V Ban­skej Štiav­ni­ci sa kaž­do­roč­ne kona­jú osla­vy mes­ta – tzv. Sala­man­dro­vé dni. V roku 2009 som bol prí­tom­ný počas posled­né­ho dňa také­ho­to podu­ja­tia. Bol som sved­kom okrem iné­ho divad­la pre deti, čoho­si ako jar­mo­ku a via­ce­rých vystú­pe­ní hudob­ní­kov. Na foto­gra­fiách je ľudo­vá hud­ba z maďar­ské­ho Sop­ro­nu, s kto­rým ma mes­to Ban­ská Štiav­ni­ca dlho­roč­nú spo­lu­prá­cu. Pote­ši­li ma svo­jou vese­los­ťou. Na jar­mo­ku bola aj časť, kde sa pre­zen­to­va­la Sop­ron. Neskôr ma upú­ta­la čes­ká sku­pi­na Ter­ne Čhave.

Sala­man­der bol pôvod­ne sláv­nost­ný sprie­vod poslu­chá­čov ban­skoš­tiav­nic­kej aka­dé­mie. Konal sa vždy po zotme­ní, vo svet­le baníc­kych kaha­nov a fakieľ. Po roku 1919, kedy sa odsťa­ho­va­la Vyso­ká ško­la baníc­ka a les­níc­ka do Šop­ro­nu, boha­tý spo­lo­čen­ský život pre­stal. K obno­ve­niu doš­lo po roku 1935. Po 2. sve­to­vej voj­ne sa tra­dí­cia sala­man­dro­vých sprie­vo­dov obno­vi­la 10.9.1949. Do roku 1993 sa však usku­toč­nil iba 8 krát. Od roku 1993 sa koná kaž­do­roč­ne v dru­hý sep­tem­bro­vý týž­deň. Názov je odvo­de­ný pod pohy­bu sala­man­dry škvr­ni­tej. Napo­dob­ňu­júc jej pohyb pre­chá­dza sprie­vod z jed­nej stra­ny uli­ce na dru­hú, čo pri osvet­ľo­va­ní dobo­vý­mi svie­tid­la­mi vytvá­ra pôso­bi­vé divad­lo. V sprie­vo­de sa pohy­bu­je 580 postáv, kto­ré zná­zor­ňu­jú hlav­ne prá­cu a život oby­va­te­ľov mes­ta. Sprie­vod sa pohy­bu­je poma­ly a dôs­toj­ne, vlní sa z jed­nej stra­ny uli­ce na dru­hú (ban​skas​tiav​ni​ca​.sk).

In Ban­ská Štiav­ni­ca, the annu­al celeb­ra­ti­on of the city, kno­wn as Sala­man­der Days, takes pla­ce. In 2009, I was pre­sent during the last day of this event. I wit­nes­sed vari­ous acti­vi­ties, inc­lu­ding a chil­dre­n’s the­a­ter, a fair-​like event, and seve­ral musi­cal per­for­man­ces. The pho­tos fea­tu­re folk music from the Hun­ga­rian town of Sop­ron, with which Ban­ská Štiav­ni­ca has a long­stan­ding par­tners­hip. They deligh­ted me with the­ir che­er­ful­ness. The­re was also a part of the fair whe­re Sop­ron was pre­sen­ted. Later, the Czech group Ter­ne Čha­ve caught my attention.

Ori­gi­nal­ly, the Sala­man­der was a fes­ti­ve pro­ces­si­on of stu­dents from the Ban­ská Štiav­ni­ca Aca­de­my. It alwa­ys took pla­ce after dusk, illu­mi­na­ted by mine­r’s lamps and tor­ches. After 1919, when the Mining and Fores­try Uni­ver­si­ty moved to Sop­ron, the rich social life cea­sed. It was revi­ved after 1935. After World War II, the tra­di­ti­on of Sala­man­der pro­ces­si­ons was res­to­red on Sep­tem­ber 10, 1949. Howe­ver, until 1993, it only occur­red eight times. Sin­ce 1993, it has been held annu­al­ly in the second week of Sep­tem­ber. The name is deri­ved from the move­ment of the spot­ted sala­man­der. Mimic­king its move­ment, the pro­ces­si­on cros­ses the stre­et, cre­a­ting a cap­ti­va­ting the­a­ter with peri­od ligh­ting. The para­de inc­lu­des 580 figu­res, main­ly depic­ting the work and life of the city­’s inha­bi­tants. The pro­ces­si­on moves slo­wly and gra­ce­ful­ly, undu­la­ting from one side of the stre­et to the other (ban​skas​tiav​ni​ca​.sk).
