Hits: 4172

Záhorie si pamätá pochodovanie rímskych légií, zjednotenie slovanských kmeňov do Veľkomoravskej ríše. Viedli tu cesty nemeckých rytierov i českých kniežat.

Chvojnícka pahorkatina má tri časti: Skalický hájik, Unínsku a Senickú pahorkatinu.

V 5. a 6. storočí sem prichádzali Slovania, ktorých atakovali avarské kočovné kmene. Tatársky vpád v rokoch 12411242 spôsobil zánik dreveno-hlinitých hradov a stavali si kamenné hrady. Od roku 1221 mala Viedeň právo skladu. To znamenalo, že tu tovar museli vyložiť a ponúknuť domácim kupcom. Zároveň boli nútení kupovať od viedenských kupcov drahý tovar privezený zo západu. Viedeň sa snažili kupci obísť. Kupci prebrodili Dunaj až v Ostrihome a pokračovali po Českej ceste do Trnavy, cez Malé Karpaty do Jablonice, Senice, Holíča a odtiaľ do Brna, Prahy a veľkomiest západnej Európy.

Myjava, Vrbovce a Sobotište pytlikárstvom.

Iné kultúrne podujatia: Malacká hudobná jar, Malacké kultúrne leto, divadelné podujatie Zejdeme se na hambálku a Jablkové hodovanie v Malackách, Stupave a Jabloňovom, Habánsky hodový jarmok vo Veľkých Levároch, Detský medzinárodný folklórny festival Mravenec v Plaveckom Štvrtku, Záhradná galéria Alojza Machaja v Plaveckom Štvrtku, Pivný festival a Dni zelá v Stupave, Dedinka remesiel a umení Abeland pri Lozorne, Dni hrozna a vína v Lozorne, Sviatok Pomoravia v Jabloňovom, Súťaž vo varení guláša v Rohožníku, folklórne podujatie Festival Podhoran, Krumpolový deň, gastronomické podujatie Varíme vianočnú kapustnicu v Sološnici, Dožinková slávnosť v Plaveckom Petri, Trdlofest, hudobné podujatie Musica sacra, vinohradnícky Deň otvorených búd v Skalici, Tereziánske dni, Zámocké pivné slávnosti v Holíči, Hradné slávnosti v Podbranči, Letecký deň a Martinské svetlonosenie v Senici, Preteky dračích lodí na Kunovskej priehrade (Michaela Janotová, Eduard Timko).

Záhorie is a region situated between the Czech Republic to the north, Austria to the west, the Small Carpathians to the southeast, and the Danube River to the south. Záhorie has a rich history, witnessing the march of Roman legions, the unification of Slavic tribes into the Great Moravian Empire, and the presence of German knights and Czech princes. For centuries, it has been a borderland. With an area of approximately 2500 km², Záhorie is home to nearly 300,000 residents (zahorie.sk). The name Záhorie has its roots in the 17th century, derived from the Latin term Processus transmontanus,” which referred to the region behind the Small Carpathians, beyond the mountains. Other historical names include Moravské pole na Slovensku, Slovak Pomoravie, Moravská nížina, and Moravský dol. Administratively, Záhorie has never formed a unified entity (zahorie.sk). It includes the districts of Skalica, Senica, Malacky, partially Myjava, and Bratislava – Záhorská Bystrica. The majority of the territory is characterized by the Záhorie Lowland (zahorie.sk).

Human economic activities led to the movement of sand, prompting afforestation of the loose sands in the Záhorie Lowland during the 16th and 17th centuries. However, the natural character of the forests on windy sands was altered by the extensive planting of pine trees (zahorie.sk). Today, Záhorie is known for its pine and riparian forests and sandy soil. Winds are frequent in this region (lozorno.sk). Originally, the Záhorie Lowland was a heavily marshy area with swamps, lakes, and dead river branches. Soft riparian forests still exist on the floodplains of the Morava and Myjava rivers. On higher elevations, there are hard riparian forests. The wetland forests on permanently waterlogged peat soils, such as in the nature reserve Bezdné near Plavecký Štvrtok, are unique. From a botanical perspective, Devínska Kobyla is also remarkable (zahorie.sk).

