Spiš­ská obec Bystra­ny leží medzi Spiš­ským Hru­šo­vom a Spiš­ský­mi Vlach­mi, tak­mer na pol ces­te medzi Spiš­skou Novou Vsou a Krompachmi.

Leží v nad­mor­skej výš­ke 408 met­rov nad morom (Wiki­pe­dia), v juž­nej čas­ti Hor­nád­skej kot­li­ny pri poto­ku Kobu­lia­ny (e‑obce.sk). Na plo­che 7.82 km2 tu žije 3578 oby­va­te­ľov (Wiki­pe­dia). Prvá písom­ná zmien­ka o obci je z roku 1268. Obec je nemec­ké­ho pôvo­du, nazý­va­la sa Eulen­bach, čo zna­me­ná soví potok. Neskôr Vlen­bach, Veľ­bach (obec​by​stra​ny​.sk), Ewlen­bach, Wel­ba­chy, Veľ­ba­chy (Wiki­pe­dia). Bystra­ny pat­ri­li medzi 24 krá­ľov­ských spisš­kých miest. V 16. sto­ro­čí tu žilo 21 oby­va­te­ľov. V roku 1787350 (e‑obce.sk).


Spiš­ská vil­la­ge Bystra­ny is situ­ated bet­we­en Spiš­ské Hru­šov and Spiš­ské Vla­chy, almost hal­fway bet­we­en Spiš­ská Nová Ves and Krompachy.

It is loca­ted at an ele­va­ti­on of 408 meters abo­ve sea level (Wiki­pe­dia), in the sout­hern part of the Hor­nád Basin near the Kobu­lia­ny stre­am (e‑obce.sk). With an area of 7.82 km², the vil­la­ge is home to 3,578 inha­bi­tants (Wiki­pe­dia). The first writ­ten men­ti­on of the vil­la­ge dates back to 1268. The vil­la­ge has Ger­man ori­gins and was cal­led Eulen­bach, mea­ning owl cre­ek. Later it was kno­wn as Vlen­bach, Veľ­bach (obec​by​stra​ny​.sk), Ewlen­bach, Wel­ba­chy, Veľ­ba­chy (Wiki­pe­dia). Bystra­ny belo­n­ged to the 24 roy­al Spiš towns. In the 16th cen­tu­ry, the­re were 21 inha­bi­tants, and by 1787, the popu­la­ti­on had gro­wn to 350 (e‑obce.sk).
