In 2009, the event “Traditional Art Crafts” took place in Piešťany for the first time. In 2010, I actively participated in it as well. It was held from May 21st to 23rd. The event also took place in 2015.
Slnko nás fascinuje svojou krásou, silou a dôležitosťou. Bez slnečného svetla by nebola možná fotosyntéza, nebola by možná tvorba organickej hmoty.
The Sun is the source of life for Earth. Its influence on our world is undeniable, and its significance in our lives is immense. The Sun fascinates us with its beauty, power, and importance. It is a symbol of life, energy, and the infinite universe that surrounds us daily with its light and warmth. The Sun is a mass of plasma composed mainly of hydrogen and helium. Its surface temperature reaches an incredible approximately 5500°C, and its mass accounts for approximately 99.8% of the entire mass of the solar system.
One of the most important phenomena associated with the Sun is its radiation, which includes electromagnetic radiation in the form of visible light, ultraviolet radiation, and X‑rays. This solar energy flux is a fundamental factor that enables life on Earth. Without sunlight, photosynthesis would not be possible, and the formation of organic matter would not occur. Additionally, the Sun influences weather and climatic conditions on Earth.
For many cultures and civilizations, the Sun held a divine status and was the subject of worship and religious rituals. Its cyclical movements and seasonal changes served as the basis for various calendars and holidays. The study of the Sun is essential for our understanding of the universe and its impact on life on Earth. Modern astronomical technologies allow us to study its structure, properties, and dynamics with high precision.
We had the aquarium visit scheduled for 5:00PM. By then, we were already a bit tired, having seen enough of the aquarium since morning. When we spotted the aquarium from the bus, we thought we would explore it in 30 minutes. We were very wrong. First of all, shortly after entering, we realized it was a bit of a labyrinth. Hallways, rooms twisted around, inside there was a plethora of fish and beautiful fish. There were even some things that were rare for me. For example, Tanganyikan cichlids, several species of wild livebearers. Whoever takes care of these fish surely has a preference, especially for American cichlids. There were plenty of them, maybe around 200 species estimated. The stands with fish near the entrance were purposefully built, probably homemade. I think we all felt very comfortable there, and the hospitality of the hosts definitely helped, as they diligently served us beer, cola, and other drinks in two-deciliter containers with a smile on their faces. Outside, the owner had tanks full of koi and other cold-water fish in the yard. Besides that, I saw some birds and rodents there. From the shop, I had the feeling that it also functions partially as a breeding ground because there were many young fish in the tanks, and adult fish of the same species were in other tanks. I didn’t see completely young fish and fry tanks. I assume they were further in the yard or somewhere nearby. Essentially, this is how I imagine having a shop. Having a breeding ground and a shop in one place is an idea that I have also considered. After leaving the shop, we boarded the bus and headed back home. I will definitely remember this trip to Duisburg-Cyprus.
Cestovali sme do Nemecka z Banskej Bystrice, v Drážďanoch sme bývali v stredne veľkom, príjemnom ubytovaní blízko samotného priestoru výstavy. Strávil sme tam necelé tri dni, počas ktorých sme sa stretli s Krysztofom Kujawom, Boguslawom Micinskim, Denisom Barbé, Eddym Vanvoordenom, Vladimírom Feltom, Vladimírom Protivom, Karlom Krčekom ako aj s domácim Gernotom Kadenom a Matthiasom Trauzettelom. Posudzovali sa Guppy páry.
Many fish exhibitions have taken place in Dresden. In 2011, along with Marián Stieranko, I also attended one exhibition. Its name was the International Guppy – Molly – Xipho Exhibition, open to the public on May 21st – 22nd. We traveled to Germany from Banska Bystrica, and in Dresden, we stayed in a moderately sized, pleasant accommodation close to the exhibition venue itself. We spent just under three days there, during which we met Krysztof Kujaw, Boguslaw Micinski, Denis Barbé, Eddy Vanvoorden, Vladimír Felt, Vladimír Protiva, Karl Krček, as well as locals Gernot Kaden and Matthias Trauzettel. Guppy pairs were judged.

Turbatrix aceti – háďatko octové biologicky patrí medzi hlístice a medzi Nematoda. Mikry nesmú byť zatvorené, do uzáverov odporúčam vyvŕtať malé otvory.
Časom sa tekutý obsah vyčíri a my môžeme pozorovať oblaky mikier vznášajúcich sa vo fľaši. Mikry sú dobre viditeľné, keď do fľaše pozeráme proti svetlu.
Turbatrix aceti, also known as vinegar eels, biologically belongs to the group of roundworms and to the Nematoda phylum. At room temperature, they live for an average of 55 days, while at low temperatures, they can survive up to 10 months. Under favorable conditions, the vinegar eel culture can multiply twentyfold in 8 – 10 days (Petr Novák). They reproduce in relatively large quantities, although their size makes them suitable for feeding fry and small fish, such as bettas and neon tetras. We can culture them, for example, in PET bottles, where vinegar is mixed with water in a 1:1 ratio. Apple cider vinegar or fermented vinegar can also be used. We add a small amount of apple, peach, or other fruit to the vinegar. Ideally, this fruit should be blended into a pulp using a blender. The substrate should not be too much, or else the bottle will start to ferment. The culture should not be sealed tightly; I recommend drilling small holes in the caps.
Over time, the liquid content will become clear, and we can observe clouds of vinegar eels floating in the bottle. The vinegar eels are well visible when we look into the bottle against the light or shine a flashlight on them. Vinegar eels are very fine feed, even finer than “regular” microworms. The finest available sieves for rotifers, copepods, etc., are not suitable for successful straining; a mesh size of 5 μm is required.
Feeding vinegar eels is a challenge. I do it by pouring them into a bottle with a neck that can be sealed from the inside, for example, with cotton, cloth, or filter material. Ordinary wine bottles with a more or less straight, narrow neck are ideal for vinegar eels. I pour the vinegar eels into this bottle up to the narrowed point, seal it, and then pour in fresh cold water. Vinegar eels are anti-gravitational and tend to move towards cleaner water. Within 24 hours, the majority of these small organisms will be strained into the clean water. I extract them from this using a syringe or simply pour them out and feed them to fish. The substrate that was under the seal is then poured back into the PET bottle with the culture. The culture content can last for a very long time, up to 2 – 3 years. I occasionally replace the PET bottle. A similar but faster method is if we have a so-called U‑tube.
