Danubiana – múzeum moderného umenia

Hits: 1952

9. septembra 2000 bolo otvorené jedno z najmladších európskych múzeí moderného umenia – Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum. Na cípe poloostrova v strede rieky Dunaj (danubiana.sk). Tento poloostrov vbieha do vodnej nádrže Gabčíkovo (danubiana.sk). Poloha, umiestnenie, architektúra evokujú rímsku galéru uviaznutú na plytčine. Danubiana v interiéri poskytuje priestor pre rozličné výstavné aktivity. Okolitý park na rozlohe 0.8 km2 poskytuje priestor sochárskym dielam. Polostrov umenia ponúka jedinečnú symbiózu výtvarných diel, modernej architektúry a výnimočnej okolitej prírody.

On September 9, 2000, one of the youngest European museums of modern art, the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, was opened. Situated on the tip of a peninsula in the middle of the Danube River (danubiana.sk), this peninsula extends into the Gabčíkovo water reservoir (danubiana.sk). The location, placement, and architecture evoke a Roman galley stranded on a sandbar. Inside, Danubiana provides space for various exhibition activities. The surrounding park, covering an area of 0.8 km², accommodates sculptural works. The art peninsula offers a unique symbiosis of visual art, modern architecture, and exceptional natural surroundings. Over the decade of its existence, Danubiana has been visited by more than 250,000 visitors (danubiana.sk). The founder is the Dutch entrepreneur and art collector Gerard H. Meulensteen. Since 2012, the museum has changed its status and has become a non-profit public benefit museum institution with the majority participation of the state (danubiana.sk).

Foto Slovakia 2011 prebehla 21.

Foto Slovakia 2011 took place on October 21 – 22, 2011, in the same venue as before. I was looking forward to this event and successfully attended it. I liked the presentations; it seemed to me that their lineup was a bit more regional. The products offered also appeared to be more modest. Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to the next edition. Martin Vrabko was present again, and I enjoyed the contributions of Aleš Fremut, Strobist Karol Srnec, and Petr Praženka, as well as the presentation on Nepal by Zuzana Minarovičová.

Foto Slovakia 2010 sa uskutočnila v Dome kultúry Ružinov v Bratislave 22. – 23.10.2010.

Foto Slovakia 2010 took place at the Ružinov House of Culture in Bratislava on October 22 – 23, 2010. The program was diverse, featuring booths with photography-related themes, as well as lectures and presentations. I personally attended several of them. I vividly remember and fondly recall Martin Vrabko, who spoke to us about lighting possibilities and photographing models. A lecture on copyright in relation to photographs was also informative for me. Some presentations focused more on the craft of photography, while others were more travel-oriented and exploratory. In the center of the main hall, there was a space for photographing models, who changed periodically. The attendance was very high, and at times, the spaces at the Ružinov House of Culture seemed small for such an event.

Sochy

Hits: 6981

Sochárstvo má hlboké historické korene, siaha do antiky. Gréci a Rimania tvorili dokonalé sochy s ľudským výrazom.

Statues are artistic creations that can be carved from various materials. They evoke our emotions through monumental memorials as well as abstract sculptures. Statues often enrich urban spaces, creating what can be described as partial art galleries. Moreover, they integrate with people, serving as a motivation for gatherings. Sculpture has deep historical roots that trace back to antiquity. The Greeks and Romans crafted flawless statues with human expressions. During the Renaissance, sculpture experienced a renaissance itself, with masters like Michelangelo and Bernini creating pinnacle works in the history of humanity.

The modern era has brought radical changes to sculpture. A world of abstract forms has emerged, with sculptors discovering new ways and expressions for their thoughts and emotions. Materials such as marble and bronze are still utilized, but unconventional materials like recycled metal, wood, and glass are also embraced. Statues represent emotions, culture, and ideas. They are more than just static forms; they are conduits of artistic expression that bridge the historical and contemporary, creating a timeless language that speaks to the human experience.
