Czechia is our western neighbor. We are connected to it by a common history. After all, it was only in 1993 that the federation of Czechoslovakia dissolved. The capital city is Prague. The so-called father of the country is Charles IV.

Česko tvoria Čechy, Morava a Sliezsko. Geologicky Český masív a Západné Karpaty. Prvé osídlenie siaha do staršej doby kamennej, zhruba 28000 rokov pred n. l. (Wikipedia.sk). The official name of the state is the Czech Republic, simply Czechia. Some of the public rejects the word Czechia. Karol IV. pripojil Braniborsko, Lužice a Sliezsko (Wikipedia.cs).

In the 1st century, Germanic tribes, such as the Quadi and Marcomanni, migrated to this territory. According to some historians, for example, Balázs Komoróczy, there was an attempt by the Romans to create the province of Marcomania on part of the territory during the rule of Marcus Aurelius, with its center likely in southern Moravia, possibly in Mušov (Wikipedia.cs). By the beginning of the 5th century, the population decreased, with a part likely leaving in 409 with the Vandals and Alans. In the first half of the 5th century, due to the departure of the Marcomanni to Noricum, the region was affected. There was probably an influence of the Hun invasion led by Attila on the Morava in the late 5th century. By the end of the 5th century, against the current of the Elbe, the Lombards and Thuringians reached Bohemia. In the second half of the 6th century, Slavic tribes arrived here (Wikipedia.cs). In the 7th century, a part of the territory became part of the Samo Empire. In the 9th century, it became part of Great Moravia. Unification occurred in the 10th century through the efforts of the Přemyslid dynasty (Wikipedia.sk). The Czech Kingdom, established in 1198, reached its peak of power under the rule of the last Přemyslids and Charles IV. During the reign of Přemysl Otakar II, it extended beyond the Alps to the Adriatic Sea. Wenceslaus II acquired territories through Poland to the Baltic Sea, while Wenceslaus III gained Hungarian territories. Charles IV annexed Brandenburg, Lusatia, and Silesia (Wikipedia.cs).

The victory at the Battle of White Mountain in 1620 contributed to the final elimination of the last remnants of independence. Pochádzajú z tadeto: plavec Marcel Géry, spisovateľ Milan Zelinka, spevák a muzikant Laco Lučenič, herec, dramaturg a režisér Otto Varečka (Wikipedia). Cíferské výšivky, kroje, šitie majú veľký ohlas a bohatú históriu (google.com). V roku 1892 bola založená výšivkárska dielňa, kde pod vedením Márie Hollóssyovej tvorili náročné výšivky, zástavy, cirkevné a korunovačné rúcha (google.com).

Cífer, along with its associated parts Pác and Jarná, is the largest municipality in the Trnava district. It has a population of approximately 4,000 residents (cifer.sk). The earliest mention of Cífer dates back to the times of Great Moravia in the 9th century (cifer.sk). Abundant finds of pottery from the Stone Age have been discovered, with a collection of vessels reconstructed from found fragments representing the most representative ceramic complex not only in Slovakia. A clay tag-like idol was also found here, the oldest sculpture of its kind in Central Europe (cifer.sk). Discoveries from the territory of Cífer and its immediate surroundings include perhaps the oldest Germanic grave on the territory of Slovakia, specifically from the beginning of the 1st century BC. Remains of a Roman settlement from the 4th century were found in Cífer – Pác (cifer.sk).

The Gidra stream flows through Cífer. Notable individuals from Cífer include swimmer Marcel Géry, writer Milan Zelinka, singer and musician Laco Lučenič, and actor, dramaturge, and director Otto Varečka (Wikipedia). Cífer’s embroideries, costumes, and sewing have a great impact and a rich history (google.com). In 1892, an embroidery workshop was established, where, under the guidance of Mária Hollóssy, intricate embroideries, banners, church items, and coronation robes were created (google.com)

The dominant feature of the village is the Church of St. Michael the Archangel. Its Gothic architecture attracts attention. Another significant monument is the castle, which in the past served as the residence of nobility. Local residents strive to maintain traditions through folklore events. The town is easily accessible from major transportation routes.
