Artemia salina - žiabronôžka soľná, dostupné živé krmivo

Hits: 33189

Vlastne ide o to, aby celý obsah cirkuloval čo najviac, aby žiadne vajíčka nezostali stáť.

Artemia salina – saltwater brine shrimp belongs to Entomostraca. Brine shrimp, predominantly used in aquaristics, live in the sea. They are relatively small, up to 15 mm [1], much smaller than their freshwater relatives. You can get freshwater brine shrimp first through frozen cubes in stores. Artemia is used in various sizes, from fine to coarse. Most aquarists prefer fine Artemia. You can get them in pet stores, at fairs, and other aquarium events. Brine shrimp are sold from various locations – Russia, Canada, USA, China. Their hatchability is a matter of quality. 95% hatchability of eggs is an excellent parameter. The price also depends on it. Brine shrimp is a nutritious feed from which fry grow fastest, especially in height and width. When fish are growing, I do not recommend feeding only brine shrimp.

Artemia can be easily hatched, but it depends on the method of each batch ;-). Unfortunately, the requirements for individual „types“ and packaging of Artemia vary. I have often witnessed dissatisfaction with the hatchability among my acquaintances, while their friends often have „the same“ Artemia working great. Bought Artemia are actually Artemia eggs. We pour the eggs into water, for example, into a bottle, to which we add 3-4 teaspoons of salt (25 – 30 g per liter) for 1.5 liters of water, simulating seawater. It is necessary to aerate strongly. Basically, the whole content should circulate as much as possible so that no eggs remain standing. We maintain room temperature or slightly higher. They hatch faster at higher temperatures. After about 24 hours, a large part is already hatched. I myself, like most aquarists I know, let Artemia hatch for 2 days – it’s a bit larger then. Artemia hatches in 1.5 days at 25 °C. Among aquarists, it is rumored that brine shrimp can be one-day-old or two-day-old, depending on the hatching time and, of course, the „type.“ They only last a short time in freshwater – about 8 hours.

For higher energy value and consequently easier and more effective arrival of small Artemia into the world, decapsulation is used. It removes the protective coating of the brine shrimp egg. When we want to feed brine shrimp, we face the question of how to get them into the aquarium without transferring them there without salt. Since they are very small creatures, miller’s silk would help, if you don’t have it, you can use cotton fabric. I strain Artemia through monofilament. I use decapsulated Artemia successfully as dry feed.

Z druhej fľaše odrežeme spodnú časť do výšky asi 10 cm. Do oboch dier prevlečieme hadičky.

Do fľaše nalejeme 1 l vlažnej vody (ja som si urobil na fľaši rysku, aby som nemusel stále odmeriavať vodu) a nasypeme kopcovitú čajovú lyžičku kuchynskej soli.

The small crustacean, Artemia salina, is a favorite live (as well as frozen) food for many species of aquarium fish. Many breeders of African cichlids use freshly hatched Artemia nauplii to feed young fish after they have dispersed or left the mother’s mouth. Since only Artemia eggs are available, it is necessary to provide suitable conditions for as many nauplii as possible to hatch. For this purpose, so-called Artemia hatcheries are used. There are many different designs, from which I have tried to select the best features – high hatching rate, low maintenance, and cost. For the production of the hatchery itself, I used a classic 1.5 liter PET bottle. I used 2 identical bottles. Of course, any size bottle can be used. However, I recommend looking for a bottle with the upper third towards the neck somehow serrated, not smooth. This is important when retrieving hatched Artemia from the bottle, as when pulling empty egg shells or un-hatched eggs, they catch on the serrations of the bottle wall and do not mix with the hatched nauplii. Cut the bottom off one bottle right at the bottom. This bottle will serve as the actual hatchery.

Cut the bottom part of the second bottle to a height of about 10 cm. This part will serve as the base into which the hatchery will be inserted upside down. Cut off the top third of the bottle with the neck from this second bottle to create a funnel. This part will serve as a cover for the hatchery to prevent splashing of the saltwater. The individual parts are shown in the picture below. Drill two holes in the funnel, the diameter of which is adapted to a classic plastic hose used, for example, for air distribution in aquariums. Drill the holes slightly smaller so that the hoses only just fit through them. Then, thread the hoses through both holes. One will serve for air supply. It is possible to leave the hose without any termination, but in my experience, it is better to use the smallest air stone possible. I used one as used in ordinary foam filters powered by air. The advantage of using an air stone is that it prevents eggs and Artemia from entering this hose when the aeration is turned off (when siphoning off hatched Artemia). Place the stone close to the funnel.