The Záhorie Lowland is divided into two parts: the Borská Lowland and the Chvojnická Hills. The central part of the Borská Lowland consists of windswept sands northeast of Lozorno and Malacky. To the north, sand dunes rise in Lakšárska Hills. Along the Morava and Myjava rivers, there are the river basins of Myjavská and Dolnomoravská niva, gravel-sand deposits disturbed by river meandering. Between Cerová and Zohor, there is the Podmalokarpatská Depression, where extensive marshy areas formed. The Chvojnická Hills have three parts: Skalický hájik, Unínska, and Senická pahorkatina. Thick layers of loess and loess-like soils are found here. Záhorie also features karst areas in the Small Carpathians – Borinský and Plavecký kras. The Myjavská Hills extend between the Small and White Carpathians (zahorie.sk). The Záhorie Lowland does not have a dense river network, and human activities have significantly altered the original network. The region is relatively dry, with major rivers being the Morava, Myjava, and Rudava. However, significant groundwater reserves are found, especially in the sandy and loamy sands. Numerous water reservoirs, gravel pits, and ponds are also present (zahorie.sk). Most lakes in Záhorie were formed by gravel and sand mining. Caves such as Deravá skala and Pohanská are part of the Malé Karpaty karst (lozorno.sk). Birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon, nest on the rocks and ruins of castles in the Small and White Carpathians (zahorie.sk). Additionally, oil and natural gas deposits have been discovered near Gbely, and industrial mining has been ongoing since 1914 (lozorno.sk).

Záhorie is one of the earliest settled areas in Slovakia. Among the oldest inhabited sites are the Deravá skala cave near Plavecký Mikuláš and a Paleolithic settlement near Sološnica. In the 6th to 5th centuries BCE, the Scythians arrived, followed by the Celts. Settlements from the later Iron Age have been found in places like Myjava, Devín, and Šaštín. The Celts built well-fortified settlements, excelled in metallurgy, and produced tools, weapons, and jewelry (zahorie.sk). The extensive oppidum on Pohanská hill was constructed during this period (lozorno.sk). The Germanic Markomani and Quadi displaced the Celts and Dacians around the turn of the eras. Their scattered tribes also reached Záhorie. The last Germanic tribe in Záhorie were the Lombards in the first half of the 6th century. In the 5th and 6th centuries, Slavs arrived, facing attacks from Avar nomadic tribes. From the time of the Great Moravian Empire, settlements and forts are known in Podbranč, Plavecký Štvrtok, Senica, Rohožník, Stupava, Zohor, Vyšná pri Morave, and Devín (zahorie.sk). After the establishment of Hungary, Záhorie became a border area with the Kingdom of Bohemia and Austria. To protect the borders, tribes like the Sikuls and Plavcs were summoned, and local names like Plavecký hrad, Plavecké Podhradie, Sekule, and others bear witness to their presence (lozorno.sk). The Tatar invasion in 1241 and 1242 led to the destruction of wooden and earthen castles, prompting the construction of stone castles. From 1221, Vienna had the right to store goods, meaning that merchants had to unload and offer their goods to local merchants. Simultaneously, they were forced to buy expensive goods brought from the west by Viennese merchants. Merchants sought to bypass Vienna, crossing the Danube at Esztergom and continuing along the Czech Road to Trnava, over the Small Carpathians to Jablonica, Senica, Holíč, and from there to Brno, Prague, and major cities in Western Europe. This decision elevated the Czech Road to a fundamental European route, around which feudal castle estates began to form in the second half of the 13th and 14th centuries (zahorie.sk).

After the Battle of Mohács in 1526 and the Turkish campaign in 1663, the Slovak population in Záhorie decreased. Croatian colonists became the new ethnic group settling the hills around Myjava, Dúbravka, Lamač, and Záhorská Bystrica. In 1528, Hutterites, a reformist Anabaptist group known as Habans, arrived in western Slovakia. Sobotište became their center. They lived as one large family, collectively managing their affairs, and no one was allowed to have private property. They were involved mainly in pottery and ceramics. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Skalica gained renown for its fine wool. Brezová pod Bradlom became a center for leather and linen production. Myjava, Vrbovce, and Sobotište were known for their bag making. In Šaštín, a cardboard factory was established in 1736, which, until its demise in 1847, was the largest and most famous manufactory in Slovakia. It was one of the largest in Europe, employing almost 20,000 people, with its spinning centers in Lower Austria, especially in Vienna. A majolica manufactory was founded in Holíč. Moreover, it became a center for sheep breeding improvement. In the 1770s, Skalica, with 5,000 inhabitants, was among the ten largest cities in Slovakia. In 1848 – 49, Myjava was one of the centers of the national movement. The first national assembly was held here, declaring the Slovak National Council as a representative body (zahorie.sk).

