta​ny​-spa​.info). The his­to­ry of the town of Pieš­ťa­ny is clo­se­ly tied to the deve­lop­ment of bal­neo­lo­gy in the 16^th cen­tu­ry. The first detai­led desc­rip­ti­on of the springs comes from the pre­fect of Šariš Cast­le and roy­al coun­ci­lor Juraj Werh­ner in 1545. Later desc­rip­ti­ons are from the phy­si­cian of the Aus­trian empe­rors Johann Cra­to de Craf­he­im in 1571, the per­so­nal phy­si­cian of Pope Six­tus V. Andrea Bac­ciu­sa Elpi­dia­nu­sa in 1588, and the Ger­man tra­ve­ler Mar­tin Zeil­ler in 1632. The most famous desc­rip­ti­on of the baths comes from Adam Tra­jan in the poem ​“Salu­ber­ri­mae Pis­ti­nien­ses Ther­mae” from 1642. In 1772, the sig­ni­fi­cant bal­neo­lo­gist, Pro­fes­sor Hein­rich J. von Cranz, appe­a­red in Pieš­ťa­ny. Die hei­len­den Wir­kun­gen von Thermal-​Mineralwasser und Sch­we­felsch­lamm wur­den ers­tmals von Ärz­ten im 14. Jahr­hun­dert besch­rie­ben (danu​bius​ho​tels​.sk). Začiat­kom 19. sto­ro­čia dal Jozef Erdödy vybu­do­vať v kla­si­cis­tic­kom štý­le prvé muro­va­né kúpeľ­né budo­vy, kto­ré boli dobu­do­vá­va­né a pre­sta­vo­va­né v prie­be­hu celé­ho 19. sto­ro­čia. (Wiki­pé­dia). Pred Win­te­rov­ca­mi mali v pre­náj­me kúpe­le vie­den­ský pod­ni­ka­teľ Sch­midt a hlo­hov­ský inži­nier Skar­nit­zel. O kúpe­le sa nesta­ra­li, ich stav bol vte­dy kata­stro­fál­ny. V rokoch 1889 – 1940 boli Ale­xan­der, Imrich a Ľudo­vít Win­ter vedú­ci pra­cov­ní­ci fir­my ​“Ale­xan­der Win­ter a syno­via, pod­nik gene­rál­ne­ho pre­náj­mu kúpe­ľov”. Tes­ne pred kon­com voj­ny, 18.9.1918 pod­pí­sal Win­ter s gró­fom Vilia­mom Erdödym zmlu­vu na pre­dĺže­nie pre­náj­mu kúpe­ľov o 90 rokov (Urbá­nek T., 2008, Pieš­ťan­ský týž­deň, Nr. 38, p. 4). Ale­xan­dra Win­te­ra na pod­ni­ka­teľ­ský roz­mach inšpi­ro­va­la aj vlá­da Uhor­ska, kto­ré si v roku 1867 vybo­jo­va­lo istú nezá­vis­losť od Habs­bur­gov­cov. Vlá­da vyzva­la obča­nov, aby ​“kaž­dá pod­ni­kal samos­tat­ne z vlast­nej sily a z vlast­ných pros­tried­kov”. Ale­xan­der Win­ter sa výzvou nad­chol a roz­ho­dol sa pre­na­jať si Pieš­ťan­ské kúpe­le. Do Pieš­ťan vte­dy cho­die­va­lo v lete len asi 1 000 pacien­tov, kto­rí ale zväč­ša nebý­va­li v Kur­ho­te­li, kde bolo 30 izieb. Vybu­do­val kúpeľ­nú Robot­níc­ku nemoc­ni­cu, v kto­rej sa moh­li lie­čiť aj nema­jet­ní ľudia ak nákla­dy bol ochot­ný zná­šať zamest­ná­va­teľ, ale­bo obec. Nasle­do­val veľ­ký sta­veb­ný roz­mach. Budo­va­li sa ochran­né hrá­dze pro­ti povod­niam, nové kúpeľ­né pries­to­ry, pro­me­ná­dy, par­ky, kaviar­ne, hote­ly, kúpa­lis­ko, gol­fo­vé ihris­ko, múze­um, dláž­di­li sa ces­ty, budo­va­la kana­li­zá­cia, vodo­vod …Napr. aj seces­ný hotel Ther­mia Pala­ce (Eva Čobe­jo­vá).