Thread the same hose through the second hole, the end of which will be close to the funnel. This hose will be used to siphon off hatched Artemia nauplii. The bottle with the funnel is ready for attachment to the bottle. Screw the neck of the funnel onto it. Take the cut-off bottom of the bottle and make two holes close to the bottom so that the hoses secured in the funnel can comfortably pass through them. Turn the bottle upside down and place it into the cut-off bottom of the bottle, which serves as the base of the hatchery. Also, thread the hoses through the holes in this part from the inside out. Small valves can be attached to the hoses. However, I chose to close the hoses with an ordinary laundry clip. Connect one hose, on which there is an air stone, to the air compressor.

Close the second hose with a valve or, as I did, fold it over and secure it with a laundry clip. The hatchery is now ready for pouring the solution and hatching. To prevent water from leaking through the hoses, simply catch them with a wire hook on the edge of the hatchery. Pour 1 liter of lukewarm water into the bottle (I made a mark on the bottle so that I didn’t have to measure the water every time) and add a heaping teaspoon of table salt. I use sea salt, which is commonly available in grocery stores. Start aeration to actively mix the water, and when the salt is dissolved, add the Artemia eggs. The amount depends on the number of fish being fed, and it should be noted that the eggs are very small, so, for example, half a teaspoon of eggs will yield a significant amount of Artemia nauplii.

Ak sme scedili dostatočné množstvo artémií, odsatú vodu vylejeme späť do liahne, vyfúkneme vodu z hadičky, ktorou sme cedili artémie, zaistíme ventilom (štipcom), pustíme vzduchovanie a pri ďalšom kŕmení postup opakujeme.

Hatching

No further adjustments to conditions are necessary for hatching, although temperatures above 25 °C are suitable. I have successfully hatched Artemia even at lower temperatures. However, hatching success depends mainly on the quality of the eggs. With strong aeration, the first Artemia nauplii will start hatching after about 20 hours, so we can start feeding the Artemia the next day. We stop aeration (here it is advisable to have a check valve on the tubing to prevent backflow of water from the bottle to the compressor, or simply disconnect the tubing from the compressor and hang it on the edge of the hatchery with a hook) and wait for about 10 minutes until the hatched Artemia sink down and the empty eggshells float to the surface or get caught on the bottle wall, precisely on the aforementioned notches.

Then, we release the clip (the valve) on the second tubing and filter a portion of the hatchery contents through a very fine cloth into an empty cup. On the cloth, we’ll see a pink-orange mass, which are hatched Artemia. After the first filtering, empty eggshells usually also end up on the cloth. We try to suck up as few eggs as possible, as they could cause digestion problems or even death for the juveniles after consumption. However, I have never observed such problems, and the juveniles usually spit out the empty eggshells. Once we have suctioned a sufficient amount of Artemia, we pour the suctioned water back into the hatchery, blow out the water from the filtering tubing, secure it with a valve (a clip), start aeration, and repeat the process for the next feeding. This way, Artemia can be obtained from one hatching for about 3 days, depending on the feeding frequency. It doesn’t make sense to feed older Artemia, as freshly hatched Artemia are best for young fish. The older the Artemia, the lower their nutritional value. After sieving the last batch of Artemia, we rinse the bottle with clean water and can prepare a fresh solution. In theory, the original solution could be reused, but it is usually already partially cloudy. Considering the cost of salt, it’s not really worth saving, and it’s better to make a fresh solution. Artemia hatch better. Some breeders even report that fresh water with a higher chlorine content improves the hatching rate of the eggs. Final practical advice: If we want to have a regular supply of fresh Artemia, it is good to make several such hatcheries and fill them every 2 days, for example.

Hatching

Neolamprologus leleupi is an endemic species of Lake Tanganyika. They are also known as Leleupi Cichlids. They have characteristic coloring, ranging from light yellow to intense orange, with narrow heads and long bodies, allowing them to maneuver quickly among the rocky reefs of their natural environment. In the wild, they inhabit rocky areas of Lake Tanganyika. They are territorial and aggressive fish, defending their territories from other individuals of their species. It is recommended to keep them only with species capable of defending themselves. In the wild, pairs are often found in rock crevices or under large stones. They are relatively hardy and can adapt to various water conditions, being omnivorous fish. Individuals of this species are able to stretch their mouths incredibly wide – perhaps up to 160°. They look truly intimidating then, capable of intimidating even much larger opponents. Intraspecies fights often occur, sometimes resulting in the death of the weaker individual. They are hostile to each other in adulthood. For breeding, they require peace and a firm substrate. There are various forms, such as lemon-yellow to dark brown: bulu, kapampa, karilani, kakese, kiku, lumbye, maswa, milima, mtoto, orange, tembwe, uvira.