In the summer, the largest and most significant meetings of military historical vehicles and clubs of military history in Slovakia, named Sahara and Slovak Sands, take place here. Other cultural events include the Malacky Music Spring, Malacky Cultural Summer, theatrical event Zejdeme se na hambálku, and Apple Harvesting in Malacky, Stupava, and Jabloňovo. Haban Festival in Veľké Leváre, International Children’s Folklore Festival Mravenec in Plavecký Štvrtok, Garden Gallery Alojz Machaj in Plavecký Štvrtok, Beer Festival and Cabbage Cooking Days in Stupava, Village of Crafts and Arts Abeland near Lozorno, Days of Grapes and Wine in Lozorno, Pomoravia Festival in Jabloňovo, Goulash Cooking Competition in Rohožník, folk event Festival Podhoran, Krumpolový deň, gastronomic event Cooking Christmas Sauerkraut in Sološnica, Harvest Festival in Plavecký Petřich, Trdlofest, musical event Musica Sacra, vine-growing Open Barn Day in Skalica, Tereziánske dni, Castle Beer Festivities in Holíč, Castle Celebrations in Podbranč, Aviation Day and Martin’s Lantern Parade in Senica, Dragon Boat Races on Kunovská Reservoir (Michaela Janotová, Eduard Timko).

Habaner Festival in Veľké Leváre, International Children’s Folklore Festival Mravenec in Plavecký Štvrtok, Garden Gallery Alojz Machaj in Plavecký Štvrtok, Beer Festival und Cabbage Cooking Days in Stupava, Village of Crafts and Arts Abeland bei Lozorno, Days of Grapes and Wine in Lozorno, Pomoravia Festival in Jabloňovo, Goulash Cooking Competition in Rohožník, folk event Festival Podhoran, Krumpolový deň, gastronomic event Cooking Christmas Sauerkraut in Sološnica, Harvest Festival in Plavecký Petřich, Trdlofest, musical event Musica Sacra, vine-growing Open Barn Day in Skalica, Tereziánske dni, Castle Beer Festivities in Holíč, Castle Celebrations in Podbranč, Aviation Day and Martin’s Lantern Parade in Senica, Dragon Boat Races on Kunovská Reservoir (Michaela Janotová, Eduard Timko).

Bratislavský hrad

Hits: 3975

Od prvej polovice 9. storočia tu bolo opevnené stredisko so zrubovými obydliami, palácom, predrománskou trojloďovou bazilikou, cintorínom a hospodárskymi objektmi. Opevnenie vydržalo do konca 14. storočia, kedy ho nahradili kamenné gotické hradby (wikipedia.sk).

Sídli tu Historické a Hudobné múzeum Slovenského národného múzea. Hrad tvoria rôzne časti: Viedenská, Žigmundova, Mikulášska a Leopoldova brána, čestné nádvorie, vyhliadkový bastión, palác, západná terasa, severné hradby, bašta Luginsland, hradná vináreň, juhozápadný bastión, základy veľkomoravskej baziliky z 9. storočia a kostola sv.

Bratislava Castle is a significant landmark in Bratislava, and the first written mention of Bratislava in the Salzburg Annals dates back to 907 in connection with the Battle of Bavorov and the Hungarians. The castle hill was settled in the late Stone Age, with the first known inhabitants being Celts (bratislava.sk). Traces of the oldest settlement date back 4500 years to the Eneolithic period (Boleráz group). Although the existence of a fortified settlement is presumed, direct evidence has not been found. From the Hallstatt period, dwellings dug into the rock substratum, called earthworks, were discovered on the eastern side (wikipedia.sk). From the La Tène period, the time of the Celtic civilization’s flourishing, there are traces of oppida and Celtic coins, biatecs (Štefanovičová, 1975). From the 9th to the 11th century, processed stones, fragments of inscriptions, and remains of bricks marked with pegs from the 14th Roman legion were found on the eastern terrace of the castle. These findings indicate the presence of the Roman ethnicity on the castle acropolis in the 2nd to 3rd century. It was undoubtedly an exceptional location from a strategic perspective and had great importance for military garrison placement (the original structures were likely part of a military station), especially during the Roman-Germanic military contacts (e.g., Marcomannic Wars). Slavic settlement marked the turn of the 5th and 6th centuries. From the first half of the 9th century, a fortified center with log houses, a palace, a pre-Romanesque triple-naved basilica, a cemetery, and economic buildings existed here. The fortifications lasted until the end of the 14th century when they were replaced by stone Gothic walls (wikipedia.sk).