Begin­ning of the 19^th cen­tu­ry, Jozef Erdödy had the first brick bath­hou­ses built in the neoc­las­si­cal sty­le, which were expan­ded and reno­va­ted throug­hout the enti­re 19^th cen­tu­ry (Wiki­pe­dia). Befo­re the Win­ters, Vien­na entrep­re­ne­ur Sch­midt and Hlo­ho­vec engi­ne­er Skar­nit­zel lea­sed the baths. They neg­lec­ted the baths, and the­ir con­di­ti­on was catas­trop­hic. From 1889 to 1940, Ale­xan­der, Imrich, and Ľudo­vít Win­ter were the lea­ding figu­res in the com­pa­ny ​“Ale­xan­der Win­ter and Sons, a busi­ness for the gene­ral lea­se of baths.” Short­ly befo­re the end of the war, on Sep­tem­ber 18, 1918, Win­ter sig­ned an agre­e­ment with Count Viliam Erdödy to extend the lea­se of the baths for 90 years (Urbá­nek T., 2008, Pieš­ťan­ský týž­deň, Nr. 38, p. 4). The ins­pi­ra­ti­on for Ale­xan­der Win­te­r’s entrep­re­ne­urial suc­cess also came from the govern­ment of Hun­ga­ry, which, in 1867, had won a cer­tain inde­pen­den­ce from the Habs­bur­gs. The govern­ment cal­led on citi­zens to ​“under­ta­ke inde­pen­den­tly from the­ir own strength and resour­ces.” Ale­xan­der Win­ter was ent­hu­sias­tic about this call and deci­ded to lea­se the Pieš­ťa­ny baths. At that time, only about 1,000 patients visi­ted Pieš­ťa­ny in the sum­mer, and most of them did not stay at the Kur­ho­tel, which had 30 rooms. He built the Wor­kers’ Hos­pi­tal, whe­re even the less for­tu­na­te could rece­i­ve tre­at­ment if the emplo­y­er or the muni­ci­pa­li­ty was wil­ling to bear the costs. This was fol­lo­wed by a major cons­truc­ti­on boom. Pro­tec­ti­ve embank­ments were built against flo­ods, new spa are­as, pro­me­na­des, parks, cafes, hotels, a swim­ming pool, a golf cour­se, a muse­um, roads were paved, and sewa­ge and water supp­ly sys­tems were built. For exam­ple, the Art Nouveau-​style Ther­mia Pala­ce hotel (Eva Čobejová).

V novem­bri 1938 sa Ľudo­vít Win­ter dozve­del, že gróf Viliam Erdödy je prívr­žen­com Hit­le­ra a chce odpre­dať kúpe­le isté­mu nemec­ké­mu kon­zor­ciu. V mar­ci 1939 pre­to navrhol pre­zi­den­to­vi Tiso­vi, že odo­vzda­jú kúpe­le účas­tin­nej spo­loč­nos­ti, len žia­da­jú pone­chať dvom Win­te­rov­com skrom­né zamest­na­nie. Tiso vycí­til nebez­pe­čen­stvo a podal návrh vlá­de na pre­vza­tie kúpe­ľov. Celý maje­tok sa na zákla­de vlád­ne­ho uzne­se­nia dostal pod núte­nú sprá­vu. 20.10.1940 boli kúpe­le od Erdödy­ov­cov vyvlast­ne­né a sta­li sa majet­kom štá­tu (Urbá­nek T., 2008, Pieš­ťan­ský týž­deň, Nr. 38, p. 5). Ter­mál­ne pra­me­ne sú v pova­žan­skom zlo­mo­vom pás­me, v hĺb­ke 2 000 met­rov. Voda sa aku­mu­lu­je v bur­gi­dal­ských (miocén­nych) sedi­men­toch Podu­naj­skej pan­vy. Pra­me­ne sú sírnato-​hydrouhličitanové, vápenato-​horčíkaté, a sír­ne. Ich tep­lo­ta je 67 – 69 °C, s obsa­hom oko­lo 1.5 g/​l mine­rál­nych látok a s obsa­hom ply­nov, naj­mä siro­vo­dí­ka. Väč­ši­na pra­me­ňov, kto­ré vyvie­ra­jú na Kúpeľ­nom ostro­ve je zachy­te­ná v hĺb­kach 50 – 60 met­rov, čím sa vylú­či­la mož­nosť kon­ta­mi­ná­cie s povr­cho­vou vodou, kon­štan­tnosť tep­lo­ty (slo​ven​ske​.info). Vďa­ka tomu sa v Pieš­ťa­noch úspeš­ne roz­ví­ja bal­neo­te­ra­pia, vodo­lieč­ba, reha­bi­li­tá­cia. Lie­či sa tu množ­stvo poú­ra­zo­vých sta­vov, cho­ro­by pohy­bo­vé­ho ústro­jen­stva apod..