Neolamprologus leleupi stands out with its slender and streamlined body, which allows for swift movements, especially among rocks and hiding places. This makes them ideal for maneuvering in tight spaces. They can exhibit slight color variations depending on their place of origin or aquarium conditions. Known for their territorial behavior, these fish establish and defend their territories, with aggression increasing particularly during mating and spawning periods. They require ample space and plenty of hiding spots to feel secure.

Leleupi prefer alkaline water with a pH between 7.5 and 9.0, and the water temperature should range between 24 °C and 27 °C. High-quality filtration is crucial, as these fish are sensitive to changes in water chemistry. In their natural habitat, they feed on various types of small animals such as tiny crustaceans, mollusks, and insects. These fish prefer spawning in enclosed spaces, such as rock crevices or caves. The female lays eggs on solid surfaces, and she then cares for them. Both parents guard their offspring. Once hatched, the fry begin feeding on small plankton and other fine foods.

Kuna aina mbalimbali, kama vile manjano hadi kahawia kali: bulu, kapampa, karilani, kakese, kiku, lumbye, maswa, milima, mtoto, orange, tembwe, uvira.

Medzi synonymá tohto druhu : Ctenochromis horii, Haplochromis fasciata tanganaicae, Haplochromis horei, Haplochromis horii, Haplochromis moorei, Chromis horei, Tilapia fasciata tanganaicae, Tilapia horei, Tilapia horii, a Tilapia rubropunctata (FishBase).

Ctenochromis horei is a species native to Lake Tanganyika, growing up to 20 cm in length. In addition to Lake Tanganyika, it is also found in the river basins of Lukuga, Ruzizi, and Nua (FishBase). It is often kept in aquariums alongside Tropheus species. The synonyms for this species include Ctenochromis horii, Haplochromis fasciata tanganaicae, Haplochromis horei, Haplochromis horii, Haplochromis moorei, Chromis horei, Tilapia fasciata tanganaicae, Tilapia horei, Tilapia horii, and Tilapia rubropunctata (FishBase).

This species, belonging to the family Cichlidae, inhabits shallow coastal waters of the African lakes Tanganyika and Victoria, where the substrate consists of sandy to rocky bottoms. These habitats feature alkaline pH levels and medium-hard water. The fish usually inhabit depths ranging from 1 to 20 meters, where they feed on small invertebrates and algae. Males are typically larger and more brightly colored than females, with body colors ranging from silver to golden, often adorned with black stripes along the body. During the breeding season, males can become even more colorful, displaying more intense shades of blue, green, or red on their fins. Ctenochromis horei is a territorial species and can exhibit aggression, especially during the breeding season. Males establish territories where they attract females to lay eggs. After fertilization, the female carries the fertilized eggs in her mouth, protecting them until they hatch.

In an aquarium setting, this species requires a tank of at least 200 liters, with a sandy substrate and ample hiding places made from rocks or wood. The water temperature should be maintained between 24-28 °C, with a pH level of 7.5 to 8.5 and medium hardness. The diet should be varied, including live or frozen foods such as shrimp, bloodworms, and algae. It is crucial to maintain water quality through regular water changes and filtration, as this species is sensitive to water conditions. Due to their territorial nature, careful selection of tank mates is important to prevent conflicts in the aquarium.

Copadichromis borleyi

Hits: 10721

Malawijský druh. Synonymá: Cyrtocara borleyi, Haplochromis borleyi. medzi Utaka druhy. Žijú vo voľnej vode vo veľkých skupinách, blízko skalných stien, piesčitého dna, v malých až stredných hĺbkach (5 – 20 m) (akvarista.cz). V rôznych oblastiach jazera: Chemwezi Rocks, Chimwalani Reef, Mara Point, Pombo Rocks, Kadango, Chilucha, Chinyamwezi, Chinyankwazi, Crocodile Rocks, Fort Maguire, Kande Island, Linganjala Reef, Lundu, Maison Reef, Makonde, Mara Rocks, Mbenji Island, Mdoka, Mpanga, Mpandikucha, Msisis, Mumbo Island, Namalenje, Nkhungu Reef, Otter Island, Taiwan Reef, Tumbi Point, Undu Point, Zimbawe Rocks (cichlidenstube.de).