For four centuries, the northern border of the Roman Empire – the Limes Romanus – ran along the Danube. In the 9th century, the Slavs built a strong fortress here, which became a significant center of the Great Moravian Empire (bratislava.sk), both ecclesiastical and secular, encompassing a broader territory. The princely retinue and ecclesiastical dignitaries resided there (wikipedia.sk). Bratislava Castle is a national cultural monument and currently, its first floor serves for representative purposes of the Slovak National Council, while other spaces house collections of the Slovak National Museum – the Treasures of Ancient Times and the Historical Museum (bratislava.sk). The present name of the castle derives from the name Brezaluspurch, mentioned in the Salzburg Annals in 907. In 1042, Henri-Manni Augiensis Chronicon mentions Brezeburg, in the Altai Annals in 1052, Preslavvaspurch, and in 1108, Bresburg, from which the current German Pressburg (wikipedia.sk) originated. All these names have their origin in the name Braslav or Preslav. It could have been a member of a significant noble family (Jozef Hlinka, 1982). The German historian Aventinus mentions Wratisslaburgium, named after Vratislav, who repaired the castle in 805. Another designation is Castrum Bosan or Bassa, Possen, later Poson, Posonium, probably giving rise to the Hungarian Pozsony (wikipedia.sk).

The Crown Tower dates back to the 13th century. During the rule of Sigismund of Luxembourg (13871437), the castle underwent Gothic reconstruction. After 1526, it became the residence of Hungarian kings. Under Maria Theresa (17401780), the castle transformed into a luxurious Baroque residence. In 1811, it burned down, and reconstruction began only in 1953. Today, the castle is managed by the Office of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. The Historical and Music Museums of the Slovak National Museum are located here. The castle consists of various parts: Vienna, Sigismund, Nicholas, and Leopold Gates, the honorary courtyard, the lookout bastion, the palace, the western terrace, the northern walls, the Luginsland Bastion, the castle winery, the southwest bastion, the foundations of the Great Moravian basilica from the 9th century, and the Church of St. Savior from the 11th century, the cistern (Source: Information board).

In the courtyard of the castle palace, as well as on the northern terrace of the area, archaeologists from the City Institute for the Protection of Monuments found remains of unique architecture dating back to the 1st century BC. The discovery included gold coins with the inscription Biatec. Historians agree that it is the most representative structure north of the Alps from the late La Tène period. The castle apparently housed the acropolis of one of the most significant Celtic fortifications – an oppidum in Central Europe. These objects were built with Roman construction techniques and are a unique find not only in terms of their age but also their quality. They preserved the original interior plaster and cast slabs with stone decoration, which have no parallel in Slovakia,” says Štassel (Kráková). Archaeological research from 2008 changes the view of Bratislava’s Celtic past; the castle was the seat of a Celtic prince named Braslav, who called upon craftsmen from Rome to modify and build the residence according to Roman knowledge. In addition to Roman ceramics, amphorae, bells, and the gold and silver treasure of the prince, the discovery included the first gold coin named Nonnos (Danihelová).

The castle hill is the first hill of the Little Carpathians. Bratislavans, as well as non-locals, enjoy visiting Bratislava Castle. There is a nice view of the surrounding area from there. The part behind the main building, towards the Old Town, is full of greenery, with a relatively large and flat space where quite a few people gather, especially in the summer. Being in the center, the castle is very easily and quickly accessible. Exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances, and various social events take place at the castle, and many events have their beginnings here.

