Obec Žadovica leží na priesečníku Nového Mesta nad Váhom a Brezovej pod Bradlom a Myjavou s Hornou Stredou. Tkáčstvo, keramikárstvo tvoria identitu Žadovice.
The village of Žadovica is located at the intersection of Nové Mesto nad Váhom and Brezová pod Bradlom, along with Myjava and Horná Streda. Weaving and pottery form the identity of Žadovica.
Je to trochu zvláštne, aj na Slovensku máme Jeruzalem :-)). Medzi Matejovcom a Sychrovom sa nachádza Jeruzalem, malá dedina na Myjave.
Pôvod názvu je nejasný, kedysi tu boli všade lesy, ľudia sa v nich usádzali. Jedna z verzií hovorí o tom, že jeden z prvých dobre poznal bibliu a on toto miesto nazval Jeruzalem. V minulosti tu natáčali päť filmov. Hriech, Prípad Evy Burdovej, Najatý klaun, Zlatý chlieb, Šípková Ruženka. Dodnes však v Jeruzaleme nemajú plyn, vodovod, kanalizáciu. Vodu ťahajú zo svojich studní. Len relatívne nedávno tu vybudovali normálnu cestu, dovtedy tu bola len poľná. V minulom storočí bývalo v osade najviac 50 ľudí. Dnes je ich dvanásť, zo štrnástich domov je trvalo obývaných sedem, ostatné majú chalupári. V lete ticho prerušia cirkulárky, na ktorých si chystajú drevo na zimu. Po nociach občas besnejú psy, okolo osady je totiž plno diviakov, jeleňov (pluska.sk).
It’s a bit unusual, but yes, we have a Jerusalem in Slovakia too! Between Matejovce and Sychrov lies Jerusalem, a small village in Myjava.
The origin of the name is unclear. Once, there were forests everywhere, and people settled in them. One version of the story says that one of the first settlers was very knowledgeable about the Bible and named this place Jerusalem. In the past, five films were shot here: Hriech, Prípad Evy Burdovej, Najatý klaun, Zlatý chlieb, and Šípková Ruženka. However, Jerusalem still lacks gas, water, and sewage systems. Residents get their water from wells. A proper road was only built here relatively recently; before that, there was only a dirt road. In the last century, the settlement had a maximum of 50 inhabitants. Today, there are twelve residents, with seven of the fourteen houses being permanently inhabited, while the rest are used as holiday homes. In summer, the silence is occasionally broken by circular saws as people prepare firewood for winter. At night, barking dogs can sometimes be heard because the area is full of wild boars and deer.
Hrachovište je obec na Myjave. Prvá písomná zmienka o obci je z roku 1392 pod názvom Hrachowich (hrachoviste.sk). Významný je barokový rímsko-katolícky kostol Navštívenia Panny Márie z 18. storočia (Zdroj: Informačná tabuľa). Nad obcou je hora Plešivec. Prekvitalo tu v minulosti košikárstvo (hrachoviste.sk). Obec leží na juhovýchode Myjavskej pahorkatiny a v Čachtických vrchoch pri úpätí Malých Karpát v doline Jablonky. V roku 1715 tu bolo 51 domov. V súčasnosti má obec 738 obyvateľov (hrachoviste.sk). Kvôli záplavám bolo Hrachovište niekedy nazývané katolíckymi Benátkami. V 20. storočí žil v obci Pavol Straka, ktorý sa dožil 116 rokov a bol nielen najstarším občanom Rakúsko-Uhorska, ale pravdepodobne aj Európy. K niektorým zaujímavým zvykom patrí, že chlapci na Luciu chodil poobliekaní za dievčatá, obyčajne v bielom, po domoch s husími krídlami a oprašovali a ometali všetko, čo im prišlo pod ruku (hrachoviste.sk).
Hrachovište is a village near Myjava. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1392 under the name Hrachowich (hrachoviste.sk). The notable structure is the Baroque Roman Catholic Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, dating from the 18th century (Source: Information Board). Above the village is the Plešivec mountain. Basket weaving thrived in the past (hrachoviste.sk). The village is located in the southeast of the Myjava Hills and in the Čachtice Mountains at the foot of the Small Carpathians in the Jablonka Valley. In 1715, there were 51 houses in the village. Currently, the village has 738 inhabitants (hrachoviste.sk). Due to floods, Hrachovište was sometimes called the Catholic Venice. In the 20th century, Pavol Straka, who lived to be 116 years old, resided in the village. He was not only the oldest citizen of Austria-Hungary but likely also of Europe. As for interesting traditions, on St. Lucia’s Day, boys used to dress up as girls, usually in white, with goose wings, and went from house to house dusting and sweeping everything in sight (hrachoviste.sk).