Celkom registrujem tieto formy: Cobue, Gold Fin, Kadango, Kadango Red Fin, Kirondo, Namalenji, Chemwezi Rocks, Chimwalani Reef, Mara Point, Pombo Rocks, Chilucha, Chinyamwezi, Chinyankwazi, Crocodile Rocks, Fort Maguire, Kande Island, Linganjala Reef, Lundu, Maison Reef, Makonde, Mara Rocks, Mbenji Island, Mdoka, Mpanga, Mpandikucha, Msisis, Mumbo Island, Namalenje, Nkhungu Reef, Otter Island, Taiwan Reef, Tumbi Point, Undu Point, Zimbawe Rocks, Ntekete, Yellow Fin.

A species. Synonyms: Cyrtocara borleyi, Haplochromis borleyi. Belongs to the Utaka species. They live in open water in large groups, near rocky walls, sandy bottoms, at small to medium depths (5 – 20 m) (akvarista.cz). In various areas of the lake: Chemwezi Rocks, Chimwalani Reef, Mara Point, Pombo Rocks, Kadango, Chilucha, Chinyamwezi, Chinyankwazi, Crocodile Rocks, Fort Maguire, Kande Island, Linganjala Reef, Lundu, Maison Reef, Makonde, Mara Rocks, Mbenji Island, Mdoka, Mpanga, Mpandikucha, Msisis, Mumbo Island, Namalenje, Nkhungu Reef, Otter Island, Taiwan Reef, Tumbi Point, Undu Point, Zimbabwe Rocks (cichlidenstube.de). They readily crossbreed with Copadichromis azureus (akvarista.cz).

Those that I kept behaved relatively collectively. After two months from acquisition, they began to behave more aggressively towards each other. I bought young fish, estimated to be 8 to 12 months old. The males began to color. They could gorge themselves incredibly on live cyclops, daphnia, and similar food. The male is more colorful. Both genders can grow up to 15 cm in our care. In their appetite, they are similar to Nimbochromis venustus. They are not as reasonable in consumption as Pseudotropheus and certainly not as Melanochromis. They stuff themselves much more and to bursting, then other species do not get so much. Once I witnessed how a dominant male was so fat that he had breathing problems. Perhaps he also had balance problems – he was intensely trying to swim. I lost one individual in a quite curious way. While feeding, as always, the borleyi would uncompromisingly push their way to the food. But Cyphotilapia gibberosa was also hungry and, above all, stronger. Its mouth is truly grandiose and since it did not care about the consequences, it punctured the face of the gentle female Copadichromis. On one side, she was left with a visible scar, on the other an even larger one, and she also lost an eye, which was held only by a few millimeters. The punctuation of the fight for food was completed by Pseudotropheus socolofi albino, who swam to the affected fish, opened his papilla, aimed, and with a strong tug, devoured the eye with pleasure. As if nothing else was the purpose of his existence, just to wait for such an opportunity. After this shameless act, he immediately but calmly swam away. The borleyi was left without an eye. I was curious how she would react to the fate’s disfavor, and my instinct did not deceive me. The fish was disoriented, but initially showed no clear signs of pain or lethargy. Although she did not accept food, she swam elegantly but chaotically throughout the aquarium, avoiding only places where food was concentrated. Even three hours after the incident, I did not observe any signs of hiding, unhealthiness, or impending demise. However, the night followed, and as I expected, it was over for her in the morning. Copadichromis borleyi kadango red fin is a form of the species Copadichromis borleyi. Red fin means red fins. They are more orange or yellow. I register these forms: Cobue, Gold Fin, Kadango, Kadango Red Fin, Kirondo, Namalenji, Chemwezi Rocks, Chimwalani Reef, Mara Point, Pombo Rocks, Chilucha, Chinyamwezi, Chinyankwazi, Crocodile Rocks, Fort Maguire, Kande Island, Linganjala Reef, Lundu, Maison Reef, Makonde, Mara Rocks, Mbenji Island, Mdoka, Mpanga, Mpandikucha, Msisis, Mumbo Island, Namalenje, Nkhungu Reef, Otter Island, Taiwan Reef, Tumbi Point, Undu Point, Zimbabwe Rocks, Ntekete, Yellow Fin.

