Spiš­ská Sobo­ta je dnes súčas­ťou Pop­ra­du. Je to veľ­mi pek­né mies­to, neveľ­ké, ale o to kraj­šie. Na nie­kto­rých domoch sú zacho­va­né typic­ké spiš­ské strechy.

V 12. sto­ro­čí vznik­la trho­vá osa­da Spiš­ská Sobo­ta, zrej­me na mies­te star­šie­ho hra­dis­ka. Od posled­nej tre­ti­ny 13. sto­ro­čia pat­ri­la k Spo­lo­čen­stvu spiš­ských Sasov. His­to­ric­ké náz­vy: Forum Sab­bat­hae, Sanc­tus Geor­gius, Mons Sanc­ti Geor­gii, Georgn­berg (spso​bo​ta​.szm​.com). Prí­cho­dom sas­kých Nemcov sa Spiš­ská Sobo­ta sta­la význam­ným mes­tom. Mest­ské prá­va má ude­le­né od roku 1271 od krá­ľa Šte­fa­na V.. Bola hos­po­dár­skym, admi­ni­stra­tív­nym stre­dis­kom, síd­lom cechov, obcho­dov, kul­tú­ry. Tak­mer celý stre­do­vek tu žilo 750900 oby­va­te­ľov. V roku 1545 požiar zni­čil tak­mer polo­vi­cu námes­tia a vežu kos­to­la. V roku 1775 zho­re­lo celé mes­to, ale zno­vu sa posta­vi­lo. V 20. sto­ro­čí naras­ta­la výstav­ba aj počet oby­va­te­ľov. Od roku 1950 je Mest­skou pamiat­ko­vou rezer­vá­ci­ou. Archi­tek­to­nic­ký a urba­nis­tic­ký ráz Spiš­skej Sobo­ty je rene­sanč­ný od roku 1775. Hlav­ný oltár Kos­to­la svä­té­ho Jura­ja je die­lom maj­stra Pav­la z Levo­če. Zná­mi rodá­ci: hoke­jis­ti Ľuboš Bar­teč­ko, Peter Bon­dra, Rado­slav Suchý (spso​bo​ta​.szm​.com). V 17. sto­ro­čí tu žila rez­bár­ska rodi­na Gros­sov­cov, sochá­ri Frid­rich a Ján Bro­koff. Medzi ďal­ších pat­ria: his­to­rik a špe­cia­lis­ta na goti­ku Anton Cyril Glatz, ces­to­va­teľ Tibor Szé­ke­ly (spso​bo​ta​.szm​.com), herec Ján Gal­lo­vič (Wiki​pe​dia​.sk). Od roku 1946 je Spiš­ská Sobo­ta mest­skou čas­ťou mes­ta Pop­rad (Wiki​pe​dia​.sk).


Spiš­ská Sobo­ta is now part of Pop­rad. It is a very char­ming pla­ce, not lar­ge in size but all the more beau­ti­ful. Some hou­ses still retain the typi­cal Spiš roofs.

In the 12th cen­tu­ry, the mar­ket sett­le­ment of Spiš­ská Sobo­ta emer­ged, like­ly on the site of an older for­ti­fi­ca­ti­on. From the last third of the 13th cen­tu­ry, it belo­n­ged to the Com­mu­ni­ty of Spiš Saxons. His­to­ri­cal names inc­lu­de Forum Sab­bat­hae, Sanc­tus Geor­gius, Mons Sanc­ti Geor­gii, Georgn­berg (spso​bo​ta​.szm​.com). With the arri­val of Saxon Ger­mans, Spiš­ská Sobo­ta beca­me a sig­ni­fi­cant town. It was gran­ted town pri­vi­le­ges in 1271 by King Step­hen V. It ser­ved as an eco­no­mic, admi­ni­stra­ti­ve cen­ter, and the seat of guilds, tra­de, and cul­tu­re. Almost the enti­re medie­val peri­od saw a popu­la­ti­on of 750 – 900 inha­bi­tants. In 1545, a fire des­tro­y­ed almost half of the squ­are and the church tower. In 1775, the enti­re town bur­ned down, but it was rebu­ilt. In the 20th cen­tu­ry, both cons­truc­ti­on and popu­la­ti­on num­bers grew. Sin­ce 1950, it has been a Muni­ci­pal Monu­ment Reser­ve. The archi­tec­tu­ral and urban cha­rac­ter of Spiš­ská Sobo­ta has been Renais­san­ce sin­ce 1775. The main altar of the Church of St. Geor­ge is the work of Mas­ter Paul of Levo­ča. Famous nati­ves inc­lu­de hoc­key pla­y­ers Ľuboš Bar­teč­ko, Peter Bon­dra, Rado­slav Suchý (spso​bo​ta​.szm​.com). In the 17th cen­tu­ry, the car­ving fami­ly Gros­sov­cov lived here, sculp­tors Frid­rich and Ján Bro­koff. Other notab­le indi­vi­du­als inc­lu­de his­to­rian and Got­hic spe­cia­list Anton Cyril Glatz, tra­ve­ler Tibor Szé­ke­ly (spso​bo​ta​.szm​.com), and actor Ján Gal­lo­vič (Wiki​pe​dia​.sk). Sin­ce 1946, Spiš­ská Sobo­ta has been a dis­trict of the city of Pop­rad (Wiki​pe​dia​.sk).

