Devín – mestská časť Bratislavy

Hits: 3484

Nachádza sa tu zrúcanina hradu Devín, gotický kostol svätého Kríža – Panny Márie z druhej polovice 13. storočia a pomník padlým hrdinom I. a II. svetovej vojny (Wikipedia).

V 16. storočí bolo významným trhovým miestom, existovali tu viaceré cechy: lodníkov, rybárov, hrnčiarov, obuvníkov a vinohradníkov. Prekvitalo pestovanie ovocia a zeleniny.

Devín is located at the confluence of the Morava and Danube rivers at an altitude of 158 meters above sea level. With an area of 13.98 km², it is home to 1382 inhabitants. The Hungarian name for Devín is Dévény, and the German name is Theben. Here, you can find the ruins of Devín Castle, the Gothic Church of the Holy Cross – Virgin Mary from the second half of the 13th century, and a monument to the fallen heroes of World War I and II (Wikipedia).

The oldest settlement in Devín dates back to the Neolithic period – the arrival of Neolithic farmers 5,0003,500 years BC. The most significant discovery from the early Iron Age is likely the finding of a grain pit containing originally stored einkorn wheat – Triticum dicoccum. The territory was associated with the Celts during the late Iron Age. From the 1st to the 4th century, the area was part of the Roman defensive system, the Limes Romanus, as one of the outposts of the Roman Carnuntum (sazp.sk). At the end of the 1st century BC, Roman traders also settled here. Roman coins were found here (Richard Miške). In the 1st century, the Romans built a guard station here, inhabited by a legion from Carnuntum. After its abandonment in the 4th century, Slavs settled in the area (Goláň et al.). Ancient Germanic urn graves were also found here (sazp.sk). An ancient loaf of bread was found, likely of wheat and rye (hradiska.sk). The earliest written mention of Devín dates back to a document from 1237 under the name Villa Thebyn. The town was subject to Devín Castle. In 1568, it gained independence and privileges from Emperor Maximilian. In the 16th century, it was a significant market town with various guilds: boatmen, fishermen, potters, shoemakers, and winemakers. The cultivation of fruits and vegetables flourished. In 1829, the Danube Steam Navigation Company was founded. Devín significantly benefited from Lafranconi’s quarry from 1870 to 1890, which supplied stone for the regulation of the Danube. Vineyards have been mentioned in the Devín area since 1254, but Devín is known for its currant wine, production of which began in 1922 by Alois Sonntag. Until the end of World War II, Germans, Hungarians, Slovaks, Jews, and Croats lived here. Devín has been part of Bratislava since 1946 (devin.sk).

Dévény a Morava és a Duna folyók összefolyásánál fekszik, 158 méteres tengerszint feletti magasságban. Területe 13,98 km², és 1382 lakosa van. A Dévény magyar neve Dévény, a német neve pedig Theben. Itt található a Dévényi várnak a romja, a Szent Kereszt – Szűz Mária gótikus templom a 13. század második feléből és egy emlékmű az I. és II. világháborúban elesetteknek (Wikipédia).

Dévény legrégebbi települése a neolitikumból származik – a neolitikus földművesek érkezése 5.0003.500 évvel ezelőtt. Kr. U. végén római kereskedők is letelepedtek itt. Itt is találtak ógermán urnatemetőket (sazp.sk). Az ókorban találtak egy kenyérféléket. Valószínűleg búzából és rozsból készült (hradiska.sk). A Dévény legrégebbi írásos említése egy 1237-es okiratból származik a Villa Thebyn néven. A város a Dévényi várhoz tartozott. 1568-ban kapott függetlenséget és kiváltságokat I. Maximilián császártól. A 16. században jelentős piaci város volt különböző céhekkel: hajóskapitányok, halászok, fazekasok, cipészek és borászok. Gyümölcs- és zöldségtermesztése virágzott. 1829-ben alapították a Dunai Gőzhajózási Társaságot.

Horný hrad prestavovali a iné úpravy v dôsledku tureckého nebezpečenstva vykonali Báthoryovci, ktorí boli majiteľmi v rokoch 15271606.

