Kríže

Krí­že sú sym­bo­lic­ké a nábo­žen­ské objek­ty, kto­ré majú význam v rôz­nych kul­tú­rach a nábo­žen­ských tra­dí­ciách. Ich tvar a význam môžu byť rôz­no­ro­dé, a pre­to majú uni­ver­zál­nu ale­bo oso­bit­nú hod­no­tu pre rôz­ne komu­ni­ty. V kres­ťan­stve je kríž jed­ným z naj­dô­le­ži­tej­ších sym­bo­lov. Je to sym­bol utr­pe­nia, zmŕt­vychvs­ta­nia a náde­je spo­je­ný s Ježi­šo­vým krí­žom. Krí­že sú roz­ší­re­né v kres­ťan­ských kos­to­loch, na cin­to­rí­noch, a môžu byť aj súčas­ťou nábo­žen­ských obra­zov ale­bo osob­ných pred­me­tov vie­ry. Kres­ťan­ské krí­že majú čas­to cha­rak­te­ris­tic­ký tvar s vodo­rov­ným rame­nom nad ver­ti­kál­nym, ale exis­tu­jú rôz­ne varian­ty toh­to sym­bo­lu. V iných nábo­žen­stvách a kul­tú­rach môžu exis­to­vať rôz­ne for­my krí­žov ale­bo iné podob­né sym­bo­ly s odliš­ným význa­mom. Naprí­klad v hin­du­iz­me a budd­hiz­me exis­tu­jú sym­bo­ly s podob­ným vzhľa­dom, ale s iným duchov­ným význa­mom. Aj v rám­ci kres­ťan­stva exis­tu­jú rôz­ne varian­ty krí­ža, ako naprí­klad kríž s rame­na­mi v tva­re pís­me­na ​“T” – tzv. kríž svä­té­ho Andre­ja, ale­bo kríž bez vodo­rov­né­ho rame­na – tzv. gréc­ky kríž.

Cros­ses are sym­bo­lic and reli­gi­ous objects that hold sig­ni­fi­can­ce in vari­ous cul­tu­res and reli­gi­ous tra­di­ti­ons. The­ir sha­pes and mea­nings can be diver­se, giving them a uni­ver­sal or par­ti­cu­lar value for dif­fe­rent com­mu­ni­ties. In Chris­tia­ni­ty, the cross is one of the most impor­tant sym­bols, repre­sen­ting suf­fe­ring, resur­rec­ti­on, and hope asso­cia­ted with the cru­ci­fi­xi­on of Jesus. Cros­ses are wides­pre­ad in Chris­tian chur­ches, ceme­te­ries, and can also be part of reli­gi­ous art­works or per­so­nal items of faith. Chris­tian cros­ses often have a dis­tinc­ti­ve sha­pe with a hori­zon­tal beam abo­ve a ver­ti­cal one, but the­re are vari­ous varia­ti­ons of this sym­bol. In other reli­gi­ons and cul­tu­res, dif­fe­rent forms of cros­ses or simi­lar sym­bols with dis­tinct spi­ri­tu­al mea­nings may exist. For ins­tan­ce, in Hin­du­ism and Budd­hism, the­re are sym­bols with a simi­lar appe­a­ran­ce but car­ry­ing dif­fe­rent spi­ri­tu­al sig­ni­fi­can­ce. Even wit­hin Chris­tia­ni­ty, the­re are vari­ous cross variants, such as the cross with arms sha­ped like the let­ter ​“T” (kno­wn as the St. Andre­w’s Cross) or the cross wit­hout a hori­zon­tal beam (kno­wn as the Gre­ek cross).