In Novem­ber 1938, Ľudo­vít Win­ter lear­ned that Count Viliam Erdödy was a sup­por­ter of Hit­ler and wan­ted to sell the baths to a cer­tain Ger­man con­sor­tium. In March 1939, he pro­po­sed to Pre­si­dent Tiso that they hand over the baths to a par­ti­ci­pa­ting com­pa­ny, requ­es­ting only to lea­ve modest emplo­y­ment for the two Win­ters. The long-​term reac­ti­on of ther­mal water with soft rocks and spe­ci­fic bac­te­rial mic­rof­lo­ra forms mud, thanks to which the baths owe the­ir good repu­ta­ti­on (inter​spa​.sk). Mud con­ducts heat well, cools four times slo­wer than water, and has high vis­co­si­ty (danu​bius​ho​tels​.sk). Most of the springs that emer­ge on the Spa Island are cap­tu­red at depths of 50 – 60 meters, eli­mi­na­ting the possi­bi­li­ty of con­ta­mi­na­ti­on with sur­fa­ce water, ensu­ring cons­tant tem­pe­ra­tu­re (slo​ven​ske​.info). Thanks to this, in Pieš­ťa­ny, bal­neo­t­he­ra­py, hyd­ro­t­he­ra­py, and reha­bi­li­ta­ti­on are suc­cess­ful­ly deve­lo­ped. It tre­ats a varie­ty of post-​traumatic con­di­ti­ons, dise­a­ses of the mus­cu­los­ke­le­tal sys­tem, etc.

Im Novem­ber 1938 erfuhr Ľudo­vít Win­ter, dass Graf Viliam Erdödy ein Anhän­ger Hit­lers ist und die Bäder an ein bes­timm­tes deuts­ches Kon­sor­tium ver­kau­fen möch­te. Okto­ber 1940 wur­den die Bäder von den Erdödys ente­ig­net und wur­den Sta­ats­be­sitz (Urbá­nek T., 2008, Pieš­ťan­ský týž­deň, Nr. 38, S. 5). Okrem páva korun­ka­té­ho Pavo cris­ta­tus sa tu nachá­dza­jú aj iné vtá­ky: bažant zla­tý – Chry­so­lop­hus pic­tus, bažant strie­bor­ný – Gen­na­e­us nyct­he­me­rus, bažant krá­ľov­ský – Syr­ma­ti­cus ree­ve­sii, hrd­lič­ka chi­cho­ta­vá – Strep­to­pe­lia rose­og­ri­sea (Infor­mač­ná tabu­ľa) Ther­mia Pala­ce – je dnes päť­hviez­dič­ko­vý hotel, mimo­cho­dom bol prvým, kto­rý spl­nil také­to kri­té­ria. Je to nád­her­ná budo­va za Kolo­nád­nym mos­tom, o kto­ré­ho posta­ve­nie sa v roku 1912 zaslú­žil Ľudo­vít Win­ter (Urbá­nek T., 2008, Pieš­ťan­ský týž­deň, Nr. 38, p. 4). Vo feb­ru­ári 1917 tu roko­va­li o vede­ní voj­ny tra­ja cisá­ri, Wil­helm II Hohen­zol­lern, rakús­ky cisár Karol I. Habs­burg a bul­har­ský cár Fer­di­nand I. Koburg. (Wiki­pé­dia). Odpo­rú­čam si ju pozrieť z oboch strán.