V rokoch 19211922 vo východnej časti hradiska objavili a neskôr identifikovali veľkomoravský kostol datovaný do 1011. storočia (apsida.sk).

Západné Karpaty vznikli v dôsledku kolízie africkej a eurázijskej platne.

Rastie tu napr. Dianthus praecox lumnitzeri, Campanula xylorrhiza, Xeranthnemum annuum, Artemisia austriaca, Gagea pusilla, Medigago monspeliaca, Senecio erucifolis tenuifolius, Allium sphaerocephalon, Stipa capillata, Papaver dubium austromoravicum (Informačná tabuľa)

V puklinách hniezdia napr.: sokol Falco tinnunculus, Apus apus. Z hmyzu vidlochvost Iphiclides podalirius, jasoň Parnassius mnemosyne, Saga pedo, fúzač Cerambyx cerdo (Informačná tabuľa).

Obyvatelia osady v dolnej časti hradiska pochovávali svojich mŕtvych na tomto mieste ešte v čase Veľkej Moravy. Priemerný vek pochovaných je 32 rokov, ležali v hĺbka 70130 cm tesne jeden vedľa druhého, miestami i vo viacerých vrstvách nad sebou. Zaniknutý kostol z 9. storočia nahradila v 10. storočí kaplnka.

The famous ruins of Devin Castle, perched on a rocky cliff above the confluence of the Morava and Danube rivers, are among the significant landmarks of Slovak history (bratislava.sk). During the rule of Trajan and Valentinian I, a Roman guard station was stationed at Devin. The fortifications were built by a Roman garrison and were part of the Roman Empire’s border defense system – Limes romanus (devin.sk). At the hilltop, there was a significant Celtic settlement from the beginning of the last century BC (slovenskehrady.sk). The exceptionally strategic location, known to both Celts and Romans, led to the establishment of a massive Slavic fortress on the hill, first mentioned in writing in 864 under the name Dowina, meaning a girl (devin.sk). The oldest traces of Slavs date back to the 8th century, covering the entire central fortress area, providing insight into intensive settlement patterns. Remnants of an earthen wall on the northern side, built in Roman times, reinforced by Slavs with a wooden palisade, are still visible today (slovenskehrady.sk).

In the 9th century, Devin was the residence of Mojmír, Rastislav, and Svätopluk, who defeated the Germans here in 871 (kastiel.org). According to chronicles, the Great Moravian prince Rastislav fortified Devin, seeking refuge from the East Frankish king Louis the German (i15.cz). During the Great Moravian Empire, Devin was the most significant border fortress (bratislava.sk). In the period after 892, Devin became one of the important points in the chain of defensive fortresses against attacks by the old Hungarians from the areas beyond the river (slovenskehrady.sk). After the decline of the Great Moravian Empire, Devin gained strategic importance in the 13th century during the Austrian-Hungarian struggles for the Devin Gate. A smaller stone border guard castle was built on the castle hill during this time (wikipedia sk). In 1272, Přemysl Otakar captured the castle, defeating Hungarian King Stephen (kastiel.org).

More extensive construction occurred in 1460 when the counts of Svätý Jur and Pezinok became the owners of the castle. The upper castle was reconstructed, and other modifications were made due to the threat of the Turks by the Báthory family, who owned it from 1527 to 1606. The last fortification works were associated with the Turks and the Pálfy family in the second half of the 17th century. After the decline of the Turkish threat, Devin began to decay in the 18th century, and in May 1809, Napoleon, who occupied Vienna, blew up the castle in June. Since then, it has been in ruins. Its glory was revived in 1836 by Ľudovít Štúr, for whom Devin symbolized Slavic solidarity and national awareness (sazp.sk). Since the times of the Slovak national movement and Štúr’s walks to the castle ruins, Devin has become a symbol not only of ancient Slavic glory but also of Slavic friendship and camaraderie among nations. The ruins of Devin Castle are a national cultural monument managed by the City Museum in Bratislava (bratislava.sk).