Veľ­ký Slav­kov sa nachá­dza neďa­le­ko od Vyso­kých Tatier, pre­to je vyhľa­dá­va­ným výcho­dis­ko­vým bodom pre milov­ní­kov turis­ti­ky, hor­ských výstu­pov a lyžo­va­nia. Počas leta cyk­lis­tov aj kor­ču­lia­rov. Ponú­ka rôz­no­ro­dé mož­nos­ti uby­to­va­nia, od pen­zi­ó­nov až po luxus­né hotely.

Veľ­ký Slav­kov leží v nad­mor­skej výš­ke 677 met­rov. Žije tu 1040 oby­va­te­ľov. V kata­strál­nom úze­mí obce sa nachá­dza arche­olo­gic­ké nále­zis­ko sved­čia­ce o pra­ve­kom osíd­le­ní. V lis­ti­nách sa obec spo­mí­na v roku 1251. Obec bola kolo­ni­zo­va­ná Nemca­mi, kto­rí ju začle­ni­li do Spo­lo­čen­stva spiš­ských Sasov. Od roku 1465 bola vo vlast­níc­tve Spiš­ské­ho hra­du. Obec bola po povoj­no­vom vysťa­ho­va­ní Nemcov dosíd­le­ná oby­va­teľ­mi z dvad­sia­tich dedín (vyso​ke​-tat​ry​.info).


Veľ­ký Slav­kov is loca­ted near the High Tatras, making it a sought-​after star­ting point for hiking ent­hu­siasts, moun­tain clim­bers, and skiers. In the sum­mer, it att­racts cyc­lists and rol­lerb­la­ders. It offers diver­se accom­mo­da­ti­on opti­ons, ran­ging from guest­hou­ses to luxu­ry hotels.

Veľ­ký Slav­kov is loca­ted at an ele­va­ti­on of 677 meters. The­re are 1040 inha­bi­tants living here. The cadas­tral ter­ri­to­ry of the muni­ci­pa­li­ty con­tains an archa­e­olo­gi­cal site indi­ca­ting pre­his­to­ric sett­le­ment. The vil­la­ge is men­ti­oned in docu­ments from the year 1251. The vil­la­ge was colo­ni­zed by Ger­mans, who incor­po­ra­ted it into the Com­mu­ni­ty of Spiš Saxons. From 1465, it was in the posses­si­on of Spiš Cast­le. After the post-​war expul­si­on of Ger­mans, the vil­la­ge was resett­led by inha­bi­tants from twen­ty other villages.

Z Novej Les­nej je krás­ny výhľad na celý hlav­ný masív Vyso­kých Tatier. Nová Les­ná ponú­ka skve­lý pries­tor pre milov­ní­kov turis­ti­ky, lyžo­va­nia (Peter Kac­lík). Obec leží na sty­ku Pop­rad­skej kot­li­ny a juho­vý­chod­né­ho úpä­tia Vyso­kých Tatier. Žije tu 1250 oby­va­te­ľov. Prvá písom­ná zmien­ku je už z roku 1315, zalo­ži­li ju Ber­ze­vic­zy­ov­ci. Oby­va­teľ­stvo bolo v hoj­nom počte nemec­ké. V obci pôso­bil ako uči­teľ Ján Stiel (18051890), kto­ré­mu sa pri­pi­su­je prven­stvo vo výstu­pe na Ger­la­chov­ský štít. Po vysťa­ho­va­ní Nemcov obec chát­ra­la. Dnes sa oby­va­te­lia zaobe­ra­jú aj rôz­ny­mi služ­ba­mi v ces­tov­nom ruchu, počet­né sú pen­zi­ó­ny. Kaž­do­roč­ne v lete sa koná medzi­ná­rod­né atle­tic­ké podu­ja­tie – beh do vrchu z obce na Hre­bie­nok (vyso​ke​-tat​ry​.info).


From Nová Les­ná, the­re is a beau­ti­ful view of the enti­re main mas­sif of the High Tatras. Nová Les­ná offers a gre­at spa­ce for hiking and ski­ing ent­hu­siasts, as men­ti­oned by Peter Kac­lík. The vil­la­ge is loca­ted at the junc­ti­on of the Pop­rad Basin and the sout­he­ast foot­hills of the High Tatras. It is home to 1,250 resi­dents. The first writ­ten men­ti­on dates back to 1315, and it was foun­ded by the Ber­ze­vic­zy fami­ly. The popu­la­ti­on was pre­do­mi­nan­tly Ger­man. In the vil­la­ge, the tea­cher Ján Stiel (18051890) wor­ked, cre­di­ted with the first ascent of Ger­la­chov­ský štít. After the depar­tu­re of Ger­mans, the vil­la­ge fell into dec­li­ne. Today, resi­dents are also invol­ved in vari­ous ser­vi­ces rela­ted to tou­rism, and the­re are nume­rous guest­hou­ses. Eve­ry sum­mer, an inter­na­ti­onal athle­tic event takes pla­ce – a hill run from the vil­la­ge to Hre­bie­nok (vyso​ke​-tat​ry​.info).