Pea­fo­wls are part of the spa expe­rien­ce in Pieš­ťa­ny. After a bre­ak of over 30 years, the Pieš­ťa­ny spas revi­ved the tra­di­ti­on of pea­fo­wl bre­e­ding on Spa Island, which was star­ted by the Win­ters. Accor­ding to legend, it was a pea­fo­wl that reve­a­led the hea­ling effects of ther­mal waters and mud (Jana Beňač­ko­vá, Kor­nel Duf­fek, Ladis­la Ďurač­ka, Dušan Knap, Sta­ni­slav Kra­toch­víl, 2007: Pea­fo­wls back on Spa Island, Revue Pieš­ťa­ny No. 1, p. 12 – 13). Edo Kľu­bi­ca Seke­ra pub­lis­hed a sto­ry in the Salu­ber­ri­mae Pis­ti­nien­ses Ther­mae maga­zi­ne, No. 2 – 3 in 1948, whe­re a chil­ly pea­fo­wl noti­ced that its stay in the mud by the river was bene­fi­cial. Ini­tial­ly, they were behind the lakes, but today they are in a rela­ti­ve­ly lar­ge area just behind the dam, behind the Kolo­nád­ny Brid­ge on the left side. In other words, in front of the EVA swim­ming pool and near the lakes. Pfau­en gehören zu den Bädern in Pieš­ťa­ny. Nach einer über 30-​jährigen Pau­se knüpf­ten die Bäder von Pieš­ťa­ny an die Tra­di­ti­on der Pfle­ge von Pfau­en auf der Kúpeľ­ný Insel an, die bere­its von den Win­ters begon­nen wur­de. Legen­de nach war es ein Pfau, der die hei­len­de Wir­kung von Ther­ma­lwas­ser und Sch­lamm ent­hüll­te (Jana Beňač­ko­vá, Kor­nel Duf­fek, Ladis­la Ďurač­ka, Dušan Knap, Sta­ni­slav Kra­toch­víl, 2007: Pfau­en wie­der auf der Kúpeľ­ný Insel, Revue Pieš­ťa­ny Nr. 1, S. 12 – 13). Edo Kľu­bi­ca Seke­ra veröf­fen­tlich­te eine Ges­chich­te im Salu­ber­ri­mae Pis­ti­nien­ses Ther­mae Maga­zin, Nr. 2 – 3 im Jahr 1948, in der ein frie­ren­der Pfau bemer­kte, dass sein Aufent­halt im Sch­lamm am Fluss vor­te­il­haft war. Anfangs waren sie hin­ter den Seen, heute sind sie in einem rela­tiv gro­ßen Bere­ich direkt hin­ter dem Damm, hin­ter der Kolonádny-​Brücke auf der lin­ken Sei­te. Mit ande­ren Wor­ten, vor dem Sch­wimm­bad EVA und in der Nähe der Seen. Neben dem gek­rön­ten Pfau Pavo cris­ta­tus fin­den sich hier auch ande­re Vögel: Gold­fa­san – Chry­so­lop­hus pic­tus, Sil­ber­fa­san – Gen­na­e­us nyct­he­me­rus, Königs­fa­san – Syr­ma­ti­cus ree­ve­sii, Lach­tau­be – Strep­to­pe­lia rose­og­ri­sea (Infor­ma­ti­ons­ta­fel) Ther­mia Pala­ce – ist heute ein Fünf-​Sterne-​Hotel, übri­gens war es das ers­te, das sol­che Kri­te­rien erfüll­te. Es ist ein wun­ders­chönes Gebä­u­de hin­ter der Kolonádny-​Brücke, des­sen Bau im Jahr 1912 Ľudo­vít Win­ter zu ver­dan­ken ist (Urbá­nek T., 2008, Pieš­ťan­ský týž­deň, Nr. 38, S. 4). Im Feb­ru­ar 1917 ver­han­del­ten hier drei Kai­ser, Wil­helm II Hohen­zol­lern, der öster­re­i­chis­che Kai­ser Karl I. und der bul­ga­ris­che Zar Fer­di­nand I., über die Kriegs­füh­rung (Wiki­pe­dia). Ich emp­feh­le, es von bei­den Sei­ten zu betrachten.