On the castle grounds, there are remnants of a Roman structure. One of them is located in the upper courtyard, in front of the entrance to the interior exhibition section. Quoting from an information board near these remnants: It was discovered during archaeological research in the 1930s. A substantial part of the findings was destroyed during World War II. It was found that the structure consists of four rooms, one of which is terminated by an apse oriented to the south. Based on construction techniques, it can be dated to the 3rd century – the period of the Severan dynasty, with subsequent modifications that could have been carried out during the rule of Emperor Valentinian I. (364375).” The building can be characterized as part of a civilian settlement (Information board at Devin). In 1921 – 1922, in the eastern part of the fortress, archaeologists discovered and later identified a Great Moravian church dating from the 10th-11th century (apsida.sk).

The Western Carpathians formed due to the collision of the African and Eurasian plates. The Small Carpathians and Hainburg Mountains are part of this structure. The Danube and Morava river systems gradually developed in the basins. The Devin Gate is situated above the confluence of these rivers, representing an elevated part of the mountain separated by a fault from the subsided Devin Gate. The Devin Castle cliff is a national natural monument, and the castle hill is also a significant botanical site with many protected and endangered plant species. The entire castle hill is essential for bird nesting conditions. The warm southern slopes are crucial habitats, especially for reptiles and insects. Species like the falcon Falco tinnunculus, Apus apus, swallowtail Iphiclides podalirius, Parnassius mnemosyne, Saga pedo, and longhorn Cerambyx cerdo nest in the crevices of the rock (Information board at Devin). In the lower part of the fortress, inhabitants buried their dead in the Great Moravian era. The average age of the buried is 32 years, and they were buried at a depth of 70 – 130 cm, closely next to each other, sometimes in several layers above each other. The extinct church from the 9th century was replaced by a chapel in the 10th century.

Jahrhunderts in Verbindung gebracht.

A török veszély megszűnését követően a 18. században kezdett szétesni a Devín, amit (wikipedia sk) 1809 májusában Napóleon okozott, aki elfoglalta Bécset és júniusban felrobbantotta a várat. Azóta romokban hever. Dicsőségét 1836-ban Žudovít Štúr élesztette fel, aki számára a Devín a szláv kölcsönösesség és a nemzeti öntudat szimbóluma volt (sazp.sk). A szlovák nemzeti mozgalom idején, a hegyi romokra tett séta után a Devín a régi szláv dicsőség nem csak a nemzet szimbóluma lett, hanem a szláv barátság és a népek közötti barátság jelképe is. A Devín romja nemzeti kulturális emlékmű, amelyet Pozsony városi múzeuma kezel (bratislava.sk).

A váron római épületek maradványai találhatók. A 30-as években, egy 1945-ös II. világháborús bombázás során felfedezték.

A Devin várhágai külön nemzeti természeti emlékmű. A várházi hágó erős és tagolt, majdnem 70 méteres magasságban. Itt találhatók a belemnitesek is (Információs tábla).

Az egész vár domb egyben fontos botanikai hely is, sok védett és veszélyeztetett növényfaj előfordulásával. Például a következők is nőnek itt: Dianthus praecox lumnitzeri, Campanula xylorrhiza, Xeranthnemum annuum, Artemisia austriaca, Gagea pusilla, Medigago monspeliaca, Senecio erucifolis tenuifolius, Allium sphaerocephalon, Stipa capillata, Papaver dubium austromoravicum (Információs tábla).

A sziklafal madárnak biztosít fészkelési feltételeket. A déli melegek fontos élőhelyet jelentenek különösen a hüllők és a rovarok számára. A hasadékokban például fészkelt a kestrel Falco tinnunculus, Apus apus. Az emlősöktől például a Iphiclides podalirius, a Parnassius mnemosyne, a Saga pedo, a Cerambyx cerdo (Információs tábla).

A hegy lábánál fekvő település lakói még a Nagymorvai Birodalom idején is itt temették el halottaikat. A temető átlagos életkora 32 év volt, 70 – 130 cm mélységben feküdtek egymás mellett, néha több rétegben is. A 9. században lerombolták a nagymorvai templomot, helyébe a 10. században egy kápolna lépett.

