Enneacanthus chaetodon (Baird, 1855) dosahuje 10 cm, je rozšírený v Severnej Amerike, od New Jersey až po centrálnu Floridu, smerom na západ ku rieke Flint v štáte Georgia (Fish Base). Je veľmi pokojná a mierumilovná (rybicky.net). Je to veľmi produktívna ryba. Pri dobrom kŕmení v jarných mesiacoch je schopná sa trieť aj každý týždeň. Z jedného trenia býva 300 – 1500 ikier (Fořt). Sú známe aj ako “blackbanded sunfish” alebo “banded sunfish”, patrí do čeľade Centrarchidae. Vyznačuje sa pomerne výrazným sfarbením v kombinácii s čiernymi pruhmi. V akváriu potrebujú úkryty, patria medzi mierne náročné ryby, ktoré si vyžadujú stabilné parametre vody. Sú aktívni plavci, preto im treba poskytnúť dostatok priestoru.