Irma je budo­va kúpe­ľov, v kto­rej pre­bie­ha­jú mno­hé pro­ce­dú­ry. Suse­dí s Ther­mi­ou, z kto­rou je spo­je­ná chod­bou. Kúpe­le Irma nesú meno po gróf­ke Erdődy­o­vej. V Irme je bah­nis­ko posta­ve­né pria­mo na ter­mál­nom pra­me­ni, čo je európ­sky uni­kát. Už od roku 1912 tu pre­bie­ha švéd­ska gym­nas­ti­ka, elek­tro­lieč­ba, štvor­va­nič­ko­vé kúpe­le, inha­la­tó­rium. Dnes tu je aj zrkad­lis­ko, bah­nis­ko, trakč­ný bazén, reha­bi­li­tač­ná časť, vaňo­vé odde­le­nie, suchý uhli­či­tý kúpeľ, sau­na, suchá trak­cia. Pre­bie­ha tu vodo­lieč­ba, mag­ne­to­te­ra­pia, fit­nes a mno­hé iné (Jana Beňač­ko­vá, Tomáš Hud­co­vič, 2007: Kom­fort a luxus v Kúpeľ­nom dome Irma, Revue Pieš­ťa­ny, No. 2, p. 5 – 6). Pro Pat­ria – je dnes bal­neo­te­ra­pe­utic­ké a uby­to­va­cie zaria­de­nie. Posta­ve­ná bola v roku 1916 (Urbá­nek T., 2008, Pieš­ťan­ský týž­deň, Nr. 38, p. 4). Ako malý som v nej kedy­si bol reha­bi­li­to­va­ný aj ja. Fon­tá­na pre­zi­den­tov pred Irmou bola pome­no­va­ná pri prí­le­ži­tos­ti stret­nu­tia pre­zi­den­tov kra­jín V4-​ky 12. – 13. sep­tem­bra 2008.

Irma is a spa buil­ding whe­re many pro­ce­du­res take pla­ce. It is adja­cent to Ther­mia and con­nec­ted by a cor­ri­dor. The Irma Spa bears the name of Coun­tess Erdődy. In Irma, the­re is a mud pool direct­ly built on the ther­mal spring, which is a Euro­pe­an uni­que fea­tu­re. Sin­ce 1912, Swe­dish gym­nas­tics, elect­rot­he­ra­py, four-​cell baths, and an inha­la­to­rium have been offe­red here. Pro Pat­ria is a bal­neo­t­he­ra­pe­utic and accom­mo­da­ti­on faci­li­ty today, built in 1916 (Urbá­nek T., 2008, Pieš­ťan­ský týž­deň, No. 38, p. 4). I was reha­bi­li­ta­ted the­re when I was litt­le. The Pre­si­dents’ Foun­tain in front of Irma was named on the occa­si­on of the mee­ting of the V4 coun­tries’ pre­si­dents on Sep­tem­ber 12 – 13, 2008.

Irma ist ein Kur­haus, in dem vie­le Behand­lun­gen statt­fin­den. Es liegt neben Ther­mia und ist durch einen Gang ver­bun­den. Das Irma Spa trägt den Namen der Grä­fin Erdődy. In Irma befin­det sich ein Sch­lamm­bec­ken, das direkt über der Ther­ma­lqu­el­le gebaut wur­de, was in Euro­pa ein­zi­gar­tig ist. Seit 1912 wer­den hier sch­we­dis­che Gym­nas­tik, Elek­tro­t­he­ra­pie, Vier­zel­len­bä­der und ein Inha­la­to­rium ange­bo­ten. Heute gibt es auch einen Spie­gel­raum, ein Sch­lamm­bec­ken, ein Trak­ti­ons­bec­ken, einen Reha­bi­li­ta­ti­ons­be­re­ich, eine Wan­ne­nab­te­i­lung, ein troc­ke­nes Koh­len­sä­u­re­bad, eine Sau­na, eine troc­ke­ne Trak­ti­on, Hyd­ro­t­he­ra­pie, Mag­ne­tot­he­ra­pie, Fit­ness und vie­les mehr (Jana Beňač­ko­vá, Tomáš Hud­co­vič, 2007: Kom­fort und Luxus im Irma Spa Hou­se, Revue Pieš­ťa­ny, Nr. 2, S. 5 – 6). Pro Pat­ria ist heute eine bal­neo­t­he­ra­pe­utis­che und Unter­kunft­se­in­rich­tung, erbaut im Jahr 1916 (Urbá­nek T., 2008, Pieš­ťan­ský týž­deň, Nr. 38, S. 4). Ich wur­de als Kind dort reha­bi­li­tiert. Der Brun­nen der Prä­si­den­ten vor Irma wur­de anläss­lich des Tref­fens der Prä­si­den­ten der V4-​Länder am 12. – 13. Sep­tem­ber 2008 benannt.