Od prvej polovice 9. storočia tu bolo opevnené stredisko so zrubovými obydliami, palácom, predrománskou trojloďovou bazilikou, cintorínom a hospodárskymi objektmi. Opevnenie vydržalo do konca 14. storočia, kedy ho nahradili kamenné gotické hradby (wikipedia.sk).

Sídli tu Historické a Hudobné múzeum Slovenského národného múzea. Hrad tvoria rôzne časti: Viedenská, Žigmundova, Mikulášska a Leopoldova brána, čestné nádvorie, vyhliadkový bastión, palác, západná terasa, severné hradby, bašta Luginsland, hradná vináreň, juhozápadný bastión, základy veľkomoravskej baziliky z 9. storočia a kostola sv.

Bratislava Castle is a significant landmark in Bratislava, and the first written mention of Bratislava in the Salzburg Annals dates back to 907 in connection with the Battle of Bavorov and the Hungarians. The castle hill was settled in the late Stone Age, with the first known inhabitants being Celts (bratislava.sk). Traces of the oldest settlement date back 4500 years to the Eneolithic period (Boleráz group). Although the existence of a fortified settlement is presumed, direct evidence has not been found. From the Hallstatt period, dwellings dug into the rock substratum, called earthworks, were discovered on the eastern side (wikipedia.sk). From the La Tène period, the time of the Celtic civilization’s flourishing, there are traces of oppida and Celtic coins, biatecs (Štefanovičová, 1975). From the 9th to the 11th century, processed stones, fragments of inscriptions, and remains of bricks marked with pegs from the 14th Roman legion were found on the eastern terrace of the castle. These findings indicate the presence of the Roman ethnicity on the castle acropolis in the 2nd to 3rd century. It was undoubtedly an exceptional location from a strategic perspective and had great importance for military garrison placement (the original structures were likely part of a military station), especially during the Roman-Germanic military contacts (e.g., Marcomannic Wars). Slavic settlement marked the turn of the 5th and 6th centuries. From the first half of the 9th century, a fortified center with log houses, a palace, a pre-Romanesque triple-naved basilica, a cemetery, and economic buildings existed here. The fortifications lasted until the end of the 14th century when they were replaced by stone Gothic walls (wikipedia.sk).

For four centuries, the northern border of the Roman Empire – the Limes Romanus – ran along the Danube. In the 9th century, the Slavs built a strong fortress here, which became a significant center of the Great Moravian Empire (bratislava.sk), both ecclesiastical and secular, encompassing a broader territory. The princely retinue and ecclesiastical dignitaries resided there (wikipedia.sk). Bratislava Castle is a national cultural monument and currently, its first floor serves for representative purposes of the Slovak National Council, while other spaces house collections of the Slovak National Museum – the Treasures of Ancient Times and the Historical Museum (bratislava.sk). The present name of the castle derives from the name Brezaluspurch, mentioned in the Salzburg Annals in 907. In 1042, Henri-Manni Augiensis Chronicon mentions Brezeburg, in the Altai Annals in 1052, Preslavvaspurch, and in 1108, Bresburg, from which the current German Pressburg (wikipedia.sk) originated. All these names have their origin in the name Braslav or Preslav. It could have been a member of a significant noble family (Jozef Hlinka, 1982). The German historian Aventinus mentions Wratisslaburgium, named after Vratislav, who repaired the castle in 805. Another designation is Castrum Bosan or Bassa, Possen, later Poson, Posonium, probably giving rise to the Hungarian Pozsony (wikipedia.sk).

The Crown Tower dates back to the 13th century. During the rule of Sigismund of Luxembourg (13871437), the castle underwent Gothic reconstruction. After 1526, it became the residence of Hungarian kings. Under Maria Theresa (17401780), the castle transformed into a luxurious Baroque residence. In 1811, it burned down, and reconstruction began only in 1953. Today, the castle is managed by the Office of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. The Historical and Music Museums of the Slovak National Museum are located here. The castle consists of various parts: Vienna, Sigismund, Nicholas, and Leopold Gates, the honorary courtyard, the lookout bastion, the palace, the western terrace, the northern walls, the Luginsland Bastion, the castle winery, the southwest bastion, the foundations of the Great Moravian basilica from the 9th century, and the Church of St. Savior from the 11th century, the cistern (Source: Information board).