A latén korból keleti oldalán megfigyelhetők a kőzetbe mélyedt kunyhók maradványai (wikipedia.sk). A kelta civilizáció virágkora, a latén korból oppida nyomai és kelta érmék, a Biatecs (Štefanovičová, 1975). A 9. és 11. századból származó dolgozott kőzetek, feliratmaradványok és a XIV. római légió jelzéseivel ellátott téglamaradványokat találtak a vár keleti teraszán. Ezek a leletek a római nép jelenlétét igazolják a vár akropoliszán a 2.

Négy évszázadon keresztül a Duna alkotta a Római Birodalom északi határát – a Limes Romanus‑t. A szlávok az 9. században megerősített erődöt építettek, amely jelentős központtá vált a Nagy-Morva Birodalomnak (bratislava.sk), mind szellemi, mind világi szempontból egy nagyobb terület számára. Itt élt a hercegi család és a keresztény egyház méltóságosa (wikipedia.sk). A bratislavai vár nemzeti kulturális emlék, és jelenleg a Szlovák Nemzeti Tanács első emeletét a Szlovák Nemzeti Múzeum gyűjteményeinek reprezentatív célokra használja – Az ősi korok kincsei és Történeti múzeum kiállításai (bratislava.sk). A vár mai neve a 907-es Brezalauspurc név alapján származik a szalzburgi évkönyvekből. 1042-ben Henri-Manni Augiensis Chroniconban Brezeburgként említik, 1052-ben az Altheus-análokban Preslavvaspurchként, 1108-ban Bresburgként, ami a mai német Pozsonyt eredményezte (wikipedia.sk). Ezek a nevek mind Braslav vagy Preslav név eredetét jelzik. Valószínűleg egy jelentős nemesi család tagja lehetett (Jozef Hlinka, 1982). A német történész Aventinus Wratisslaburgiumot mond, Vratislav alapján, aki a várat 805-ben javította meg. Más néven Castrum Bosan, vagy Bassa, Possen, később Poson, Posonium, ami valószínűleg a magyar Pozsony elnevezéshez vezetett (wikipedia.sk).

A Korona torony a 13. századból származik. Luxemburgi Zsigmond uralkodása alatt (13871437) a vár gótikus átalakuláson ment keresztül. 1526 után Magyarország királyainak lakhelye. Mária Terézia (17401780) idején a vár luxus barokk rezidenciává változott. 1811-ben leégett, a helyreállítás csak 1953-ban kezdődött. A várat jelenleg a Szlovák Köztársaság Nemzeti Tanácsának Hivatala kezeli. Itt található a Szlovák Nemzeti Múzeum Kincsei a régi idők és a Történeti múzeum kiállításai. A várat különböző részek alkotják: bécsi, Zsigmond, Mikulás és Lipót kapu, tiszteletbeli udvar, kilátó bástya, palota, nyugati terasz, északi falak, Luginsland bástya, várborozda, délnyugati bástya, a 9. századi nagy-morva bazilika alapjai és a 11. századi Szent Megváltó templom, ciszterna (Forrás: Informačná tabuľa).

A várpalota udvarán, valamint az épületegyüttes északi teraszán a városi műemlékvédelmi intézet régészei egyedülálló 1. századi építészeti maradványokra bukkantak. A lelet részét képezte a Biatec feliratú aranyérmék is.

A várhegy a Kis-Kárpátok első dombja. Innen egész szép kilátás nyílik a környező területekre. A váron kiállítások, nyáron koncertek, színházi előadások, különböző társadalmi események is zajlanak.

Hits: 3583

Na Braunsbergu často chodia modelári so svojimi modelmi lietať. Je zaujímavé sledovať túto ich vášeň.

Braunsberg is a hill above Hainburg. There is a beautiful view of Bratislava and Devin Castle from it.

The oldest significant settlement on Braunsberg dates back to the Hallstatt period, around the 7th to 6th centuries BCE. It was once inhabited by Celts. On the western side of the hill, there is a replica of a Celtic watchtower (Haratíková). It is one of three Celtic hillforts in the area of the Hungarian Gate. The summit reaches 376 meters above sea level. Devin, another hillfort, is located less than 2 km to the northeast. The most significant was the oppidum at Bratislava Castle. It is assumed that the fortifications were built by the Boii over 2000 years ago (Urban). Model aircraft enthusiasts often frequent Braunsberg to fly their models, making it interesting to observe their passion.