Eine Malawispezies. Synonyme: Cyrtocara borleyi, Haplochromis borleyi. In verschiedenen Gebieten des Sees: Chemwezi Rocks, Chimwalani Reef, Mara Point, Pombo Rocks, Kadango, Chilucha, Chinyamwezi, Chinyankwazi, Crocodile Rocks, Fort Maguire, Kande Island, Linganjala Reef, Lundu, Maison Reef, Makonde, Mara Rocks, Mbenji Island, Mdoka, Mpanga, Mpandikucha, Msisis, Mumbo Island, Namalenje, Nkhungu Reef, Otter Island, Taiwan Reef, Tumbi Point, Undu Point, Zimbabwe Rocks (cichlidenstube.de).

Red fin bedeutet rote Flossen. Sie sind eher orange oder gelb. Ich registriere diese Formen: Cobue, Gold Fin, Kadango, Kadango Red Fin, Kirondo, Namalenji, Chemwezi Rocks, Chimwalani Reef, Mara Point, Pombo Rocks, Chilucha, Chinyamwezi, Chinyankwazi, Crocodile Rocks, Fort Maguire, Kande Island, Linganjala Reef, Lundu, Maison Reef, Makonde, Mara Rocks, Mbenji Island, Mdoka, Mpanga, Mpandikucha, Msisis, Mumbo Island, Namalenje, Nkhungu Reef, Otter Island, Taiwan Reef, Tumbi Point, Undu Point, Zimbabwe Rocks, Ntekete, Yellow Fin.

Spishi ya Malawi. Visawe: Cyrtocara borleyi, Haplochromis borleyi. Katika maeneo mbalimbali ya ziwa: Chemwezi Rocks, Chimwalani Reef, Mara Point, Pombo Rocks, Kadango, Chilucha, Chinyamwezi, Chinyankwazi, Crocodile Rocks, Fort Maguire, Kande Island, Linganjala Reef, Lundu, Maison Reef, Makonde, Mara Rocks, Mbenji Island, Mdoka, Mpanga, Mpandikucha, Msisis, Mumbo Island, Namalenje, Nkhungu Reef, Otter Island, Taiwan Reef, Tumbi Point, Undu Point, Zimbabwe Rocks (cichlidenstube.de).

Ninarekodi aina hizi: Cobue, Gold Fin, Kadango, Kadango Red Fin, Kirondo, Namalenji, Chemwezi Rocks, Chimwalani Reef, Mara Point, Pombo Rocks, Chilucha, Chinyamwezi, Chinyankwazi, Crocodile Rocks, Fort Maguire, Kande Island, Linganjala Reef, Lundu, Maison Reef, Makonde, Mara Rocks, Mbenji Island, Mdoka, Mpanga, Mpandikucha, Msisis, Mumbo Island, Namalenje, Nkhungu Reef, Otter Island, Taiwan Reef, Tumbi Point, Undu Point, Zimbawe Rocks, Ntekete, Yellow Fin.

V akváriu by malo byť piesočnaté dno a .

Aulonocara maleri, also known as the „Maleri Peacock“ or „Sunshine Peacock,“ is a species of cichlid native to Lake Malawi in Africa. It is characterized by its vibrant coloration, peaceful temperament, and relative ease of care. This species inhabits sandy and rocky biotopes in shallow waters with a sandy bottom, where it feeds on small invertebrates and zooplankton, as well as insect larvae, which it finds by sifting through the sediment using its sensitive head sensors. Males are vividly colored, reaching a length of approximately 12–15 cm and are distinguished by their bright yellow to golden body color, which may be complemented by blue spots or iridescent highlights on the fins and head. Females are smaller, growing up to 10 cm, and display much more subdued coloring, predominantly silvery-gray.

Aulonocara maleri is a relatively peaceful species, and suitable tankmates include other species of Aulonocara or less aggressive species from the genera Labidochromis and Copadichromis. The minimum tank size for these cichlids is 200 liters, with a pH range of 7.8 to 8.6, water hardness of 10–15 dGH, and a temperature between 24–28 °C. The aquarium should have a sandy substrate and rocks. This species is omnivorous with a preference for animal-based foods. In aquarium conditions, they breed relatively easily. Males are territorial, and during the breeding season, their coloration becomes even more intense. During reproduction, males select a territory where they attract females. The females lay eggs in a small pit dug in the sand, which are then immediately fertilized by the male. The female then takes care of the fertilized eggs by carrying them in her mouth (a process known as mouthbrooding) for 2–3 weeks until the fry hatch.