In the courtyard of the castle palace, as well as on the northern terrace of the area, archaeologists from the City Institute for the Protection of Monuments found remains of unique architecture dating back to the 1st century BC. The discovery included gold coins with the inscription Biatec. Historians agree that it is the most representative structure north of the Alps from the late La Tène period. The castle apparently housed the acropolis of one of the most significant Celtic fortifications – an oppidum in Central Europe. These objects were built with Roman construction techniques and are a unique find not only in terms of their age but also their quality. They preserved the original interior plaster and cast slabs with stone decoration, which have no parallel in Slovakia,” says Štassel (Kráková). Archaeological research from 2008 changes the view of Bratislava’s Celtic past; the castle was the seat of a Celtic prince named Braslav, who called upon craftsmen from Rome to modify and build the residence according to Roman knowledge. In addition to Roman ceramics, amphorae, bells, and the gold and silver treasure of the prince, the discovery included the first gold coin named Nonnos (Danihelová).

The castle hill is the first hill of the Little Carpathians. Bratislavans, as well as non-locals, enjoy visiting Bratislava Castle. There is a nice view of the surrounding area from there. The part behind the main building, towards the Old Town, is full of greenery, with a relatively large and flat space where quite a few people gather, especially in the summer. Being in the center, the castle is very easily and quickly accessible. Exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances, and various social events take place at the castle, and many events have their beginnings here.

A latén korból keleti oldalán megfigyelhetők a kőzetbe mélyedt kunyhók maradványai (wikipedia.sk). A kelta civilizáció virágkora, a latén korból oppida nyomai és kelta érmék, a Biatecs (Štefanovičová, 1975). A 9. és 11. századból származó dolgozott kőzetek, feliratmaradványok és a XIV. római légió jelzéseivel ellátott téglamaradványokat találtak a vár keleti teraszán. Ezek a leletek a római nép jelenlétét igazolják a vár akropoliszán a 2.

Négy évszázadon keresztül a Duna alkotta a Római Birodalom északi határát – a Limes Romanus‑t. A szlávok az 9. században megerősített erődöt építettek, amely jelentős központtá vált a Nagy-Morva Birodalomnak (bratislava.sk), mind szellemi, mind világi szempontból egy nagyobb terület számára. Itt élt a hercegi család és a keresztény egyház méltóságosa (wikipedia.sk). A bratislavai vár nemzeti kulturális emlék, és jelenleg a Szlovák Nemzeti Tanács első emeletét a Szlovák Nemzeti Múzeum gyűjteményeinek reprezentatív célokra használja – Az ősi korok kincsei és Történeti múzeum kiállításai (bratislava.sk). A vár mai neve a 907-es Brezalauspurc név alapján származik a szalzburgi évkönyvekből. 1042-ben Henri-Manni Augiensis Chroniconban Brezeburgként említik, 1052-ben az Altheus-análokban Preslavvaspurchként, 1108-ban Bresburgként, ami a mai német Pozsonyt eredményezte (wikipedia.sk). Ezek a nevek mind Braslav vagy Preslav név eredetét jelzik. Valószínűleg egy jelentős nemesi család tagja lehetett (Jozef Hlinka, 1982). A német történész Aventinus Wratisslaburgiumot mond, Vratislav alapján, aki a várat 805-ben javította meg. Más néven Castrum Bosan, vagy Bassa, Possen, később Poson, Posonium, ami valószínűleg a magyar Pozsony elnevezéshez vezetett (wikipedia.sk).

A Korona torony a 13. századból származik. Luxemburgi Zsigmond uralkodása alatt (13871437) a vár gótikus átalakuláson ment keresztül. 1526 után Magyarország királyainak lakhelye. Mária Terézia (17401780) idején a vár luxus barokk rezidenciává változott. 1811-ben leégett, a helyreállítás csak 1953-ban kezdődött. A várat jelenleg a Szlovák Köztársaság Nemzeti Tanácsának Hivatala kezeli. Itt található a Szlovák Nemzeti Múzeum Kincsei a régi idők és a Történeti múzeum kiállításai. A várat különböző részek alkotják: bécsi, Zsigmond, Mikulás és Lipót kapu, tiszteletbeli udvar, kilátó bástya, palota, nyugati terasz, északi falak, Luginsland bástya, várborozda, délnyugati bástya, a 9. századi nagy-morva bazilika alapjai és a 11. századi Szent Megváltó templom, ciszterna (Forrás: Informačná tabuľa).

A várpalota udvarán, valamint az épületegyüttes északi teraszán a városi műemlékvédelmi intézet régészei egyedülálló 1. századi építészeti maradványokra bukkantak. A lelet részét képezte a Biatec feliratú aranyérmék is.

A várhegy a Kis-Kárpátok első dombja. Innen egész szép kilátás nyílik a környező területekre. A váron kiállítások, nyáron koncertek, színházi előadások, különböző társadalmi események is zajlanak.

Hits: 2664

Chránil ho systém priekop a ochranný múr s rohovými a dvojitými vežami.

In Petronell, near Bratislava, there is a Roman camp located in Austria that is a remnant and reconstruction of the actual Roman camp Carnuntum. It features demonstrations of the societal life of that era, technical solutions for daily living in dwellings, baths, and many other interesting aspects.

The Roman metropolis Carnuntum was situated on the Amber Road, along the Roman border – Limes Romanus between Vienna and Bratislava, at the intersection of trade routes, the Amber Road, and the Danube route. It is the largest archaeological site in Austria (vinokarpat.sk). Systematic excavations have been ongoing since 1885. The word Carnuntum” is likely derived from Kar” or Karn” – stone or pile of rocks (Wikipedia.cs).

Carnuntum evolved from the 1st half of the 1st century AD until the end of Roman presence in 433. The estimated population of Carnuntum is around 50,000. Before the Romans, Celts inhabited this area, followed by the Boii tribe in the 2nd century BC. In 6 BC, the Roman Tiberius founded a military base on the territory of the Celtic city Carnuntum, attacking the Marcomannic king Maroboduus. In 8 – 9 AD, Pannonia became a Roman province as Inferior Provincia Illyricum. After the defeat in the Teutoburg Forest (9 AD), Augustus decided to abandon further conquests north of the Danube, designating the Danube as the empire’s boundary. In the following period, Carnuntum had a crucial defensive function on the Danube. Under Emperor Claudius (4154), a civilian town was also established. In 172 – 175, Marcus Aurelius fought against the Marcomanni and Quadi in Pannonia, staying in Carnuntum from 171 to 173. In 194, Carnuntum was elevated to a colony and received the name Colonia Septimia Aurelia Antoniniana Carnuntum (vinokarpat.sk).

About a kilometer west of present-day Bad Deutsch Altenburg, the 15th legion – Legio XV Apollinaris had a military camp. It was protected by a trench system and a defensive wall with corner and double towers, housing 5,000 to 6,000 soldiers. About a kilometer west of the military camp was the auxiliary legion camp – Castrum auxilii, built in the 2nd half of the 1st century and served a 500-member cavalry military garrison. Around the military camp, a settlement with solid wooden structures (canabae) was established, transforming into stone buildings during the 2nd century AD. Civilian population settled here, and this settlement spread over approximately 150 hectares. Emperor Hadrian granted urban rights to this urban settlement. Carnuntum gradually transformed into a significant trade metropolis (vinokarpat.sk).

The amphitheater in Petronell, with an area of 7244 meters, was one of the largest in the Roman Empire. However, only 8,000 spectators could fit into the arena, and the tribune gives an idea of the original height of the structure. It is assumed that the southern tribune had a two-story and elegantly furnished lodge for the governor. There was one monumental gate on the east and west sides each, and at the western entrance, there was the Nemeseum – a small sanctuary dedicated to the goddess of fate and revenge, Diana Nemesis (Information board).

Jahrh

underts n. Chr. in Steinbauten umwandelten.
